"Legerdemain" might be a contraction of French words... It could read as one of two things:

"Léger de main", which, though a bit odd in French, could literally translate to "Light of hand", which is either a reference to prestidigitation, or to having a 'light hand' when it comes to raising your glass to drink...

"Léger demain" would mean "Light tomorrow".

I'm going to start skipping this one once my stacks of chilled meat I got from leveling runs out. Going out to farm 12 meats just for this one quest isn't worth the reward imo.

There appears to be a typo in the quest text. At some point it refers to "Northrend Stew" instead of Northern Stew. "Northrend Stew" does not exist ingame, at least not at this point, and it is indeed Northern Stew that you need to make to complete the quest.

The recipe is obtainable at level 65 when you turn in 4 chilled meat to one of the following...

This one seems to come up with an inordinate frequency - at least for me. 4 days straight now and 6 out of the last seven days. There are a couple I've only seen once.

You get chilled meat from your animal kills and make northern stew with your recipe. If you face the horde area in Dalaran, you will see a wine and cheese shop to your left. Enter and you will see a glowing bottle of wine behind the counter. Loot it and you are done.

The quest requirement "Northern Stew (12)" will be lowered to "Northern Stew (8)" with Patch 3.0.8 (PTR)!

Edit: They reduced the required amount even more to "Northern Stew (4)" with 3.0.8 (LIVE).

One of the best ways to farm the Chilled Meat you need for all these cooking dailies is to kill the Hardknuckle monkeys in southern Sholazar Basin. They tend to spawn in groups, have less than avg HP, and have a ~60% drop rate on Chilled Meat. My favorite way to farm the meat is to go farm for an hour during low pop times, which nets me about 100 meat. Then I'm set for at least 2 weeks of cooking dailies before I have to farm any more.

The description reads you "gots to be providin' 8 Northern Stew" but only 4 are required.

I guess the questgiver is expecting a kickback.

I don't know how Blizzard random generator works, but on Turalyon EU for the last 20 days, this was the cooking daily for at least 18 days. I think there was 6 or 7 days in a row with this quest and 4 or 5 days of them were *before* 3.0.8 so we had to spend 12 meats every time. Thank god they made this change...

interesting situation, the quest tracker says that i only need 4/4 stews and is complete however quest text says i need 8 as of latest patch 3.0.8 (i believe that's what it is) 02.09.09 won't let me turn in quest and i have 0 on hand...

Just completed this for the first time today on a new toon, a lvl 73 rogue and only got 15400 xp instead of the indicated 16050. :(

This was a horde toon so maybe once again Blizzard is showing their love for the alliance.

As previously mentioned, this quest appears to be the daily at least 5 days a week on my realm.

Easiest way to do this daily without wasting time:

Go farm up a huge quantitiy of chilled meat by clubbing some baby seals.
Store chilled meat in bank. (Don't make northern stew. This meat is for other dailies too)
Go check your daily.
Daily is This Quest

Profit!

Takes no more than 30 seconds to finish this daily.

i am lvl 70 on my alt, just completed it now, so dont think its lvl 77 req, and also i only got 9500 xp, not 16k as it says in the description here

The wine jug is sparkling on the floor of the wine and cheese room in Dalaran. The northern stew is in your cooking list. You make it out of the chilled meat you loot off world mobs.
