First of all get the suit from the work bench behind the quest giver and go to the blue crystal with the 2 spinning globes around it and press 1

To finish this quest, you simply need to:

1. Click the bench behind the quest giver to become a mechanical
2. Walk over to the crystal which could be found 10 yards away from the quest giver
3. Click 1 to collect data.

this quest makes me so mad ! grrr, it won't let me do anything, I click the bench and go to the blue crystal and nothing, I hit '1' everywhere around it, and nothing, so I abandoned and logged out, still nothing. I give up ://

when u put on the suit dont move u should be standing on that square with fire one it , just press 1 then we got lift off

U need to stand on the glowing things on the ground, like utterly next to where u start. Jump, hover, land, dismiss, walk back, turn in quest.

COORECTION PEEPS.... its a real no-brainer quest. Just like the previous quest, you have to turn into that lil iron rune constructor creature by clicking the work bench and then walk up to the glowing blue crystal thing and collect the data... simply get out of your iron rune constructor creature and return the quest. SIMPLE

Key part of the quest text:

I've placed an iron dwarf relic in the cart over yonder. It's the floating, lightning infused crystal.

It's the purple crystal in the cart next to Gwendolyn. Face it, click on the "Collect Data" button on your action bar. You should get your quest completion text immediately.

Sorry, but it's not Ironman it's a reference to the Six Million Dollar Man, from the opening title sequence of the TV series. : )

I was able to figure it out, but no thanks to the confusing comments on this page. Behind Walt (the quest giver) are two benches. Get on the empty one and right click it, follow the directions. Then go to the blue crystal and press "1" to collect data - end of quest!

And yes, it is Six Million Dollar Man references.

For me, this quest was exactly the same as the harpoons. The vehicle abilities were not present until I logged out and disabled Dominos. Two quests, same problem.... only resolved with disabling a specific addon. The Vehicle bar in Dominos simply doesnt seem to be able to handle the instructions. Both only gave me the option to Leave the vehicle but no other action buttons. Technically there may be a deeper problem but on face value disabling Dominos does work.

It's a massive pain. But it works.

So for those people who insist on spreading their wisdom insisting that they have played the game forever and there is no addon issue... please desist.

Once in the Construct. go to the Blue Crystal right there in the camp.

When you get to the blue crystal collect the data by clicking on the launch icon from the previous quest.

[Walt at the Explorers' League Outpost in the Howling Fjord wants you to use the Iron Rune Construct's Collect Data ability while standing near the Iron Dwarf Relic.

Dismiss your construct by dismissing it from the pet window once you have completed the quest.]

Get on the work bench and I'll put you back in the construct. Once you're back in the driver's seat, use the construct's data collection ability to pick up the test data.]
