After Grand Magus Telestra, take a right and go down the ramp. The book is protected by a bunch of frozen Alliance NPCs which unfreeze when you get near them.

For what it's worth, there is a Horde version and an Alliance version of this quest (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=13094). The only difference is that the questgiver blames the opposite faction.

After entering the instance, take a left or two, there are a bunch of frozen mobs, and a book layin there bout 1/2 way through the room. VERY easy quest for some pretty decent shoulders. (being a warrior i chose the tundra pauldrons, and they are the best ive seen so far)

Before they allow you to get this quest you must finish all the quests in Amber Ledge up to where you fly there.

Just soloed this as a 68 shaman. I wanted to pick up a few goodies before starting on Northrend and knew from my main where the book was. All you need is one invis potion and the ability to self-rez.

The mobs that pat inside can be dodged until you get to the tunnel leading to the frozen figures. There is a pat with a caster and two dogs. Wait for them to pat right down to the bottom and heroically die there. They have a long pat back up the tunnel. When they go, rez and heal. Take the invis and run to the book which is visible under invis.

The cast time to pick the book up is just short enough to survive being hacked by several elites who aggro when you come out of invis. Turn in and enjoy.

Warning for all you UNHOLY DK'S:

The Shadow of Death talent, when it proc's (which is done automatically) will rule out the chance to use a soulstone. I found out the hard way. (2th March 2009)

Note that Shadow of death will be removed from the game in an upcoming patch though.

As of latest patch rogues cannot solo using stealth, everything in there can see through it

Soloed as a 71 mage without a soul stone.
when I got to the hallway leading to the book I waited for the patrol to reach the top of the hall then I used frost nova on them, I then blinked and hit invisibility, ran to the book and looted it.

Solo'd as a level 79 prot pally, still have mainly 70epic gear. Just tanked mobs up to the quest item and looted. No long cd's needed (no loh) hell i didnt even bubble. I just Seal of lighted when i had to tank up to 3 mobs and killed the healers first.

I finally managed to do it as a sub rogue after many attempts. It turned out it was very very easy to avoid the patrolling dogs only I didn't know how from the beginning.
Use sprint/evasion then Shadow Step/Sap on the mage and you'll be out of combat in 3-4 seconds (because you'll also have rocket speed). Stealth and take the book next, piece of cake.

Other Rogues make this out to be harder then it really is. All you need is:
1. To know where the book is at.
2. Have Sprint off CD.
3. Have Cloak of Shadows off CD.
4. Have Vanish off CD.

Wait till the Magus (with Stealth Detection) in the beggining paths to as far away as possible from the entrance, then hit Sprint and Cloak of Shadows. Sprint all the way down to the hallway where the book is located (passed the patrol with the dogs) and hit Vanish when you get to the hallway, go to the book and loot it.
The mobs located close will get out of their frost tombs and attack you, you cant avoid getting killed here, just make sure you get the book. Then just run and rezz and all done.
I was lvl 71, but I reckon you can do it at lower lvl aswell.

It took me a couple of tries, but I solo'd it as a frost level 71 Tauren DK. It's most definitely difficult, but with some luck, you can nail it. What I did:

The first patrols with the dragonkin were not a problem. Then I waited for the woman and her dogs to show up at the top of the ramp and I ran towards them. Just before they could attack, I cast Hungering Cold, which froze them solid for ten seconds. While I was running down the ramp, I cast Raise Dead, so my Ghoul could aggro some mobs and lead them away from me. I also cast Unbreakable armor, helping me survive much longer. When I was in the middle, where the book was lying on the ground, I War Stomped everyone around me, stunning them long enough for me to loot the book. I even had around 5K health left afterwards. Of course they still beat me to death within a second or two, but hey, at least I got the shoulders.

This actually is soloable by hunters. I just did it at 69.

It requires creative use of a) feign death, b) deterrence, c) disengage, d) call pet.

This is how I did it on my 70 Hunter:

Entered and went to the first dragon frozen in ice, waited for the pat to move out of aggro range and went to the passage on the left, from there I went straight ahead, following the human and her two hounds, just staying far enough behind so I didn't aggro.

As she started to turn around, I used feign death at the doorway leading into the Hall of Stasis. When she went back up the passage far enough to avoid aggro, I deactivated FD then waited for the CD to reset.

Then I threw on Deterrence and ran for my life to the book, threw on FD at the last second right on top of the book then waited for Deterrence CD to reset. When that was done, I threw Deterrence on to break FD automatically and used CALL PET << VERY IMPORTANT. Looted book and tried to run like hell, died but it was worth it ^^

Got this quest today, " 70 hunter " but i could not turn it in because it won't allow me to choose a reward, so i guess i gotta wait til im 71. will post back when i hit 71 gr8 rewards

Archmage Berinand is the Kirin Tor's foremost authority on Malygos. He's spent his life studying the aspect and his behaviors.

Recently, he loaned me his research on the Arcanomicron, some sort of map that Malygos is trying to assemble. I made the mistake of discussing it with a group of Alliance adventurers while they were restocking their goods here - and now it's gone!

It must have been them, <class>. Please, follow them into the nexus and find the book before Berinand comes to recover it from me.
