It's the highest +spellhit ring in the game, so some people will definitely want this. For some Warlocks who don't care at all about INT, it looks even better.

Not a bad ring for a Mage tanking Firehand in the Maulgar encounter (Gruul's Lair). Nice stam, and the +hit means less chance of Spellsteal resists - which can be fatal, let alone cost you a lot of mana to recast anyway.

Similar to Seal of the Exorcist (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=28555).

Would depend on how many points you have in Arcane Focus though, as to whether you're hitting the +hit cap or not.

This is an excellent warlock ring, especially for an Affliction lock wanting to max out the +hit cap. It adds 1.57% spell hit and shouldn't be too hard to get exalted since you'll be running a lot of Heroic Underbog and Slave Pens (two of the easiest heroics).

Ashyen's Gift's claim to fame is that it has the highest spell hit rating of any pre-raid caster ring.

Affliction warlocks and shadow priests will rejoice over the high spell power as well.

As a tanking paladin, I sometimes use Ashyen's Gift as one of my tanking rings because the high hit rating reduces resists on my threat moves (Judgement of Righteousness, for example).

I use this in my mages tanking set for Firehand, massive +stam is the main reason. Helps me get that 10k HP buffed :)

Shouldnt this come in handy for destrolocks (like me) who dont raid highend PvE? I believe the +spellhit is superior to the +13 critrating I got on the ring I wanna switch out.

On mobs where I don't need every bit of defence I can get, such as heroics and out in the world, I use this on my paladin tank. It's a nice amount of stamina, and a little bit of spell hit helps a lot since there's very little on my other gear.

I am also looking forward to getting it for my moonkin alt later on (he's more excited about this than earthwarden, although I'll probably still get that as well;)

This ring is for one thing, raids.

It gives a lot of hit rating, which is a rare thing to find on decent mage gear.

I have both epic rings, but I am going to buy this one {despite it not being as good} for the + hit

You need about 60 + hit to be effective in karazstan and over 100 hit rating to do anything in Gruul's Lair.

I'm currently in kara and this ring will push me to almost 90 hit, which will make my spell hurt a lot worse.

If you have low hit you may suffer from, "resisted" spells and spells not doing nearly as much damage as on normal mobs.

Literaly speaking not enough hit means you are a lot more likely to miss your target with your spell, or not hit it with ALL of your spell thereby lowering you dps in the raid.

for pvp though, this ring blows, no crit and no int.

Comparable to the Seer's Signet, more stam, hit instead of crit and abit less damage. Probably generally abit better for pvp as well as for affliction locks/shadow priests, but overall underwhelming for a 70 epic.

That helped me alot while tanking Krosh Firehand in Gruul's. Having alot of stamina (to stay alive, have at least 12k hp) and spell hit to spellsteal the Fire Shield effectively is a must.

That's all I'm going to say about this ring.

Maxing it is nice, but as a mage we shouldn't sacrifice TOO much crit for hit. lrn2itemize.

Correction, as a mage you shouldn't sacrifice too much HIT for crit.

Maxing spell hit rating is not just nice, it's an absolute must. By the time you enter SSC, you should have spell hit capped with 950+ spell dmg and 30+% crit self buffed bare minimum. Of course most probably have a little less, those numbers assume you have all you can get before starting ssc.

Capping spell hit is the best thing you can do when gearing for raids. Focus on hit first, than +dmg. When you've got good numbers for those you can tweak some more crit, as long as it remains capped.

Also, if you have a draenei in the group, you can get away with 1% less with their racial. ^_^

Everyone who says crit > hit is a moron :-)

As a Mage caping hit should be your highest priority.
With getting exalted in the next days and this baby on I'll finally reach the cap without an elemental shaman in group.
So I can always chose between this ring and the chess event ring if I got an elemental shaman in Grp.

Be sure to have in mind: A spell that doesn't hit can never crit :-)

take my advice this is comes froma mage who did The Eye, Hyjal and moving to BT

my crit is 31% chance with fire, 35% with scorch
and i did get this ring it put me at 12% hit

this is a must for every mage who wants do raid. untill u can find better, and better ring comes from Magtheridons head quest, or as far as ive seen... just dont listne to all these ppl claiming that this sucks, IT DOES NOT.

When i 1st started raiding kara... I ignored spell hit... my hit rating was 40.

I also noticed with mobinfo2 (as a fire mage) 15% resist on bosses with fire that I thought was way too high. I then got some hit gear... put + spell hit enchant on gloves... tweaked a few gems and got it up to 150 after getting this ring.

Next kara I more than halved the number of spells resisted and topped the dps.

Prev week with same group was 18%ish of the damage... with the extra hit it went to 25%... coincidence? I think not.

I'm a shadow priest and i LOVE this ring, since shadow priests don't need + crit. Only one of the spells we use can crit :P
