It is important to note that with the addition of the flying mounts comes the question of, do I need both ground riding skills to get the flying riding skills. The answer is sadly yes. One of my first days playing the expansion I traveled to Shadowmoon Valley (the location of the town that sells the flying mounts) to find out. Journeyman Riding (100% speed ground mounts) is skill 150 and when you go to get Expert Riding (225 skill) for the 60% speed flying mounts it says next to it: (Requires: Lvl 70, Rdiing 150). <br> <br>The 60% speed Flying skill is 800g and the 280% speed Flying mounts (Artisan Flying Skill 300) have a skill cost of a whopping 5000g. At the same time however these mounts are vital to being able to access all the new content offered by the Burning Crusade Expansion. Many new dungeons and complete zones will only be accessible with these mounts.

This is one of the new Horde flying mounts, available at 70 from a vendor in Shadowmoon Village, Shadowmoon Valley. The mount costs 100g (no discount available) and the 225 training to ride it is 800g, so you have to spend 900g total. The 225 flight training is required to learn the epic 300 flight training as well, so there's no reason not to learn it.

This mount is actually slower than a ground epic mount, moving at 60% speed both on the ground and in the air (the same speed as a level 40 mount). However, you can fly over mountains and canyons that you would have to run around on a ground mount, so it is a good investment until you can afford an epic mount. Of course, you can only use a flying mount in Outland.

Cryx, is just 40% faster. you will need a longggggg test that needs about like 5-10 mins of raiding on each mount.
and maybe you were counting too fast or too slow for one of them. I did the test my self I was on epic mount and my friend has on hes flying reg mount and I won he was half flying and half on ground

I would have to say it's the best looking out of the Horde 225 skill mounts. (Better than the green and blue.)

This one is nice as its a copy of orcish FP mounts. doesnt fly that fast however =)

Macros to summon this mount attempt to use the ITEM Tawny Wind Rider instead of the MOUNT Tawny Wind Rider.

The single-purpose mount macro will not work:
#showtooltip
/cast Tawny Wind Rider; Swift Blue Raptor
/dismount

This appears to be a bug with 3.0. To fix it, log out and back in after learning your mounts.

Hmmmm i bought cwf (im 74 lvl) for the 800g, but still now i have the error while try to ride on wyvern in northend (u cant use this here). What the bug >.< ?

This mount, as well as the other Swift XXXX Wind Riders, have been added to the mount vendor in Dalaran, Mei Francis, as of Patch 3.1.2.

The saddles on these fellows seem to be experiencing some graphical difficulties. Click "view in 3D", it's now apparently part of the wing.

At neutral the price (now) is 600g, at friendly its 570, and i dont know the rest.

From patch now only requires lvl 60, can be bought at Thrallmar from the dude in stables, and the mount itself only costs 50g

Look, what is wrong with you people, dont u guys get FLYING MOUNT, i think its worth the 900g cause u can avoid aggro, and it gets u around, we all thought 60% were fast at 40 right?

yes it is perfect to aviod unwanted enemys, i just got my ground epic at lvl 63 but im allready saving for my flying mounts

just got my regular ground epic and now all the gold that I make everyday will be sent to my bank character so that I can buy one of these at 70. Remember, 60% is a lot because you can avoid aggroing stuff like was already mentioned, plus you can avoid terrain. Yeah, my black war wolf may be faster in a straight line, but who ever rides a straight line? when you are on the ground you have to go around mountains, follow path curves, etc. Once you get this though, you can actually take the shortest route from point a to point b.

What happens if you(or your $%^&*!@ brother) destroys it. Can you destroy it in the first place anyway or is it like a spell like the warlocks dreadsteed. Or is it an item like the regular ground mounts? thanks for any help

i think its just destroyed =/ but the training is the expensive part, so even though 100 gold is a big loss, its not too bad

Hey am a druid and since i have flying form i can't touch the ground. So should i just buy this mount just for the fun of it?

Im also getting my fly mount because: you cant get inside TK instances, cant go to karazhan, cant do any daily quests without fly mount, cant get in caverns of time: hyjal summit, and black temple. There is alot of excuses to buy the mount so 800g isn't anything. Just start saving a bit soon as you land to Outland and you should get around 2k when you hit 70.

who cares if 60% is slow? the real advantage to this is that you can get the the TK instances and the Doom Lord Kazzak Raid. That's the real advantage. Once you have 5000g however, is where the real flying advantage comes in. It's so fast, (280%) that you don't need to buy flight paths anywhere. It's sick.
Flyer= completed Dungeon 3 armor set and teir 5 chest
Fast Flyer= all that and no more buying flights
