altho its not snakes entwined on the temple pillars, its briarthorns just like the ones that are abundant in the barrens, exept that these are back instead of brown :)

Great End to a fantastic storyline. If you noticed though this questline follows Norse Mythology perfect.

Thor,God of Thunder had a wife called Sif and a Hammer named Mjolnir. Thorim also has a wife named Sif and a hammer called Krolmir. Loki,God Of Trickery was Thor's Brother. He was a master of shape-shifting and would Trick many people. Most known among the Norse God's as a liar. Wow Introduces Loken as Thorim's Brother and just as the Myth goes,he disguised himself and you. Some players may then call Loken a Liar,then?

Though I love how Blizz incorperated Norse Myth into this questline. Really nice and greatly done.

I totally agree - this quest line has been designed very carefully and beautifully. I also like the fact that the players' meddling with the lifes of gods does work well. When you mess around with higher powers, your intent doesn't matter much, you will be likely to fail either way.

After the fight Loken mentions he was waiting in that mine for weeks. Now reread The Crone's Bargain.

And as Mumpley wrote earlier:

Loki,God Of Trickery was Thor's Brother. He was a master of shape-shifting and would Trick many people.

I encourage you to find more clues like this :)

Spoiler alert! Spoiler alert!

In the dialogue, Loken mentions having plans for Thorim and special plans for the broodmother, Veranus. Since neither appear in Halls of Lightning, i speculate that they have been taken further into Ulduar, and will be part of the upcoming raid there. Veranus will most likely be a raid-boss. Thorim might be corrupted by Yogg-sharon( Lokens master), just as Yogg-sharon did to Loken, in which you would have to defeat him, or he might be imprisoned, in which you would have to free him.

Loken is truly the master of deception and trickery. What he just did in this Questline is a true work of art.

Please notice that NPC who you need to speak to start event/fight is located on end of the bridge extended from the top of Temple/tower. He is not in centre as logic would suggest.

what are the pre req to get this quest i have done everything that i believe i should do in able to make this quest available ive done equipment recovery and they took are men! and ive done all the quests after that ... i believe the last quest i did was Mending fences and thorim is still where i handed in the quest and cant find him in any other places to get this quest... any help would be greatly appreciated!

It is also convienant for them to have this quest happen near a flight path so you can just use the auto gryphon to get to the next part.

Ok, so as a tank I'm dying to get these gloves. I did a ton of research on quest lines/chains and how to get them. Some of the posts are helpful, but here's the chain of events I've found to truly unlock "The Reckoning" quest.

1) Do the entire chain starting with “They Took Our Men”, https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12843 This chain should end 16 quests later with “Making a Harness” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12900

2) Once you complete “Making a Harness”, it will unlock “The Slithering Darkness” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12989 and “The Last Of Her Kind” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12983. Do “The Slithering Darkness” first because it’s only one quest (it may or may not be necessary to do it, but you might as well do it while you’re here). Once it’s done, start working on “The Last Of Her Kind”, which is a 8 quest chain ending with “Mending Fences” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12915

3) During the quest “Mending Fences” a piece of “Slag Covered Metal” will drop…this begins a new quest chain called “The Refiner’s Fire” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12922 This chain is only 2 quest long, ending with “A Spark Of Hope” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12956

3) Upon turning in “A Spark Of Hope”, you will unlock the chain “Forging An Alliance” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12924 which is 6 quests long. Here’s a catch…In order to do quest #5 of this chain, “Krolmir, Hammer of Storms” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=13010, you must be friendly with “The Sons Of Hodir” and have completed “Jormuttar is Soo Fat…” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=13011 Then you will be able to talk with the king about Krolmir for “Krolmir, Hammer of Storms” and finish the chain with “The Terrace of the Makers” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=13057

4) Completing “The Terrace of the Maker” will unlock “The Earthen Oath” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=13005 and Loken’s Lackeys” https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=13035 Complete both these quests and it will unlock “The Reckoning”

This entire 40-quest chain from start to finish (starting with the one at K3) has netted me just under 500 gold at level 80... and it had amazing quest descriptions and an epic plot twist at the end.

Actually, made almost 600 after selling all the items and drops I got from the massive chain, a nice reward for those who don't need exp or the gear.

Long epic quest chains like these are so much more rewarding on a personal level, than running heroics. I sometimes wish Blizzard would create even longer chains with rewards to rival dungeon runs for those of us that crave storyline over raiding. Oh well I can dream can't I? Awesome chain. Couldn't use any of the rewards, but the story was worth it all. :)

Spoiler Alert!

Loken casts some sort of spell on Thorim, and ends up capturing him and his mount, taunting you, and running off.

You get to kill Loken in the Halls of Lightning, but the fate of Thorim and his mount are not currently explained. Expect to see this loose end tied up in a future expansion, probably in Ulduar.

Once you hand this quest in to King Jokkum back at Dun Niffelem, he will give you the quest "Whatever it Takes!", which as you'd probably expect, takes you into the Halls of Lightning to give Loken a good beating.

so blizzard didnt follow the exact lore, but forging it to fit their needs.

Must be a cool job to have working for Blizzard on something like this. I can imagine them speed dating :

Girl : "So what do you do for a living?"
Blizzard designer : "Oh.. you know - this and that?"

Blizzard designer : /looks sheepish "I forge lore to fit my needs"

Fyi Loken's master happens to be Yogg'saurron (or however it is spelled)
and he is a Old God .

It seems like now Thorim will be a boss in Ulduar under Yogg's control.

I thought I'd mention that Thorim's model was upgraded in 3.1 to match his Ulduar model. Previously he looked more like an armored male frost vrykul (which, seeing as his wife was a female frost vrykul, made sense)

It wasn't to make peace between the viking amazons and the Sons of Hodir.
It was initially to save the goblin's brother, incidentally you end up entering yourself in the Hyldsmeet and so decide to continue competing.
The point of the Hyldsmeet is to gain the favor of Thorim (I might be wrong). So you win and bam, there's Thorim.
Now we move on again to yet another goal, reuniting Thorim with his buddies and his gear.
And you know the rest of the story.

Yep.. Both Hodir and Thorim are Ulduar keepers. as a bonus, right before the Thorim encounter, he will announce "Wait.. you. i remember you, from the Mountians.. I..."

Then Sif interrupts (not the real Sif, a made up version made by Yogg-Saron) and convinces Thorim to fight you.

you do not kill Thorim or any of the other keepers, they simply get to 1 Health and return to their normal forms. its Possible to get buffs from each of the Keepers on the Yogg fight, or none at all.

Very impressed with the way the storyline played out. Really makes one feel "used" by Loken. I thought that Lok'lira (Loken in disguise) would be gone from Brunnhilda Village but she/he is still there.

A great ending for an epic quest chain. However, it did feel a bit like a déjà vu. Remember the chain at Coldarra? You free Keristrasza, she confronts Malygos, who captures her and you'll have to fight her in The Nexus. Sure, the details are very different and I like the Norse mythology in this one, but still...

I always do this quest on my toons right when i hit level 77. This quest rewards me about 400G and I end with about a level of Exp. With these you also get great lore, and awesome loots. All my toons have https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/achievement=38 now because of it.

Thought it was really cool when the placeholder model for Thorim was used.
It still is, although using the proper Thorim model makes it look like Loken is pointing at Thorim's boots as they continously stare at eachothers crotches, as shown in one of the screenshots here :P

What a way to insert some Norse mythology into WoW's Titanic Lore, eh? i really loved this quest chain. And specially when almost everything inside Storm Peaks is related to it, I.e: in the Halls of Stome when you do the Tribunal of Ages event, there they introduce Loken and from that you can guess how Yogg'Saron enters in the story and most important: How the hell the curse of flesh is implemented into the poor earthen, my guess if that yogg'saron did it, then when the titans set up new defences and liberated the dwarves Yogg' took advantage and put Aesir and Vanir onto war between each other with the help of loken (probably what the big faces of the tribunal of ages are referring to) and then finish them, and then killed Sif to get Thorim out if the way, and with the protectors away and the master of the remaining eathen in Ulduar under his controll Yogg' could live unoticed in a big fancy stoneyice made home with a masive army of iron made dwarven, so he actually too controll of the defences the titans set upon Azeroth, and in my guesses his also responsible for the corruption of most aspect and the liberation of Deathwing, i might be rong but it makes sense that with his protectors out of the way Deathwing could slip out of his misery and bring a little of chaos to azerth, thats my opinion, if you get any other guesses or find out im wrong then plz reply i encourage you :).

I loved this questchain, really. At first, with going after the goblin, I was like "eh, whatever", but as I continued I got more and more into the questline... and now I'm sitting here feeling sorry for Thorim and telling myself how stupid I've been. x"D Great job on the lore here, as (almost x3) always. There should be way more of these kind of questchains. v_v

This was one of the most enjoyable questlines in the game i believe as it dipped into norse mythology and had a killer plot. Plus at 80 it got me about 800g from start to finish.
