The effect will stack and renew the 10 secs untill you get a critical hit. a very nice trinket for dual wielding classes.

I could see this being fairly effective for a retribution paladin, considering everything we do is based on crit in one way or another. However, considering most of our actual damage seals are based on melee crit anyways, any trinket with straight +crit rating would probably win out.

I'm curious how this would work for a shadow priest? Does it tick up the +spell crit each time I do dmg (mind flay, sw:p ticking off dmg), only when I cast the spell, or does it only tick when it's a crit capable spell?

This is really only viable for very, very low crit builds. What's worse is that as you gear up and get more crit elsewhere on your gear, this trinket actually gets worse instead of scaling up like any number of easy-to-get crit trinkets with +AP procs.

I'm a survival hunter with 33% crit unbuffed (which makes this example easy). I'm critting, on average, 1 shot in 3.
Shot 1: Trinket is worth 0 crit rating; non-crit
Shot 2: Trinket is worth 17 crit rating; non-crit
Shot 3: Trinket is worth 34 Crit rating; crit, trinket returns to zero
It caps out at 34 crit rating, but the average benefit over this time period is only 17 crit rating. A trinket with passive +crit on it, like the Hourglass of the Unraveller, gives its crit rating to each of the three shots. Sure I go longer without a crit sometimes, but I also crit consecutively on a regular basis at which point this trinket is worth nothing.

Now let's say that you are a protection warrior desperately trying to farm to satisfy your draconian raid leaders. You have a whopping 10% crit when you equip this trinket:
Swing 1: worth 0 crit; non-crit
Swing 2: worth 17 crit; non-crit
Swing 3: worth 34 crit; non-crit
Swing 4: worth 51 crit; non-crit
Swing 5: worth 68 crit; non-crit
Swing 6: worth 85 crit; non-crit
Swing 7: worth 102 crit; non-crit
Swing 8: worth 119 crit; non-crit
Swing 9: worth 136 crit; non-crit
Swing 10: worth 153 crit (7%); crit
By the time you crit by default, you've almost doubled your crit rating but as often as not you will crit before you swing 10 times; the average is 76.5 crit rating, or 3.5% crit. Even so, your second swing is more likely to crit than your first because of the stacks, and so on down the line, making it less likely to stack fully to 10, and reducing the overall effect somewhat (I cheated at the math :/).

In the end, it benefits either player over an empty trinket slot but if you have any kind of +crit in your itemization this is probably a waste for you over any number of dropped/quested blue trinkets. And if your gear sucks today, but in the forseeable future you will have more +crit, this trinket's contribution will steadily diminish as you gear up.

Evaluating this trinket as if it were equivalent to a straight +crit trinket overlooks a lot of its real value. What this trinket excels at is making worst-case performance substantially better, not making average-case performance substantially better. For average-case performance, it still offers impressive gains to characters with low crit.

For characters who have buffs that proc on crit -- Flurry, Unleashed Rage, Vengeance -- a long string of no crits can seriously harm your damage output, because you're waiting for that crit to amplify everything else. If you have a 25% crit rate, a streak of 8 attacks without a crit is about 10% likely, whereas with this card, it's only about 7% likely. That's about 1 in 30 fights where Flurry/Unleashed Rage/Vengeance is up consistently where it wouldn't be without. The average crit chance gain is only .6%, but the likelihood of very bad scenarios is significantly reduced.

For characters who don't get AP from agility -- warriors and shamans, basically -- this trinket also offers a way to get a dramatic boost in crit rating without having to load on agility at the expense of attack power, strength, and stamina. You can re-select your itemization to account for the fact that this trinket will boost your crit and minimize your worst-case scenarios.

Equating this trinket with its average case conversion to critical strike rating does not really account for the power of its stacking-buff model.

This is actually a very good trinket, maybe in PvE your gear gets more crit and so does your PvP gear but PvP gear also gains one very important stat...resilience! This trinket ensures a crit sooner or later. I know a few Arena Warriors that are picking this up and I'm also thinking about grabbing it for my PvP elemental shaman. I give this trinket 2 thumbs up!!

I think it's a nice trinket. On my Moonkin I try to stack spell damage more than crit (I figured with all the resilience gear I might as well get higher DPS instead of a higher crit%), so if I get this I can basically spam a few MOOOOnfires, and with this trinket, that's like replacing a few pieces of gear, off of an instant-cast spell which is already hitting harder than average because I went with spell damage instead of crit%, but now I have the crit% too, and it only took me like, a second o.0

No 1 has posted before that this trinket would be amazing for pallys 2. After the latest pach retardins are based on their AP and crits so if any daredevill wanna try this i think it would be amazed with the results.Plz if any1 gets it post if is good! :D

Really nice for Moonkins. If you look at their gear, it's almost all +spell damage, hardly any crit. Half of a Moonkins damage comes from critting (see talent "Vengeance"), and seeing as we have no talent that keeps our mana super high, aside from Innervate (which now is only for spirit-based mana regeneration, which it's pretty pointless for a Moonkin to have spirit, and Innervate has a long cool down so it's not useful for every fight) if we're not critting, we're rather pointless to have around. Most of the time with this trinket I throw a few wraths out, then if it doesn't crit, start with the Starfire's and keep using those until I get a crit. Works quite well.

This trinket is awesome. Shamans depend on crits and crits alone. I have 3 things popping up on a crit; flurry, focus and Unleashed Rage. Basicly no crits is no dmg. And do note that if a WF crits it does about 5 times the dmg as a normal swing. This trinket boosts my crit by a lot making it essential for my cheering after crushing victory :)

Great trinket for Moonkins. In PvP or PvE, all their dmg rotations consist on direct dmg (Moonfire, Starfire or Wrath... Insect Swarm is out of this count), so this trinket will do wonders helping them to easily proc Nature's Grace, allowing to focus on Spellhit (if not capped) and Spelldmg.

Survival hunters depend on crit to buff group and do most of the damage and mages dont usually have 30+% to crit like warriors/some other melee/ranged classes...

IMO the real benifit to this deck is you can increase other areas of your toon with say AP gems and use the deck for your crits. That way you could have the best of both worlds. Yes a normal MM hunter likes to keep his crit chance high, but to do it their enchants and gems go in that direction, with this deck you don't have to do that.

Have a shadowpriest and was pretty intrigued by this item.

Kinda worthless for me though, I suppose. Direct damage spells are by definition, a spell with a casting time and damage at the end of that. So really the only direct damage spell i have on my shadowpriest would be mind blast.

Each time one of your direct damage attacks does not critically strike, you gain 17 critical strike rating and 17 spell critical strike rating for the next 10 sec. This effect is consumed when you deal a critical strike. (Stacks up to 20 times)

if Shadow priest wanna go the mage playstyle, they could simply spam MF and get a very very high crit rate and shoot off their MB and SW:D with a nice 4 k crit or even more.

As a MM/Surv Hunter I was definitely intrigued by this item when I first looked at it. When I thought about it though I think it's not as good as it sounds. My chance to crit is about 30%, so I crit probably 1 in 3 or 4 shots. So maybe after shooting 2 or 3 arrows without getting a crit my crit rating would have risen a bunch, making it more likely to get a critical hit, but I'm probably going to get one anyway! But then again even though I'm supposed to crit every 3 or 4 shots that's not always the case, but I think this item is way more useful for someone with a lower crit chance.

This is IMO and yes i know probably a contraversial one here but what the hell.
This is a holy priest trinket, possably other healers but only got a priest so wouldnt want to guess.
Inspiration is a massive help for a tank, 25% armor buff thank you very much but most holy priests max out on +healing and have a crit rating of around 9-10%
Tis card is clearly of most use to those with a low crit rating and over a boss fight would easyly be more than worthy of the prayor book your replacing with it.

The item is worthless to me, already have a 40% critical rate without using it. So every other spell criticals all ready. No point of it, rather replace the trinket with a spell damage one (Icon of the Silver Crescent, Mag's Eye, Quagmarine, etc).

And yes a well geared mage comes with enough crit to not need it.

40% crit and 1,110 spell damage , and yes even for raids, so sue me.
