You get the plans for it from Zarena Cromwind in Booty Bay, Stranglethorn. She is located at the entrance of the old harbor authority (on the left side). This item is limited and if it's not there someone else already bought it. Respawn can be up to 1 hour so you need to be patient or buy it at times where less people are playing. I have also seen it at the auctions house for 1+ gold.

You need to buy the Artisan blacksmithing training from the master goblin in Booty Bay, Stranglethorn. The training costs 5 gold. After that, when your skill is 230, you can learn the recipe big black mace from him.

Required Blacksmithing skill: 210

You have to learn this from the goblin master in Booty Bay, Stranglethorn.

Massive Iron Axe: 0/4
Required Blacksmithing skill: 185

You have to buy the plans from Jaquilinia Dramed in Nesingwarys Expedition (the hunters camp in the north), Stranglethorn. This item is limited and if it's not there someone else already bought it. You must be at least level 40 and have 230 Blacksmithing skill to get this quest. Once you meet the requirements, speak to the NPC Krathok Moltenfist ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/npc=11176 ) and choose the option "I wish to become a weaponsmith". After that Borgosh Corebender will give you this quest.

incorrect .. u need lvl 40 and 200 BS .. u only need 230 BS to craft the big black mace, but u can also buy it on AH or have smn craft it for u

An update to when you get this quest, i got it on my 41 pally today and he only has BS skill 225 so you don't need 230 to get this quest.

I just got this quest and my blacksmithing is only 220, so the minimum to get this is apparently 220, not 230.

I submitted a screenshot with my quest log with the quest and my blacksmithing at only 220.

I done the quest today. Besides the amount of materials you need there are some points you may pay some atention.

To start you have the recipes for Moonsteel Broadsword and Big Iron Axe. In my case i had luck with the first one but the second one costed me some 10 trips from Nesingwary to Grom'Gol before it spawned. If you are levling BS as you are levling your char you should keep an eye both the recipes.

Now speaking about gathering the materials. Iron and Mithril are fairly easy to get. 2 Rounds to Arathi Highlands and 2-3 to Hinterlands should get you all the iron and mithril you need. You can get some luck and catch all the 16 gold ores while looking for Mithril and Iron like i did. If you dont have 16 i sugest you check the prices on the AH and maybe buy the ores or bars you need. For the leathers i actually bought them from AH but it isnt to hard to find them. The Black Pearls were supposed to give me a hell of a work but i think i got lucky. I went for the farming because they are +30g on AH so i used the fact i was going to hinterlands to grind the turtles near the village. They drop big-mouth Clams that have ~4% drop chance of black pearls. I got both after 13 clams but it can extend a lot so be prepared. I used a mage to grind so was fairly easy to do AoE Grind. The shadow gems are easy to get too. Just do some rounds in low level zones or go to AH. The citrines i got them while farming Iron. The lesser Moonstones i can advice you to go to AH and buy them. In my server they aren't very expensive (around 40s).

I did this all in 2-3h But be prepared for some heavy farming if you want to farm all mats.

every one is saying you have to go to straglethorn val.. to learn massive iron axe and big black mace but i just went to the blacksmith trainer at org and learned them bolth

Then I hear there's a pre-req quest for it in Tanaris?

I didn't have any trouble. One of these guys near the anvils in Orgrimmar gave me the option to choose weaponsmith or armorsmith when I was around blacksmithing 200.

The fella's name is :: Krathok Moltenfist.
He's found in the Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar, between the outside anvil/forge and the weapons hut. He's your prototypical GQ Orc.

He'll give you the option to go Weaponsmith or Armorsmith.

To become hamersmith.. swordsmith.. axesmith.. you have to become a weaponsmith.. so to answer a big question i had.. becomeing a weaponsmith.. will NOT take away axesmithing and others.. with axesmithing you have to do a quest.. with the others you probably have to do the same

56 mithril bars
16 gold bars
32 coal
16 strong flux
4 thick leather
28 heavy leather
16 Heavy grinding stones
4 solid grinding stones
2 black pearls

4 citrine
12 lesser moonstone

I know its a lot. I was lazy and spent a total of about 36G buying all the mats in the AH and by vendors... Hope this helps

How To:

Hordies, speak to Krathok Moltenfist, an npc at the forge/anvil in Orgrimmar's Valley of Honor (where all the blacksmithing trainers are). He gives two options:
I want to become an armorsmith!
I want to become a weaponsmith!

Choose one and suddenly the yellow "!" will appear over the appropriate npc trainer.

p.s. this worked for me at lvl 40 with 219 BS skill.

If my calculations are correct, this is what you will need to create 4x Moonsteel Broadsword, 4x Massive Iron Axe, 2x Heavy Mithril Axe and 2x Big Black Mace:

If you don't have any of those items, and you're too lazy to farm them yourself.. then prepare for a massive bill.

I have a question, before BC i unlearned blacksmithing(300), unaware what blacksmithing had to offer for the expansion. i was a sword smith prior to this. I recently started Leveling my blacksmithing back up, got it to 225...my question is .. Do I have to do the quest again to become a weapon smith? or will it just remember that i did it in the past?

Ok so i got the quest and acquired all the weapons to turn in. I see the yellow question mark over his head and the next screen pops up when i select him however it wont let me continue. it acts as though i dont have something completed to turn in. Why would I get a yellow question mark if I didnt have all the weapons.

so what do i get from this quest? i chose way of the weaponsmith... i realised that i can learn everything from him by gold... but whats this quest give? an extra bar in skills? eg. weaponsmith? or is it just something that gives you some recipe and thats it?

You guys have to understand that the plans that get sold on vendors arn't there all the time. They respawn into the vendors menu about every half hour or so.

This is the HORDE one dwarf, not Alliance. You get this in Orgrimmar by speaking to Borgosh Corebender, and you must be level 40.

Moonsteel Plans can be purchases in Booty Bay in Port Authority place for 44 silver. The NPC name is Zarena Cromwind and u can find her in the right part of Port Authority building. coordinates 28,75 on lower level of Booty Bay.

As long as your BS skill is high enough to learn the recipes needed to make the weapons for the quest, then your good to go. Not sure if I was at 200. But I started this quest late. I initially wanted to become an armorsmith.

Hi guys. When i was 280 BS i made quest for Weaponsmith. BUti was lvl 52 back then, so i couldnt learn more. Nowi 'm 58 lvl and i entered to Outlands, but i can't learn bigger Blacksmith than 300.... i already have 300/300 and in Thrallmar's BS trainer it says "required Artisan armorsmith 275 " WTF? Can't i learn any bigger skill now ? :(( Plx help me... write me PM message if anyone has ANY ideas, THanks

How do you attain this quest. I am currently a level 40 war with 225 smithing.I have finished the up to the mitril order quest. I am currently working on them. I have yet to even get this quest yet. Also where do you train past 225 in smithing?

Ok, I had trouble with starting this quest. Borgosh wouldn't give it to me.

Eventually I found out I had to talk to Krathok first (Krathok Puñofundido and choose weaponsmith, before I could get the quest from Borgosh.

To get this quest, train to become an artisan blacksmith in Booty bay, then talk to Krathok Moltenfist in Ogrimmar (near the anvils), then talk to Borgosh to get the quest.

This thread wasn't very clear on this.

If you are Horde:

You can obtain the Diseño: hacha de hierro macizoPlans: Massive Iron Axe from Vharr in Grom'gol Base Camp in Stranglethorn Vale. He is at 32,28 which is the Northeastern part of the camp in the forge.

The plan is almost always available here as everyone (Alliance and Horde) will be looking to buy the plans from the other vendor (Jaquilina Dramet).

This is bugged on SoD. Making Moonsteel Broadswords doesnt give you credit, so the quest always says 0/4, meaning you cant hand it it.
