Tough quest if you don't know how to approach it. The Hexed Trolls are easy to kill as they only use Immolate on you. Make sure to use any kind of slowing or rooting spell just before you kill them as all of these NPC's will run away at low health.

The Voodoo Troll's will use one of two spells during the fight, lightning shield and healing wave. They may use both depending on how long the fight goes. If you have some kind of interrupt spell at level eight'ish, use it when they try to heal. The fight and drag out for very long if it's not used.

Zalazane is pretty easy. He doesn't do much damage, but will heal. Make sure to interrupt that. Additionally, he may use a shrink curse on you that reduces strength and stamina. It's not much to be worried about as he is still killable even after cursed.

For this quest, you must go south of Sen Jin Village, to Echo Islands. You will find both kinds of trolls, including Zalazane. Very easy, good grind, and good xp.

Yes, as stated above can be hard if isn't approached correctly.

I'm thinking most of the time when you go to tackle this quest you'll be 2 or 3 levels lower than Zalazane. The key is to watch his walking path. He will do a small walk around the camp, then walk up a small ledge where he will stop, turn around then go back down & continue his walking.

If you get inbetween the camp and the water you'll be able to pull him alone without any problems from adds. Either make sure you fight on top of the small ledge or get him down to the beach.

A shortcut to doing this quest:

1. Zalazane walks back and forth. His path leads him to the top of the hill where Minshina's skull is.
2. Important: there is another ramp (I'll call the "Back door") opposite to the one he walks up. This one is less conspicuous and is the one you should walk up to fight him.
3. At the bottom of the Back door is a Hexed Troll and a Raptor.
4. They are separated far enough for you to take down individually.
5. After taking them out, walk up the Back door and patiently wait for him to return to the top.
6. Confront him isolated from his henchman.

I recommend you to be on level 8 or higher to maximise your chances of winning if you solo. He casts a nasty 2 minute curse which reduces your strength and stamina by 3. Here would be a good opportunity to blow your cooldowns and potions if the going gets tough.

After this quest you can speak with the Witch Doc' and get alot of diffrent kinda stuff, like get really drunk, hexed, bigger, "ghostly" and get blown up into the air ;) its really fun, btw, they're random!

Zalazane is stands at a hill in cords 68,88 in Echo Isles. He's a level 10 non elite.
You need to kill him to get his head. Around him you can find Hexed Troll's and Voodoo Troll's.

Did it with my level 8 Troll Rogue, good luck!

Location: Their all found at island in echo isles in the back

Mobs: Zalazane is in the middle of the town hes level 10 and he patrols from on the mountain (67,87) where you can find Minisha's skull https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=808 then he patrols north into the camp
The troll dudes are found all around zalazane, they are 8-9 mobs. Also be carefull the voodoo trolls can heal themselves
The agro radius was huge for me, i was level 8

i found this to be rather impossible as a level 7 hunter. there's no way to stop the heals, or to kill them before they heal.

If you find yourself really struggeling with Zalazane, a last option is to just run straight for the ramp and die there. When you get back to your corpse, just ress when he walks down from the ramp, and wait for him to return. This way you can fight him without pulling adds, and also easily pick up Minshina's skull.

This quest is much easier for anyone who can do ranged damage. Personally I Mark him, put on my racial berzerk as soon as he's in range and slap him with some Sticky Glue. Then as a Hunter I fired each of my special shots. He healed once, shrank me once, and died very quickly. This was done at level 7, so don't give up. That sticky glue can really really help you, just remember that you have it!

I soloed this quest very easily as a Lv 8 Orc Hunter. Use a Really Sticky Glue (reward for "A Solvent Spirit") on him and back up a bit, use Arcane Shot every time it's up. You should be able to out-DPS his healing pretty easily, even with being cursed with Shrink.

Just soloed as a Lvl 8 Orc Warrior. Just be careful of your aggro. I didn't use Really Stick Glue b/c the drop rate on that quest is awful and its not worth the time. Just have healing pot and you'll be fine.

The Hexed Trolls are very easy to defeat and they won't cause any class much grief. However, the Voodoo Trolls and Zalazane both heal themselves when their HP gets low and they dish out plenty of damage. If you don't have the ability to interrupt spells and you can't sustain long-ish fights, then you should definately team up for this quest. There are usually plenty of people on the island unless your playing early in the morning or late at night.

this quest it actually quite significant, if you make a troll DK at a part of a quest another troll guy will say "we killed zalazane and took his head and freed the echo isles!"

You should try to find someone to help you because this quest is hard. the boss will aggro with 1 or 2 other mobs *( they hit hard) so be careful. if you get lucky and he only aggros 1 other mob go for the boss even if you die you still get the loot.

A small guide for this quest:
This quest is not very easy for it's level.
On the Island you can find Raptors, Tigers and Trolls. All have a pretty high aggro range.
If you aggro more than 2 mobs, you are pretty much dead assuming you are level 7-8 (without heirlooms).
The Tigers can't swim (and maybe the Raptors too if i remember well), so if you aggro them you can go to water.
Try to enter the ruins without aggroing tigers and raptors. After you are in, engage a troll at a time and fight.
Remember to heal yourself every mob. And drink.
Hexed Trolls: Pretty easy, their only special attack is Immolate. You shouldn't have trouble.
Voodoo Trolls: They are pretty hard for some classes. They cast Lightning Shield on themselves, and they heal at low life. If you can interrupt their heal, do it. (If you are a Paladin for example, HoJ does the work. Why a Blood Elf would level on the Echo Isles is beyond me though.) If you can't, basically they have two health bars.
If you have trouble with their melee attacks you can kite them pretty easily with a Hunter or Mage.
Zalazane: Pretty easy, ironically. He patrols a small area near the Minshina Skull hill. Just make sure to pull him alone.
He shrinks you (reducing some stats) and heals himself. Treat him like a Voodoo Troll.

Zalazane is tough, level 10 that heals a lot during the fight, be sure to have potions, bandages, anything that can help.

soloed it easy with lvl 8 priest..
just crowd control dont aggro more then 1 take em out one by one i came from the right take the guy out in the hut.. wait until zalazane goes up the hill so u dont aggro him 2. if u need to use some of that sticky stuff and have healing potions

Level 9 Troll Warrior, Soloed in easy. Just picked off the other trolls around him until it was him and another one left. I focused him, looted then ran. Healed and came back, finished up looting/killing the remaining ones i needed to complete the quest and then handed in. Not too hard. Cheers!

I got cocky and tried it at lvl 7 as a warrior, no chance in hell of me beating him as yet, i can handle him ok by himself, but cant aviod all his buddies in the process.

First of all; the trolls are all found at the largest island. So dont bother to go to the other islands where you just will find raptors and tigers.

Zalazane spawns around 67,88 and he is patroling in a small area around these coords. So wait until you can do a clean pull without aggroing any other trolls.

did this at lvl 7 as a shaman, no problem it's all about using your head. sneak in the back and grab the skull for the quest before this, and turn it in, your reward is a one time use weapon that is really nice. then sneak in the back again, pop an earthbind and lightning, when he gets to you, as casts his curse, earth shock, that'll delay the curse. then just fight and heal, remember to use earthshock each time heal heals as it will break the heal and make it so he can't try to heal for 2 seconds. when he's low on health use the glowing skull and he's gone.

I did it with lvl 7 Orc Warrior!

Sneaked up behind (southern part) and took him off solo.

He is really a pain in THE ASS!
He heals himself 1 time and uses curse to shrink the enemy.

-2 Strenght
-2 Agility
I think it was those stats on the curse.

Warning -Voodoo trolls are no funny to attack.
They heal and use magic in melee!

i soloed this as a lvl 7 rogue and its real easy. The trick is simple: wait till he does his little patrol around the place, and while hes doin that, get the skull. Then u have to go bak to the village ad turn the quest in to get the skull. Then go bak and make sure no other trolls are patrolling around and just start fightin normal, usin abilities and what not. The, when hes down to about half health, but not to low so he heals, use the skull. Hopefully u get a good number and he should die instantly. works like a charm

Just killed this gy with lvl 8 orc hunter, but haveing problems with npc quest giver not being able to complete quest even though i have the head in my backpack :\

This ques was super easy. I just did it with a level 6 Orc Warrior. Go to the southermost point of the largest of the islands. Go north up the hill to your right. If he's not there, retrieve the skull. He will show up soon. Use the glue on him if you have it, then I just used heroic strike, followed by thunder clap and rend, then heroic strike 2 more times. Easy as pie.

Put hunters mark on him, serpent sting + arcane shot, then when he was close to me i did raptor strike after that kited him some way back using arcane shots and keeping serpent sting on him. no pots

Well, I just did the quest with my Level 8 Undead Mage. I climbed up the small hill from the south and waited for him to walk up it (You should start Mashina's Skull while doing this one -- Avoid making 2 trips.) and when he got far enough away from his buddies where he wouldn't pull aggro, I just Frostbolted him twice to make him slow down a lil' bit, then Firebolted away 2 more times before he was dead. If you're a Mage / Shaman / Warlock you can take him down pretty fast. Only problem you could face with this quest is aggro'ing his buddies.

If you're a Warrior / Paladin, then just run up to him and beat the living @#$% out of him. Make sure you do it on the hill though, so you don't aggro anybody.

By the way, he patrols around 66,88. You know, on that big island. Good luck. :)

Fighting Zalazane himself was actually very easy for my level 9 Troll Shammy. A level 40-something had just come through and killed everything, but I waited a minute or two for Zally to respawn and started Lightning Bolting him at maximum range. Got three or four zaps in before he got to me, no casting from him in the meantime, and I started meleeing him until he tried to heal at about 40% health. Earth Shocked him, meleed him a few more times, he was down. He's not that strong at meleeing himself. I haven't quite finished off all the Hexed and Voodoo Trolls I need to nail, but since they like to cast Immolate, giving me more time to Bolt them, the only problem I've faced so far is keeping my mana up. Easily soloable, I'd say

This quest should be combined with Minisha's skull.

I solo'd this as a lvl 8 troll priest, and it's simple.

First, swim out to the island and walk up somewhere around the western coast (the coast you naturally arrive at) on the big island in the middle. Stay in the water and make sure there are no Bloodtalon Taillashers or Durotar Tigers nearby, they are disturbing.

Remember that the durotar tiger can aggro at 30 yard range.

Then sneak around and pull mobs that wander alone in the outskirts.

Whenever you are ready you walk across the island to the eastern coast, but beware, there is a Bloodtalon Taillasher patrolling that coast.
Anyway, sneak up behind the plateau where minisha's skull is, there mightbe one or two trolls to take care of first, but then, waitfor zalazane to get off the hill, then walk up on it and take the skull.

Then you continue your waiting until he aproaches the hill, there you start spamming him with spells.

If you melee, just wait forhim to aggro

Then he should be easy as pie, unless he heals, then he is annoying.

When zalazane lays dead and you've looted his corpse you can easily pull two voodoo trolls one by one from where you stand (voodoo trolls are hard to find, since they mostly dwell in the center of the village).

Once finished, simply leave the island, or die and spawn @ spirit healer.

Could also be combined with Practical Prey and Break a few eggs.

any1 who says this is hard is wrong im lvl7 priest havent finishd but took down zalazane ina few secs jsut go up tht hill where he walks up grab minish skull then when he gets up there blast him with like 6 smites and he should eitehr be dead or he healing hit him smites few more times and he run or he dead easy as pie :)!

Use the things that you get for questing in Senjin. If you did Minshina's Skull before Zalazane like I did you should have Faintly Glowing Skull. You should also have Really Sticky Glue. Both of those will help a ton.

LVL 7 hunter kill FTW. Used glue from previous durator mission to fix him in place and wail on him with arcane shot. He never did try to heal himself though.

I solo'd as level 6 warlock.....I first completed Minshina's Skull then got Faintly Glowing Skull.....After he heal's, its realy realy good if u use it staright after he heals and it takes him to 10%....then kill him!

How to solo Zalazane without any problems:
Do the "Minshina's Skull" quest and get the reward. With the reward you can steal over 100 life from your target.
Go back to Zalazane, do a little damage, use that sticky web stuff, make distance and then use the skull reward. Easy.. Lost 2% life with my lvl 7 Priest.

ye. this is so damn easy....
This is how to do it:
1: Complete Minshinas�s skull quest and get reward. mayb u want to use but DONT! save it!

2: Complete A solvent spirit and save reward. but u only gonna use 1 or 2, max 3! or u suck.... if u are melee u dont need reward only if u are dying

3: find you way to Zalazane. start by get to the place u got the skull for Minshinas�s skull quest. wait there till Zalazane see u and start running after u. dont stay on the skulls. but a little back so u dont pull extra mobs. when he is close to u, but not close enough to attack u, use the sticky glue thing u got from A solvent spirit. but agian if u are melee u dont need to do it only if u are dying

4: Now u think u must use the skull as a start, but.... HELL NOOO!
dps him to around 75-90hp, to give u almost 100% chance to win, as i observed he wont heal til 40-50hp. use the skull at 75-90hp it will heal u and take hp from him. if he dont die use the silence spells u got cause he will begin to heal or run. i dont know cause he allways die. but if he heals u got much smaller chance to win. any way u should have done it now.

I hope it helped. i havent added alot of coments but i just did Zalazane this way for 10min ago.

I just did Zalazane a few minutes ago.. I am a Level 9 Troll Rogue. So, first I did the Minshina quest. First you go back and turn Minshina quest in and you get a skull that knocks down your targets health. I then went back, and started in on Zalazane. I first used my weapon, and dynamite and bombs. (love being an engineer!) Then when I saw his health getting low used the skull! He didn't even have time to heal himself! It was so easy!
I had a bunch of health potions on me for the rest of the Trolls you have to kill, so I only died once. :) Easy!

I also advise Picking up Practical Prey and Break A few Eggs, and Minshina's Skull before doing this quests as they are all on Echo Isle. Minshina's Skull is actually in the summoning circle that Zalazane walks around.

If you are a mage, go to orgrimmar and get the 'speak with un'thuwa' quest from the mage trainer which leads to 'ju-ju heaps' quest which is at the same place as zalazane.

Zalazane has a couple of helpers in the camp who will continue to heal him faster than you can kill him (unless you're a much-higher level), so be sure to kill them first.

An easy, but slightly more time consuming, way of killing Zalazane is to complete Mishina's Skull first to get the Faintly Glowing Skull. You can safely loot it while Zalazane patrols down in the camp if you approach via the rear of the hill (as mentioned in other comments). Using this on him almost one-shotted him. Perhaps I got very lucky, but it will most certainly help.
