You'll need at least 2 people for this quest. It may seem non elite at the start but when the timer ticks down to the last seconds an elite will spawn with several non elite adds. Completed this quest as a 69 Warlock with a 69 Mage.

Note that the tanking necklace has the exact same stats as the tanking necklace obtained from the Hound-Master quest in Blades Edge.

However, https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=31696 (Natasha's Battle Chain) vendors for 3G +, and this only vendors for 70 S.

I would strongly recomend taking 5 people or 2-3 people if you have a mage. The ammount of spawns is actually huge, and while i find that most group quests can be soloed or done with a lot less people i think this one needs more than 3.

Just a quick note, even if you die you can still complete the quest if they don't stop the shutdown.

My group died with like 10-15 seconds left, and we completed.

Soloed as a frost mage. Just gotta keep them off the machine long enough for it to complete, which can be done with careful use of double Ice Block and AOEs. I actually died with a few seconds left but still got credit.

Me and a friend tried this quest. Im Scryer and hes Aldor so i figured that because the quest have the same goal it have to be able to do together. But we tried 4 times, after the first Ara Engineer the quest somehow bugged and it stopped and we never completed, and everytime we watched so no mobs was trying to shut it down. Still we did not complete nor did we get a text telling us that we failed... very wierd.

dunno how ppl could do this quest with 2 ppl or maybe allone,
i prefered 4 or 5 ppl for this quest, im a full frost mage, and i can play em, and a tank we can´t do it together.
there are lots of waves with mobs, mage got probs with oom, means take some pots with u.
other problem is, that the respawn rate is very fast ( from the normal mobs )..
maybe its doable with 2 , but there where another group which dies with a lock and a priest to.
after they joined us it was easy and without any probs doable.

all the shutdown quests are easy soloable by a rogue, cause the mobs don't try again to stop the shutdown after an interruption, so sap as hell and don't break stealth except for mobs u can't sap as the elite in the final q.

You obviously haven't done the quest because the mobs it spawns are demons and they can't be sapped. Your tip does apply to the first 3 forges though.

Soloed this as a 70 warrior (put on all my tanking equipment and kited all the mobs around the room with piercing howl) but I still didn't get credit for the manaforge shutting down. I got the 30 second warning, but 30 seconds later nothing happened despite the fact that none of the engineers were fixing the forge. I think blizz may have changed the quest so you don't get credit unless you kill the 70 elite that spawns.

Soloable as a warrior. Took me a Healthstone, Arena Grand Master Shield and Shield wall but I lived for two minutes.

Start tanking the initial three mobs for rage, then once three more come run into them and piercing howl, now just run around close to the center of the forge and spam piercing howl, if the mobs daze you face them for a second and then run away again. Use Healthstones/Charged Crystal Focii/Healing Potions as needed.

Blow Shield wall on the last 10-15 seconds, even if you die after the quest still counts. Just make sure not to release =P

Oh also wear gear with alot of stamina and avoidance (My warrior had 12.5k HP, 13.7k with commanding shout)

Just duoed it with a 70 hunter and i'm a 70 warlock.

Key to the way we solved it was that I enslaved one of the engineers and banished the chief engineer while we were clearing the little adds. Had to use a couple of pots and take the time during the breaks to bandage, but we did it.

Easy 2 man with 70 fire mage and 69 shadow preist. Mage AOE's groups until the eleite shows up then run around doing a frost nova and psychic screams until the quest completes then run out.

I'm a lvl 70 Protection Paladin and i had read what everyone said above and i solo'd it. Its not easy to Solo. But the jest of it is you have to survive for 2 Minutes after you start the shutdown and defend the console.

If your a Clothy you may need help form a Melee DPS that can take the hits while defending as they come in waves just like everyone else said above.

As a Paladin i did this on first try. I had on full tanking gear and as soon as you kill the oversear and start the shutdown. Start to tag the mobs around the console and use SoL or SoW and just play defense and move around while defending the console but same time try to pick up all the stray mobs. They come in waves just like everyone else said. You can drop a consecration once in a while. Key is just make sure the control is shutting down all the time. At the last 30 seconds the big engineer demons show up like 3 of them and the overseer does respawn and show up also (Should be 2 mins by then). Its one big mob fest. At that time i had my 2 mins already and i completed the quest. But by them i had like 20+ mobs on me all at once. I had to use LoH and pop a mana pot. In the end i died from just too many adds and out of mana. But that was a bit after the quest was completed. Its soloable but get ready for one long rolling fight. If tank use Tanking gear. It was a hell of a lot of fun.

Also solo'd as a Protection Paladin and must agree with Galoheart, it was a riot! I also had my full tanking gear on before I began. I had to LoH at about 30sec left and then bubbled when it was complete and ran out without dying. Didn't even have to pot... :)

Consecration is great to use to instantly get the NPC's off the console and immediately attacking you. Have fun all you fellow Tankadins!

Soloed as a 70 Holy Paladin in full healing gear. Just put blessing of light on yourself, rank 1 consecrate to tag the mobs, and heal away. You'll be spamming max rank holy light on yourself by the end, so you might have to use a mana pot and/or bubble.

Solo'ed as a PVP specced afflic/destro lock.

Seed of corruption spammed the little guys, dotted up and feared the big guys. Died with 10 seconds left after the elite spawned and got the completion.

Fairly simple, with the aid of a healthstone, a pot and howl of terror, I found it very easy to survive the 2 mins.

Mind, I do have 1800 healing, plus 50 with a pot I took, and yes, I did use a rejuv potion as well, but really not anything to write home about, fairly easy compared to the threads that i just read above!O_O

A trick to solo this is to wall jump, I did it as a 70 frost mage.

First clear out the casters on in the center of the room. Then face the crystal that you use to start the event, and go to the left side of it. There should be a slit between the crystal thing and the dome beside it- you can jump towards this and then from there jump up to the top of the dome.

You'll need to either have ranged aoe or be quick with targeting to finish it from here. Just do anything to damage the guys that run in, I used rank 1 blizzard as soon as any of them tried to stop the shutdown. You can't get hit up here, and you can easily solo it with some good aoe.

Just soloed as a Prot pally, not very geared. 10.8k Health and 424 Defense.

Pretty much just stayed alive for the 2 mins, Bubbled, Lay of hands and then Blessing of protection right at the end when the elite spawns to count down the timer then died.

No pots, Health stones and self buffed.

Solo'd as a 70 destro lock. Used rank 1 rain of fire on the little mobs standing on top of the dome behind the crystal. Took a few tries as one inevitably got away from me, but did it without dying!

Just soloed this as a 70 holy paladin. As people have correctly stated above, you do not need to kill any of the mobs; you just have to attack the technicians to stop them stopping the countdown and stay alive. Spam holy light with divine illumination and concentration aura, bubble and either a pot or lay on hands should last you the 2 mins. Even if you die towards the end, you can still complete the quest; just make sure not to release.

Still doable in 2.4.2, solo'd as frost mage. Evading them still works (unless u fall down like i did halfway through) and kiting them around for the full duration works as well, make sure nobody is touching the manaforge and you'll be fine (unless your manage to pick the one dead end for your escape route and failing invisibility like me ^_^)

Patch 2.4.3 Status = Bugged.

Tried to solo with my Dreamstate Druid, 3 attempts and called it quits. I killed \ interrupted each mob inside 0.5sec\before they even touched the center and the Shutting down messages continued up to 30 seconds left (each try). Seemed like mobs just kept and kept spawning without Shutdown and eventually I would get !@#$ed up by the core-carrying demon.

Invited a random Fire Mage, fought 4 Minutes with neverending mobs and we moved out due total oom and nothing happending. Killing the elite demon made no difference. Can't believe I wasted 30min+ for this crap. I wrote this so you might not have to :P

Solo'd it as a 70 healadin in almost full merciless...killed all mobs... none of them canceled the shutdown... bugged at 30 sec... I used 2 or 3 mana pots, countless fel iron bombs, bubbled twice... only for it to fail... ticked beyond all belief... great accomplishment... no reward... sucks.

I completed this recently as a 70 pally. I tanked most of the small mobs and healed through the damage (i'm ret), and killed the elite with about 5 guys on me. Make sure you clear the room before you start so you don't get more mobs than you have to.

Solo'd as an Arms Warrior with a mix of event epics (Scourge Event, Hallows End), 3 raid epix, random blues and 4 greens (So I'm not the best geared warrior out there by far).

All I had to do was round up all the mobs, and spam whirlwind and execute when sudden death popped up as much as I could (and ofc MS)

Popped Bladestorm when I had about 5-6 on me at once, but would not waste it on just the little spawns.

The elite did kill me, but with only about 10 seconds left to the countdown.

I DID NOT RELEASE.

The 10 seconds passed, and I got credit even while I was dead.

And that's how I did it!

I found it impossible to do (solo) as a 69 Retribution Paladin. I never died. I killed the elite at least five times and from what I can tell all the mobs, but it always seem to be one that sneaked in at the very last possible second and turned the forge back on. Five times, same deal.

Follow up... I went for it one last time. This time I got killed because I was running all over simply trying to prevent anyone from restarting the forge. While at the rezz spirit, it told me it was shutdown and completed... lol

I just soloed this as a 67 prot pally. Killed all the mobs that came in including the elite and survived for way over 2 minutes but the shutdown never completed for me...

P.S- Died at the end when the overseer charged me at the end

Solo'd as a 71 surv hunter. Try to keep things under control as long as you can, clear the whole room and use explo+frost traps.

Can be done solo by ranged classes (and perhaps with throwing weapons for melee) by using a trick.

Jump up on the control console and simply disrupt the adds disruption by hitting them with som espell or something. They cant see you up there, so they will simply stand and do nothing. Continue untill done.

After a while they will despawn, and quest complete without being harmed at all :)

When you start the shutdown there are groups of 3 tinkerers that start to appear and channel enegry into the console, you must attack them to stop them, otherwise they will reactivate it. They are not too strong individually but in groups of 3... Helped by other groups of 3 and eventual adds... Also occasionally large Mo'args appear, they don't try to reactivate the console but are stronger than the gan'arg tinkerers, and will simply attack you. Near the end a lvl 68 elite Mo'arg appears, you don't have to kill him either, just don't get killed BY him, he is banishable and probably other forms of CC also work. Don't know about enslave.

This may seem obvious but you don't need to kill the mobs in order to complete the quest. as long as you keep the mobs from shutting down the forge. Especially the elite at the end, you can kite all the mobs, just keep them off the objective!

I never finished this quest in Classic Burning Crusade, since I stopped playing. This appears to be broken in Classic Wrath of the Lich King? Starting the contdown works, but it fails to start ticking down. As a level 70 hunter, I managed to solo the little guys, but at no point did I see a timer tick down, like it did with the other forges back in CBC. Consequently, no elite shows up for me..

[You've done much better than any of us anticipated. Manaforge Ara is the last of Kael's working manaforges. You'll find it northwest of here, though you're likely to have to do some circumnavigating to get to it. We want you to shut it down.

The last access crystal is in the possession of Overseer Azarad. This is Kael's very last source of energy as far as we know, so expect heavy opposition. I'd bring a couple of friends along if I were you.
