I believe it will trigger an event in Sunwell Plateau just like Corrupted Ashbringer did in Scarlet Monastery. Now, let's hope it is permanent and not only during this quest for i'd very much like to visit it once in a while im sure.

Actually, not getting the NPC's blessing WILL prevent you from wielding this weapon as he will not allow you to enter the Sunwell to purify the sword. Odds are the weapon cannot be purified within the normal Sunwell and he actually ports you to a secondary "instance".

Quel'delar isn't a tanking sword. It looks to be all dps in different flavors.

I've seen a version of it with tanking stats on it. It was 2.0 speed but had parry def and sumthin else tanks like so meh.

To actually COMPLETE this quest and get the blessing, kill the lvl 80 elite mob near Thalorien. He's on horseback. Do that, then run back.

Just finished this.
The fight is 3 waves of non-elite adds, then the elite with 65k hp. Elite does not aggro on his own so you can heal/buff up for the final fight. It all was very easy for a holy priest (holy nova the adds), then just heal and dps down the elite and/or heal Thalorien.

You DO NOT have to enter into Sunwell Plateau (Raid Dungeon). The Dead Scar zone is in the south of Isle of Quel'Danas, and Thalorien Dawnseeker's Remains are in at the cord 53,80.

Hope this helps, took me a while to find out its just on the isle outside SwP and not inside :)

Just did this fight, the elite attacked immediately, however as a resto/boomkin in boom spec which is not my norm I still managed to pull it off very easily alone.

Upon handing this quest in, there's a syntax error in Halduron Brightwing's speech:

"...but I remind you that you are a guest in the most our most sacred of precincts...".

As a hunter the non-elites were very easy, mostly Md on pet and aoed with explo trap + volley.

Then the elite came, I waited for like 20 secs, put Misdirection on my pet, shot the elite guy and... he disappeared.
Then Thalorien Dawnseeker did his speech and gave me the blessing. Quest completed.

So I don't know if it's a repeatable bug, but if it is then it might help hunters out soloing this quest.

This quest gets bugged. You do everything right and she says you have her blessing but you do NOT. Simply abandon the quest and start over and it will work. LOL

I had problems completing this quest, I couldn't obtain the blessing you are supposed to get. At the end, after 4 tries, I got it: Any buff or heal I gave him, made me unable to get the blessing. I removed all buffs and didn't even heal myself, then I got the blessing. It is a very easy quest, killing the three waves and the horse rider.

If you got any problems, try not heal him, buff him or what else you might think of.

To clarify, this is NOT the "Pestilent Scar" in Eastern Plaguelands... I spent 30 minutes cussing when I got to the Isle because I couldn't get off it and my hearth was on CD.. then I spent like 20 minutes getting my butt to Eastern Plaguelands only to find out the dead scar was really an area back at the isle.. :P

He fell in what is now the Dead Scar, buying time for his men to make their own preparations. You will find his remains near the southern end of the Dead Scar on this isle. Visit them, and if his spirit gives you its blessing, I will allow you to enter the Sunwell.]
