Your 'Twink' would have to be level 50+ to achieve the level of Engineering required to wear these goggles, so there isn't exactly much point.

After 5, I do mean 5, tries I finially made a pair "of the Bear", these will hold me over til I get the Primal Nether for the Tankotronic Goggles. And yes I am a 54 Arms Warr with only 2pts in Prot.

the stam version of these goggles are definitely the most unique because very few items in the world of warcraft will give you close to 100 stamina.

These goggles are also some of the best for disenchant into large prismatic shards for engineers. You'll get plenty of blood garnets from mining, arcane dust will follow if you get an enchanting friend to disenchant your greens and then you just need to ally yourself with a skinner for the heavy knothide leather.

Buying all the mats on the AH, disenchanting the product and selling the shards might be profitable for you, check your AH before use :)

Depending on the going rates for arcane dust and knothide leather, you could pretty much break even or make a slight profit out of these if you have an enchanter to shard them for you. Inexpensive way to skill up engineering.

Can anyone tell me at what skill level the recipe turns green?

I tried it out, and it turns green at 360.

i have made about 15 of these pieces of crap for the bandit and still no drop /sigh at 33% chance to drop. I have been getting of the Defense and Nature Damage so lame !

The Stealther's Helm of Second Sight is better when socketed, although much more expenive after you factor in the cost of the gems: https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=31109

IMHO, the hit rating alone on the stealther's helm is more than enough to justify using it over these goggles, even though the gogles have 16 more stamina.

Well i did a bit of research and it was fast but i came to this-

I know the Stealthers helm has +hit but i would rather have the + stam and agility

Made something like 10-15 now, still not seen "of the Bandit". Mostly useless stuff like falcon, eagle, wolf, got one of arcane protection and one of the invoker, but couldn't sell those either.

Sure, at 70 there might be something better...

But I'm a level 50 engineer. I just got ported to Shattrath (well, no, I've had Shattrath as my hearth since level 25 or so...Glad I have mage friends), trained up to master level engineering, spent some of my spare gold from my main, and trained up to 340 engineering. Blammo, I'm a level 50 rogue, wearing Cogspinner Goggles of the Bandit.

Engineering tends to benefit the people who put the money into skilling it up first. At level 20, an advanted target dummy will out-threat you on every mob in the area and live through any number of level 20s attacking it. At 35, a dragonling will kill your enemies one-on-one, without your help. At 40, the mithril one does that, at 50, the arcanite one. By 60, they are all useless. The real advantage of most engineering items comes early. These are decent level 70 items if you don't raid or do heroics. And they are better than the rest of my equipment combined at level 50. :)

The Average Cost to make 5 of these in my Server (Lightbringer) is about 120 to 130g.

Disenchanting all 5 gives 5 Prismatic Shards/Void Crystals.
Prismatic (13-20g each), Void crystals (12-17g each.)

That's 65g-100g (all prismatic), or 60g-85g (all Void Crystals.)

So for those that had a large "make big profit plan", This is a cheap way to level but Doesn't pull off a profit. Or at least it doesn't in my Server.

ps: Although, i'm going to Farm the Leather on my skinner so that'll reduce the price of 5 by 55g. Leaving it about 80g. Making the Cost almost nothing, or possibly 5-20g Profit.

Edit: Also to Note, The BO price Wowhead says is 30g (i see them at 75g but they never sell). if making 5 costs 120-130g and you sell all 5 for 150g. Good on you and there is a Certain Profit instead of taking your chances with Shards or wasting lots of time finding a friend with Enchanting.

I saw this Cogspinner Goggles of the Bandit on AH for only 10g, when I was playing on my sub.
So, what did I do?

Logged in my main, took the fly taxi to Org, as soon as I got there I mounted and jumped right off from FP tower to AH ground, and bought this baby for 10g.. and hurting myself 1700hp.

But to despite that, it wasn't all that bad I had a friend of mine DE all the ones I didn't want and sold all the shards and about made a profit.

I made 15 of those just now.
Mainly i wanted to skill my engineering, but as a lvl 51 feral druid I hoped for a of the bandit ofc.

This is what i got from making 15 pcs.

3x of the bandit
3x of frost protection
2x of nature protection
2x of defence
2x of the falcon
1x of the beast
1x of the monkey
1x of nature's wrath

I started out with skill 354. Making 15 pcs, made me end up at skill 363.

Took me 18 before I got my 'of the Invoker' I wanted (balance druid), I did however get several 'of the bandit' and 1 'of the beast'. Was hoping to get a pair 'of the hierophant' for off spec healing but I'm sick of farming leather now, lol.

All in all this is a fairly inexpensive item to make with a nice resale value(shards). Not too many engineering items can say that.

these goggles are much like the Green Lens, the <Random Enchantment> isn't displayed here, but it is in game, but since the patch there has been alot more suffixes. it's just a shame that they will only be usefull to rogues and dr00ds :-(

Do not start trying to make a specific enchant on these goggles unless you are prepared to spend alot of gold on mats. It will NOT be the 1. thing you get unless you are really really lucky. It will come out with all kinds of crappy enchants. I made 8 cogspinner goggles yesterday and didnt get anything remotely useable to rogues if you dont count the one with 88 stamina (zomg o0). and the str/stamina one. Mats might be cheaper on your server but i payed about 25g a pair of goggles which isnt too bad, except ill probably have to make 15+ pair before i get my bandit pair, so its gonna be a pretty expensive hat.

Made 2. Got of healing and of the owl. Healing was 120 something (awesome as a level 50 pally!) Owl was 39 int, 39 spirit. (do druids care about spirit or is this total junk? lol)

BTW... anybody disenchant these yet? Wondering what you get from it.

I made these until I got my Bandit pair, tried to sell the others with no luck and decided to get em disenchanted to see what I got.

All 4 pairs I had disenchanted yielded a Large Prismatic shard. Much better than wasting time trying to sell the goggles themselves.

For Cogspinner Goggles (340), look for Lebowski in Honor Hold to the right side of the entrance of the main keep in the main compound @56.65. He is stood by a siege machine.

Its a limied edition recipie (1).

He also sells the limited edition (1) recipe:Ultra Spectropic Detection goggles(350).

While I applaud Blizzard for including these in the latest patch, I have to wonder just why 1/3rd of the classes was excluded from using these?

These are leather only, unlike the epic crafted goggles that require primal nether to make and come in different armor categories.

Only 2 classes wear leather as their highest armor value (druids and rogues), and while not the best armor, I can well see a warrior (or other more heavily armored class) engineer going for these leather ones if the right stats come out (eg. of the soldier, of the bandit, of the sorceror for shamans etc.).

Three classes however are gyped from this benefit until they can acquire a primal nether (bind on pickup from level 70 dungeon bosses, or turning in 10 heroic badges, which also drop form the same bosses). As some in this post can attest, there are 'toons' below the level to go thru the portal that have these sweet goggles on already. I myself have a 55 rogue with 'of the bandit' ones.

Why do the mages, warlocks and priest engineers need to wait until end game to get their decent engineering gear?

Seems a bit unbalanced in it's role out, but a good first try to make engineering 'worthwhile' again in the expansion.

<EDIT>

Answered my own question....there is a random drop called power amplification goggles that is for cloth versions...set stats, but pretty nice overall. Guess it is off to see about that random drop in the auctions......

But wow, the mats are cheap. After levelling up blacksmithing on my main, and getting all the results of that disenchanted, I have *stacks* of Arcane Powder. Green gems drop from mining nodes at a ridiculous rate, so this is like a free conversion from Arcane Dust -> Shards for me.

I DE'd a cogspinner goggle of the bandit today and it gave me a Void Crystal. So Large prismatic shard isn't 100%. There is a possibility to get a Void Crystal which is better.

These arent too bad to make, the mat cost is about 20g and if you dont like what you get you can disenchant them and sell the Large Prismatic Shard for 20-30g. You could possible make a few gold depending on the time of day. Doesnt make up for the 1000s you threw into it all but its still nice.

4th try got bandit. Yipee! Made 3 more since I had the mats already on me. 5th got a Monkey 39agi/59stam.. very nice... Otherwise got wolf, whale, frost prot, fire prot, spi. Mats really weren't taht bad. I had plenty gems, half the knothide I bought for 1g each from a guildy and the other half I payed 2g each for from AH. I have/had hundreds of Arcane dust on another char so I can barely count that. So for 7 goggles I spent max 40g on leather.
(if you want to include the cost of dust on my server (1.25g each) then that would be 56x1.25-70g)

7 lps x 25g (norm cost/shard on server) = 175g

So my cost just leather: 40g
Total cost if purchased dust and leather: 130g

Basically, with my own dust I could make a huge profit. Buying dust would be a decent profit.

I love engineering now.. I just gained 800hp as a lvl 50 hunter b/w those goggles and my gnomish pultryizer. :P

Edit: Still buying leather at 2g ish each and using my own dust/gems I just made 3 more... Wolf, Nature's Wrath, and a 2nd Bandit.

I have made about 6 of these so far, to LVL up my engineering I am 367 atm and its green so the last 3 I made didn't lvl it once.

All 6 I made I dis-enchanted (Large P Shard) and sold

Mats cost me 30g to make, Have a go and make a couple.
