This is the quest you are sent on once acquiring Onyxia's Head (at level 80).
Keep in mind, that unlike the level 60 quest, which took you to King Varian Wrynn, and then Major Mattingly, this quest directs you to Zardeth of the Black Claw in the basement of The Slaughtered Lamb in Stormwind.
Completion of this quest differs from the level 60 hand in, as it does not give a city wide buff, or result in a city wide yell announcing your name and Onyxia's defeat.

only that it has 36 spirit, which are wasted for Paladins/Shamans... like always, the non-spirit classes get a huge middlefinger as quest reward

This quest counts towards both Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms and 3000 Quests Completed.

The ring actually isn't horrible for resto shammies. I got it for my shammy after winning the head. Yes, it lacks Mp5, but when I put it on the Spirit made up for the 21 Mp5 I lost off my other ring. The crit and spell power are nice, though the 10 fire resist is kinda random and not really enough to be useful.

I mean, there are better ones for resto shammies of course, but with how hard it is to get some of those better ones, it's a higher chance to get this and it is an upgrade off some of the ones a lot of people would have.

lol i actualy won this today and a dude in the raid whisped me and wanted it for 2k..........i was 2k richer today lol

We discussed this new quest in guild chat and we have come up with a theory. Remember the undead model of Onyxia that was found in the Cataclysm screenshots? We're thinking this is probably how she got resurrected. Turning the quest into a warlock that infuses her with fel energies and brings her back. If you look at the undead model of her, you can even see giant stitches on her neck.

The quest text is quite revealing.

You have accomplished the truly impossible.

According to lore, Varian Wrynn killed Onyxia pretty much as soon as he returned. Thus lorewise it's impossible for anyone to have killed Onyxia, let alone removed her head and dragged it to Stormwind.

So with this quest Blizzard are acknowledging that Onyxia's only back for a bit of nostalgia and loot, rather than for a reason pertaining to the lore.
