Its not immediately obvious whats going on here. The earthen that help you form a squad that you can command. They can earth shield themsleves, nuke mobs, root and shoot fireballs. Their commands appear on a pet bar and anything you tell them to do, the entire squad does. Best pet ever.

The best place I found to kill the Iron Sentinels was at 48,43 on a bridge near Halefnir the Windborn. There are two of them up there, each fighting 3 Earthen Elite. Because they're fighting you can stand in the middle with no worry of aggro and use your horn and kill one then turn around and kill the other then turn around and kill the re-spawn, rinse and repeat. I was usually able to kill two of them before my pets de-spawned and I had to use the horn again.

If you don't see the pet bar, do /console reloadui and it should appear.

The Iron Dwarf Magus also count towards the Iron Dwarf Assailant count, so dont worry about killing just the Assailants, kill any of them and you'll get credit.

Interestingly enough, this quest lets you know *sort of* what it's like to 5 box with shammies. :-)

You can't give them any commands other than their four attacks, which is kind of annoying. They stand in a circle around you and pull aggro. They also don't have any sort of autoattack, so they're really stupid. You have to micromanage them entirely.

I'm pretty sure blizzard did this to let us hate multiboxers a little less. I must say, this was a really fun quest :D

Also if you cannot see the pet bar and can't reload:

CTR+1 = Lava Burst
CTR+2 = Earth's Grasp
CTR+3 = Earth Shield
CTR+4 = Earth Shock

The most clumsy quest for any class which uses a pet, which includes Hunter, Death Knight (with Master of Ghouls talent) and Warlock. Lousy controls for a pet and the fact that it retires your pet it consumes the reagent for the ghoul, haven't confirmed on my Lock yet.

This "army" is some dumb sometimes. When they fighted and i was low on hp i tryed to stay away and let them fight then they just died, all of them at once and the big giant come killed me... But very fun! =D

Btw, i found the solution. They only live for 1 min and 10 secs so u should use the horn again after the 1 min CD is done

The bridge at 47.6,44.0 is a great place to kill Iron Sentinels. After you kill one on one side of the bridge, the Sentinel on the other side will have already spawned.

hated this quest... you summon your Earthen but what use are they. The heal heals them not you and when you start firing you get agro, they can die quick and then your left fighting a 50k elite all on your tot. :( took a few deaths to get this one licked. :(

Iron Sentinel slain (7): The Earthen Oath quest actually provide you an easy way to kill all seven Iron Sentinels, of which are five standing on the balcony in a line with no other activity but stare and especially with none of Iron Dwarf sentinels present at all, and yet more interesting: No AGGRO AT ALL! They don't notice what happens to their neighbour, they just stand there.(respawn leisurely) You can find them at an entrance on a balcony with coordinates . It's on the east side of Terrace of the Makers large building with text "TERRACE" in the map. Once you summon your Horn of the Peaks minions and start shooting lava bolts salvos, Iron Sentinel doesn’t care of you at all, but the shooting minions. You can also use The Army of the Dead if you have it.(10 min. cooldown though – one way to get old) Btw. Eisenfaust from Lokens’Lackeys is inside the entrance in a room. Pretty similar tactics apply also to him.

Iron Dwarf Assailant slain (20) It's better to save the killing of these as the last in the quests The Earthen Oath and ALSO Lokens Lackeys. An easy choice is to spam these mobs down respectively where Duronn of Loken’s Lackeys is. Duronn stand on a long terrace right in front of the stairs which lead up to Halefhir. These stairs lead to letter "M" in the word "Makers" in the map. Here Iron Sentinels stand so far apart from Iron Dwarfs that you can concentrate in killing dwarfs one by one with lava-bolts without fear of aggro.

In compare to actual warlock minion Imp with ranged weapon firebolt, the minions of Horn of The Peaks are very different, though the basic controls seem similar. The latter ones have no spiritual life except form a line, follow you tight, and shoot only on your command. However they keep their last target pointed by you, even if you run around – and they shoot even if you run and press fire icon at the same time. NOT available for actual warlocks! Even though the mobs in these two quests also seem to be unusually blind to you as minion fire commander, your minions don’t defend you automatically any way like all real warlock minions do. See, pro’s and cons. (another main Schwesterein, lvl 70 udead demonology warlock, Darkspear)

I have to say this is one of the most annoying quests I've done in WoW in a long time. The fact the little pack of idiots has no sort of auto attack, and won't do a damned thing is stupid. I'm a shaman, so I tend to try and keep myself healed. But it's difficult to mind healing myself and telling the dwarves to actually do anything. And half the time the goddamn sentinels hit so hard it is somewhat pointless to heal. The assistants aren't to bad, just have to lava burst them to death, yourself and the Earthen. But the sentinels broke my &*!@, ended up with a 32g repair bill. I have all the sentinels dead, but not all the assistants. So I just ended up losing gold on a quest. If the rest of the chain wasn't so good, I wouldn't have bothered.

Anyway, that's all I have to say.

It seems like some people are missing the point of this quest. If you are getting hit, you are doing it wrong!

In a nutshell, everyone is a warlock for this quest. those guys can attack from *really* far away. 30 yards at least. you should never have aggro if you stay far enough away. Make sure to buff the minions with the third spell, that gives them health when hit. then use the second skill to lock the guy down while you tear him up with the fire balls.

another tip is that they ONLY target what YOU target.

use your horn everytime you killed a setinel, otherwise your group will perish during fighting the next one and you end up alone against a lvl 80 elite

I found as a frost mage it was much faster and easier just to kill everything with your pet (with glyph of eternal water).

The elites can be slowed, frost nova'd, and deep freezed, so they are a complete pushover.

Call them with the horn and then use the pet bar. For Sentinels, use Earth Grasp (Ctrl +2) to freeze the enemy. Then simple cast Lava Burst (Ctrl+1) and Earth Shock (Ctrl+4) until enemy is dead.
The iron Dwarfs will come out from some cones that surge from earth, those you just kill as ussual.

fortunately the quest isn't that difficult without them.

the sentinels on the ledges just keep evading, this quest is totally bugged - i did find 2 sentinels standing to the far east in the snow that did not bug tho, just gotta wait on repops with them i guess

West side of the Terrace of the Makers around 58-43 the Sentinels are being attacked by Earthen Warders and Earthen Elites and much easier to take down and still count even with little health left

For years I neglected my duties, giving into defeat and self-pity.

Not the brave earthen, however. Their oath to protect these grounds with their lives has gone unbroken.

Even now, they fight the corruption of iron with selflessness, waiting for the moment in which the tides turn.

That moment has arrived. We must rally what remains of the earthen defenders and lead them into a glorious victory. Sound the Horn of the Peaks to call them to your side and take back the Terrace of the Makers.
