Fangore is not especially hard with a pal or two. You don't _need_ a full party however it makes it much easier. The biggest concern you'll have is moving through that region and handling the many wandering mobs that will join in.

the best policy for this is Kill All Surrounding Mobs...yes its dooable if you just pull from a distance...let them come to you...Kill them and then hit Fangore...He will have 2 escort guys with him...but if you play your cards right you can even pull them off of him when he walks away from them. GL.. Oh Fangore is up the road to the North fork off to the right and head back to the Knowls in the area... He's on the left side of the road in between the trees...Watch out for wanderers...

As a hunter, I soloed this as 22. As shaman, I wasn't even close at first at lvl 29. Go figure. Managed to pull it off after a while though, went all-out on Fangore, looted him and ran. Got away with < 100 HP left.

Who said shamans are overpowered? No armor, no dps, no crowd control... -.-

Don't bother trying to solo this quest as a Warlock unless you vastly outlevel it. The mobs that hang out with them have very high Shadow resist and he's Shadow immune himself. Save yourself the frustration.

not impossible as a warlock, and btw NOT immune to fire spells, just shadow
solod as 28 warlock (specced in demonology dont think you need to be though)
what i did was send void in to get aggro on all 3, i killed the adds first starting with the less shadow immune one, then i killed the shadowweaver (feared it around a bit, shadow immunity wasnt that bad, make sure you clear area first, if you get at them from behind you dont have to worry about the bigger camps)
after that toss an immolate on fangore and maybe a life funnel on your void, then you can spam searing pain and he'll go down fast, aggro wont matter too much because your void has been building aggro the whole time you killed the 2 adds

just done this quest with a lvl25 warlock.. so its not imposable.. i died twice trying to dot it all you have to do is use fire spells and there you go.... make sure you use the voidwalker though to take all the damage .. it will die so be aware

Just did it with a 27 warlock: I cleared the immediate area first and got behind them (with my back to the mountains).

I then sent my Voidwalker in, focussing entirely on Fangorn. Started out with an Immulate, and started spamming Searing Pain (used a single lesser healthstone a bit before he died).

He went down relatively fast, and I ran away until the two adds gave up. Then I simply went back and looted the corpse. Pretty simple with that approach. You could even pop a health potion if you need to.

Before I read the comments above, I tried all my shadow-stuff and died myself pretty quickly. So thanks guys - much appreciated :)

Easily soloed as 25 prot pally. Killed off a couple adds, got Fangore along with two buddies on me.
Concecrate, killed off one of his buddies, concecrate, , bubble, heal to 100%, concecrate, killed him, healed, killed last buddy.

Im a full shadow priest (lvl 27) and its totaly *!@#ed me off when i saw that he was imune to shadow spells! Then i had to use holy spells, that pretty sucks but i got throught it... Kinda

Just to annoy the living hell out of all the casters that struggle with him:

He's quite simple as a rogue, even at lower levels. I did it myself today at level 23.

Clear some of the area around Fangore and his pack.
Distract the adds and Fangore so that you're looking at a pack of 2 adds + Fangore.
Sap one add.
Pick their pockets while waiting for energy.
Open with Garrote on Fangore then SnD and SS or whatever fashion you preffer killing mobs in.
Drag Fangore and the remaining add a bit back while attacking.
Vanish after killing Fangore.
Loot and dance.

I used Instant Poison on my main hand weapon and Crippling Poison on my off hand weapon.

No need to download any addons or use any third party softwares to see your coordinates. Everything can be done with WoW's own tools.

1. Make a macro. Type /macro to open up the window, Click New, type something to name it, select random image as icon, click Okay.

2. Paste following into macro commands window:

/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(format(" %i , %i",GetZoneText(),px*100,py*100));

3. Drag newly created macro to your action bars and click it. It output your location to chat window as following:

xx, yy

where Zone stands for your current zone, duh, and xx for X-coordinates and yy for Y-coordinates. Quite simple. Coordinates start from left upper corner (0,0) and numbers get higher as you go to lower right corner (100,100).

For example, if you need to go from 20,50 to 30,60 , you can see that you need to go slighly to east and a bit to south. This macro output shows only to you (not your party members or w/e) so feel free to spam it while walking. You are not disturbing anyone.

Apparently this quest is available to horde as well. I have this in my Q-log as an 80 UD rogue, and the only thing I can figure is I picked it up while I was over in that aira farming Rohh the Silent, or leveling herbalism, or in fact, possibly being an asshat and ganking lowbies.

If you are going to do this quest solo, you should first pick off the 3-4 mobs in the vicinity of Fangore (I approached in stealth mode and positioned myself by the hills behind him). That will leave you with Fangore and 3 mobs that are close to him, one of which wanders. Pick off the one wanderer too. You'll then have to kill Fangore along with the two remaining mobs. When Fangore gets close to death he will run off and come back with another mob so make sure you kill him before he does this. My level 28 druid died while doing this but not before I successfully killed and looted him.

Was doin this with me, a 25 druid, and a 24 warrior. Pulling fangore individually dosnt work. We tried to pull him when he was a good distance away from his 2 escorts (a good 15 yards) but they still rushed to defend him. Im not sure if fangore is aggro linked to his escorts, but his 2 escorts are definately linked to him.

So if u wanna solo him your best hope would be to take out his ecorts first.

I had a LVL 23 Warrior and my friend had a LVL 23 Druid. We basically cleaned out the area around LT. Fangore so all that was left was him and 2 guards. I went straight for Fangore as the Druid tangled him up . The druid healed me once but I also have engineering so threw out a dummy which took the aggro off of us for about 30 seconds which was all we needed. We wiped up Fangore , got his claw and then finished his other 2 guards off. We then ran back to lakeshire after we rested. So basically, your best bet is to clear out the area around him if you tackle this in early levels.

Confirming it's around 79,39. I just want to add that Fangore is NOT in the Gnoll camps north of the village, it's in the east where all 24-26 gnolls are =)

Soloed this quest as a 25 mage. Sheeped the caster, killed the warrior add, and threw everything at Fangore. I dont know why some of you seem to need groups of three to do this.

1) He is around 79, 39
2) To kill, first kill everything around the vicinity if you can't stealth - you will aggro all of them. If you can, walk right to him and attack.
3) He is immune to curses...and shadow spells - warlocks will suck at killing him but doable. Every single fire spell you have + void + sac and loot and run.

I soloed him at lvl 33 but sacced my void too late so I got plastered by the mobs after looting, but hell, SS res ;)

soloed at 18 as a paladin! give me a break, ur a huge aggro magnet and as a paladin u cant even pull right. soloed it at lvl 23 with my NE rogue. cleaned the area near him, distract, sap warrior, kill caster, vanish, bandage, go in again and kill fangore, loot, gouge warrior, sprint, bye. got some pots on me though :)

Good Lord! I have no idea how anyone below level 27 is doing this solo! I'm a level 26 priest (maybe that's why... a man of cloth armor) with the best armor, mace, and wand I can buy at my level. I did what everyone said... eliminated everyone around the lieutenant and his two cronies. When I went up against them, they handed me my ass on a silver platter in about 10 seconds! No contest! I tried everything I could to draw-off one of his soldiers multiple times, but they would have none of it. The second I would level an attack, all three would come charging. If you're a level 27 priest or lower, do _not_ try this solo, unless you don't mind dying and taking that long trek back to your body only to die again! Take at least one friend along--two, if possible, depending who you bring and the level they're at. This was a
Disappointment with a capital D!

Druids:
Take out every mob in Fangore's vicinity, but don't touch the two guards closest to him not matter how far they are from him. They are all aggro linked, and will swarm you instantly. Target Fangorn, regrowth, starfire, moonfire, rake, claw, claw, rip, loot, die! :)

Even though he's immune to shadow damage I was still able to solo this as a warlock lvl 27.

Just make sure you clear out everyone around him and then start by casting immolate on Fangore and pull them over to the corner towards about 81, 36. Make sure that you have your void set to passive so he doesn't go after the spell caster. Once you pull them to the corner send the voidwalker to Fangore and have him cast suffering to pull the melle add guy too. Cast fear on the caster and then just start casting searing pain and you'll have to cast immolate once more on him and you'll be done and you can pick up the paw and get out of there. I was able to run far enough away where I didn't die.

How I solo'd this with a lvl 28 Shadow Priest (with lvl 26 spells).

Firstly, find Fangore at the locs mentioned above. Clear all the mobs near him. Ignore the mobs in groups, they don't matter. Get yourself behind him (hugging the mountain, looking over the valley). Make sure its clear, and that you've killed the one guard that moves away. This should leave Fangore and 2 guards. Stand as close to the mountain as possible.

Fangore is immune to shadow damage as has been stated before. This means you can use Holy Fire (as an opener) then spam Smite. Run up to his caster guard and fear. Make sure you bubble and fear every time they are up. Heal as needed when you bubble/fear. As long as you cleared properly and stay hugging the mountain, you wont get adds from the fears. Focus fire on Fangore and once he is down, loot him and run. I doubt you'll have enough health to kill the 2 guards as well.

I picked off ALL of the mobs around him i never done this quest b4 so i thot i could pick off his body guards well it didnt work.....but my pet tanked em all and i just kept mended him till they were all dead =D

I did this very noobish at first attempt <<,)

Im old shadow priest twink, and I knew he was immune, so I opened my spellbook and used holyfire and spam smite.. But ofc I ninja pulled 300 mobs on my fear (wooho) and died with him at 300 hp. Also I just realised that using my wand would be much better , since It cant have spell hitbacks... I liove that it is shadow dmg wand tho >.<

For warlocks: I just killed Lt. Fangore solo at level 27. Clear the mobs around him until you've only got Lt. and his two cronies (which you can't kill separately). Summon your VW and be sure to have a soulstone up. Now just send your VW in to attack Lt., and hit him with immolate, then spam searing pain until your VW is at about 100 hp, then sacrifice him and continue to spam searing pain on Lt. At this point he and his cronies should run away from their spawn point to you and try to hit you, you should have time to kill Lt and as your sacrifice runs out, just allow the other 2 to kill you, wait for them to leave, use your soulstone, loot the body and get out of there!

Not much postings for us old warriors out there!

Warriors are hard to play at the low lvls. This quest can be soloed at lvl 31!. We get much better after 40.

1) Fangor is linked to a warrior and a shaman. Before you approach them clear all the naboobs around them individ.
2) Don't try tank - failed. Pull the warrior with a bow/riffle, Fangor will run to u also with him. Rage, and try kill the weaker warrior, in the meantime Fangor and the Shaman will be beating the %$^& out of u. Once this guy is dead, run off, heal, run back and pull Fangor. The same with Fangor, ignore the Shaman. Run off, heal.
3) Run back and collect the rewards!

I took him out alone with a lvl 26 mage by clearing out the surrounding creatures and then polymorphing the magical furry creature. Fangore and an assistant where pulled to me and met their fates.

Did this as a lvl 26 mage. Approached from SE mountain ridge. FIrst took out some bystanders. THen focused on the caster. When Fangore and his warrior got near, Frost Nova and finish the Darkweaver. Run, refilled mana and health, return. Then Fireball on Fangore, Mana Shield and Arcane explosion until he died.

Looted his paw but then the remaining guard killed me :(.

Easy... Did it as 23 nelf rogue, basically clear area around him then once he is as far away from his 2 guards i garroted, ssed, popped on evasion and once you have killed him just evasion and run! :]

Quest was fairly simply. just clear a path way by killing the surrounding mobs. focus on Fangore, loot him, bubble and run back through the path way you cleared. 24 paladin.

I did this quest with my lvl 22 demonlogy warlock. Send voidwalker into the camp to attack the gnoll on Fangore's left
and when he had their attention i went to work on Fangore. It took me between 4-6 rank 4 shadow bolts. My voidwalker died and so did i after killing Fangore but i had a soulstone on me
so i just jumped up and ran. It's pretty easy.

Solo'd this as a 24 mage. Very doable, just focus fire on him, loot and run away. Even if you die after you loot, you still complete the quest.

Fangore is indeed imunne to shadow magic ... and although imunne to shadow i killed him alone with my void ... pretty easy actually. I died after killing and looting him couse 4-5 gnolls attacked me and dazed me :P The strategy is very simple: Attack fangore with void, w8 for the void to taunt Fangore, immolate Fangore and after that only Searing pain ... when your void is at 1/8 of his total HP sacrifice him! After that the gnolls will attack you but you'll absorb all the damage and kill + loot Fangore. After that you'll die but no matter that - use soulstone and ressurrect, summon your pet and you are good to go :)

P.S. My lock was lvl 26 when I killed him :D

This quest should be labeled "group." There's no way to pull the mobs separately without a group, and Fangore will find at least three friends to share in the assault on you.

At level 32, I should really have no trouble soloing a level 26 quest. And yet I have failed this one five or six times.

it was easy as a 33 druid... all i did was focus on him... heal... loot... then run... make sure to clear the area if you try it solo cause not only will him and his body guards attack you but also anything else that is near by!

I managed to solo Lt Fangore at level 25, died just as I looted his paw. This was on my third try as I managed to find him with only one add. I sicced my VW on him and spammed searing pain till he ran and chased after him till he dropped. I just ignored the adds I had picked up and looted him. No point in attempting to run at this point with all the mobs around I just wanted the paw. Crappy reward but good exp ended up with 2950 exp. My suggestion on solo is just concentrate on killing Fangore and forget the other mobs you'll just waste mana and die anyway. Oh and if Warlock do not cast fear the 'feared' guy will just pull in more mobs and you will die quicker and miss out on killing Fangore. Good luck.

really easy if your a rogue...solo'd at lvl 29 dwarf rogue...i would kill one of his guards then vanish and heal....then picked off other guard and vanished and healed...then piked off fangore easily....took about 15 minutes cause of cool down time...

Did this at level 30 but I'm sure level 26 would have been about the same. Clear the road. Clear the side groups around Fangores group first. Poly one kill one or two then bandage and kill the poly. When you get to Fangore's group poly one then pour it to fangore. When they cluster around you Frost nova, blink, finish Fangor if he isn't already dead. Evocation to regain mana. Then blizzard as they come to you. Depending on how many are left you may need a healing pot so consider bringing one for insurance. Then AOE them down.

Ended up killing Fangore plus 4 because I had a bad pull but if I'd been a shade more careful could have it been just him and one with the other polymorphed.

Solo'd as a level 30 rogue. Followed coordinates/directions below to find him, removed the solo mobs nearby for security. Attacked Fangore, used one Greater Healing potion to stay alive, killed him, and vanished. The other two ran off, I looted, back to town.

Heh, you guys are overeacting. This quest is extremely simple... if you're a Hunter.

At level 25, I came to the fields looking for Fangore. I spotted him, and began to pick off mobs in the surrounding area, as much as I could untill he was aggroed. The moment he was aggroed, of course, my pet absorbed this aggro. I threw everything I had at him, and he was down quick. Right now, me and my pet were being mauled to the max, but I ran in, got the paw, and ran out. My pet died, but I made it out in one piece. ;)

I think you are talking about Yowler, not Fangore. Fangore can be found to the FAR east around 79,39. For those who don't have coords, it's to the east in the middle. A bit south and a bit east of the cave.

He's guarded by 2-3 guards and the agro range is huge but it's doable solo, pretty easily if you're mage. But those who want a challenge and chosed another class, get someone to do it with and it'll go faster and smoother =)

k found him at 81 40. Soloed as lvl 31 hunter. My pet died but after i killed him and looted got aggroed by at least 12 gnolls..so I feigned death. Cooooooooooool ploy..they went away.. i melded ..then hearthed... took me 20 minutes...

The lieutenant can be found by leaving town to the north and bearing right when you can (you will start back downhill and pass an empty mill). Bear left along the cliffbase until you start seeing gnolls. Fangore spawns just past the middle of the clearing (you can see a little valley off to the left leading to a cave... just past there). It seemed easiest to just cut thru the middle along the path... only had more than 1 add once (watch out for a group of 3 wanderers). Try to make your way back to the left cliff face where there are some safe spots. As a level 25 I could pick off 3 or 4 of the outer gnolls but could never pull Fangore without fewer than 3 of his buddies. I died maybe once figuring my way around and another 3 times getting swamped. The last time Fangore went down before I did and since our corpses were in a safe spot I had no trouble looting the paw after I got my body back. In retrospect I should have planned on dying from the start and led off with my pet attack rather than trying to get single pulls with my bow and getting the agro on me right away. 2250 exp iirc.

I'm on my 26 pale, right? And I run up the hill to the blackrock castle, and agro everything, killed like everyone in the courtyard, then ran into the place were the wanted orc was. Killed everything in there except the shadowcaster and the wanted orc guy. Bandage up. Jumped off the hill with a bubble and landed right in the middle. Gift of w/e ran in and wailed on him until we were both dead. It was epic.

For those who don't have coordinates (like me) Lt. Fangore is past the keep where the orcs are. This is also where you pick up the shadowhide pendants so you can do both quests at the same time. Did this as a hunter lvl 33 with pet, as clean up for a lvl 18 and a lvl 22. The shadowhides are in groups of three to four and are a pain in the butt if you are lower lvl so it's a good idea to stay clear if you can, run up the middle, you'll only encounter a couple that are by themselves. Fangore is with two brutes and a mystic so be ready for a fight.

This was a painfull quest for my 27 hunter. Died 3 times, though 2 of those times were lessons in bad CC. First death was due to pulling fangorn and not being able to manage the spawn (some of the guys social from a longer distance then you'd expect). I nearly died the second time due to a stealthing gnoll called an "assassin", those things suck. Second death was really because i pulled the wrong char from with my actual hunter and got socialed by the entire group.

Third death i'd gotten annoyed and decided "i'll just kill enough of the guards to tank the span and get the loot". Which worked ok. I probably could have lasted, but those assassins are a real pain in the rear. I'd gotten the group down to 3 (including fangorn) and was doing ok. 2 assassins came out of nowhere and started smacking me up (all agro was on the pet until then). Fangorn died, i got the loot, pet died shortly after, and i managed to run far enough away to get a decent res position. Was a frustrating quest.

If you go for this quest, make sure you also go for "Solomons's law" quest. its an easy quest and hits the same mobs!. Given by the Marshal marris dude, next to the guy who give this quest.

Forget about doing this quest solo if you are a warlock. He is still immune to all shadow damage and has two linked mobs.

Best thing is to find a non-lock who is doing this quest too and team up with him.

Myself (22 Mage), my Paladin (23) compatriot and a level 12 Mage with a Level 26 Paladin compelted it about 10 minutes. We were actually trying to finish "Solomon's Law" and happened across him.

I soloed this as a level 25 warrior (recommended level is 26) and 2 additional adds were mistakingly pulled, which I proceeded to own as well, 5 enemies downed, including Fangore. Warriors listen up, this is how it goes. Kill *all* surrounding adds > charge Fangore > cast Retaliation > cast Demoralizing Shout > build up 25 rage points then cast Intimidating Shout > kill Fangore (use Execution if necessary) > kill remaining enemies. Hope that helps.

I'm night elf, so I took out one mob, shadowmelded, waited for that CD to finish, killed another, waited, then went in, blew away at Fangore with all my non-shadow spells, then nuked the caster that was blasting at me, and still had a little mana to spare.

Piece of Cake unless you and your group are on crack. We were trying to finish Solomans law (most annoying quest in game) and we stumbled on him. Took him out easy, 22 hunter, 22 hunter, 19 hunter, 22 priest. Only annoying thing was he respawned behind us later while we were killing the camp of gnolls near him to try to finish solomans law and he kinda kicked our ass then lol we slaughtered the camp but he and his adds were to much coming from behind when we were already at low health.

By the way he's in the most southeast corner, follow the mountains southeast from the cave, he respwans right next to a tree down there.

Wow - just took a shot at this guy as 27 Priest (shadow mostly). Discovered he's immune to all shadow magic incl. my shoot (wand)... WTH? Thanks for making this quest easy for priests... want me to heal him to death Blizz?

Obviously I died pretty quick when he's immune to almost all my spells. This is fantastic ><

Just did this on my level 28 warlock. Was pretty tough.

Firstly he seems to aggro everything nearby when you attack him, so try to clear everything else first.

Secondly he is Immune to most warlock spells. I basically had to use immolate and spam searing pain, I couldn't even use my wand as it does shadow damage.

Yeah, easiest way for a solo 25 warrior was to run in, kill Fangore, loot, and then die.
