There are too targets to begin with Enormos & Vladof the Butcher

Once you damage them enough Vladof the Butcher will dismount Enormos and one of your party memebers can use Enormos as a "vehicle" to help attack Vladof the Butcher.

The enemies you fight have less than 200k health, and don't hit terribly hard. Was pretty quick with three, and did not require intensive healing.

Did the series at 75. Setup was:
Fury Warrior 75 as tank (me)
Rogue 76
Hunter 77
Death Knight 75
Retribution Paladin 78 as healer.
Very easy. I recommend doing this quest as soon as you reach 75 level.
Got around 150k exp for all quests and almost 120 gold. The reward itself is amazing aswell.

I 2-manned this quest with a level 80 Holy Priest(Xjum) and a Crab Pet as 2/51/13 Marksmanship at level 75.

It's pretty easy. Misdirect the mammoth onto the pet until the butcher comes out. Put on aspect of the viper and jump in the mammoth and have him tank it for as long as he can. Have the priest dps as much as he can and when the mammoth is about to die have him throw up a lightwell because he's going to have all the aggro.

By this time the butcher should be within kill shot range and use kill shot and chimera - serpent as much as possible while jump kiting and disengaging back to the lightwell. Keep deterrence up and when you can feign and misdirect to your pet while keeping mend pet up. Your priest will almost certainly die but you should be able to finish him.

I did the training up of 2H axes and swords early on in Borean Tundra (having used mainly 2H maces until 70) with the following method. I don't think that you can skill up on target dummies, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Buy a high speed white axe - the Dalaran Great Axe is purchasable in Dalaran and has a 1.80 speed, the current fastest 2H axe speed.
Get some haste food - Baked Manta Ray, for +30 haste for 1 hour, is easily made from the fish caught in Borean Tundra, or purchased off the AH.
Drink some juice - Elixir of Lightning Speed for +45 haste for 1 hour.
Haste gear - There is quite a bit of haste gear in Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord. Although this is not totally necessary, it just reduces the time taken to do the skilling up.
Haste enchants - Enchant Cloak - Speed (+15 haste for 6 Inifinte Dust) and Enchant Gloves - Minor Speed (+10 haste for 2 Large Radiant Shards and 2 Wildvine) come to mind, minor mats involved. You can place these on cheap white or grey items and keep as your skill-up set.
Intellect - although I'm not crunching numbers here, I think that haste is going to help you more than intellect in skilling up, with the available buffs for each. But if you can get an AI from someone, or use an Intellect scroll, or wear a set of wacky intellect gear then it might squeeze out a couple minutes of the 1-350 grind.

These same strategies could be used for the various max weapon skill achievements (Did Somebody Order a Knuckle Sandwich? for 400 Unarmed, Master of Arms for 4 weapon skills raised to 400) if you ever get around to it.

If anything, paladins have one of the easiest jobs of AFK skilling up weapons. Just turn on Devotion Aura, turn off any damage increasing blessings, and throw an FoL or an HL on yourself every so often. Then go to town on one of the many mobs with only physical damage and no debuffs (I used a Harvest Collector next to Valiance Keep).

Servants in Blasted Lands got changed in 3.0 and it is no longer possible to increase your weapon skill while attacking them.

Edit: Azaloth a (almost always) banished mob in SMV, linked to the quest A Necessary Distraction, is a very nice place to level weaponskill. It is however preferable to be level 80 as he is surrounded by normal level 70 mobs.

I just found the best way to do this quest after I completed it. Actually, the whole chain was done this way. I had 4 in my group and there was a group of 4 horde. One of them did /point to me and I didn't get it. He then spammed it, so I decided to start the quest. THey all ran down and helped us, then he pointed at himself and his group did the quest. We took turns all the way to the end. It was like going through deadmines at 50...I barely took a hit. Anyway you can 2 man the last guy if you have an 80 tank class with you, I watched that go on a few times before I got 75.

76 retribution paladin healing,
80 unholy deathknight tanking
77 feral druid dpsing (little offhealing)

the first 5 mobs are all not really a challenge, this one was, but it is possible!

In order of the blues here here is who would want what

Icier Barbed Spear- Hunter weapon without a doubt also a good cat feral druid weapon. You will still be using this untill 78 and only if your revered with Kalu'ka will you find anything better. You get Whale-Stick Harpoon

Wodin's Second-Best Shanker Muttilate spec rogues again will be using this till 78 most likely maybe 77 but there are alot of other daggers better.

Screw-Sprung Fixer-Upper what a name anyway wil be used by resto shamans and holy pallies mostly but also good for Ele shamans. Can be used up till 80 as it is really one of the easiest healing weapons to come by out of instances but hey if your a healer your probobly doing alot of those

Chilly Sloberknocker easily one of the best dps caster staffs till 80 for the simple fact of the hit rating. Also come in good for Priest and Druid healers.

De-Raged Waraxe Simply the best Axe untill 80 there is one that is a bit higher in dps but it holds agility. THis axe is definatly the best tanking weapon for a 2 handed dk tank and is amazing dps for any of the other 2 handed classes out there Including being used as a main hand for the Fury Warrior using Titans Grip.

Crimson Cranium Crusher good for fury warriors still interested in 1 handers, Enhance shamans, and Rogues. Slow weapon makes it good for larger strikes and this is keepable untill again around 77.

ALL in all a bunch of wierd names and some good weapons.

As for the fights they are quite simple the first is really just a spank and tank.
The second is also quite easy he hits a bit harder
The third boss does some elemental damage and has changing elements every time 5 groups killed him I saw a fire 2 earths a wind and a water one.
The forth summons a wolf companion but is not overall hard
The fifth is kinda like a mini grull he has growths
The sixth is the hardest. He rides a mamoth. you have to beat it to a certain percent then he dismounts you have to ride the mamoth and tank him on the mamoth.

A group of 5 75s is fine maybe less. I did it with a 80 ret pally and a 80 holy pally on my 75 Dk and all I did was stand there while they killed it. Really all that is needed is a good healer and a good tank.
The xp gained is very nice easily took me 1/4 to 76 and the gold is also very helpfull.

Also if your into pvp stand around here you will get alot of it. saw 3 groups of allies that never left even after dieing over and over again to the pally.

I left this quest in my quest log after completion so I have some time to decide which one of the weapons offered as rewards to chose, only to discover later that quest is no longer mark as completed but failed and I have to repeat it again, do not make the same mistake as I did. GM said this is working as intended and that should you log off or zone out after completing the quest you can't turn it in after that.

Did this chain with 4 people in group.
Setup: 2x 80 DK, 1x 76 Elemental shaman (me), 75 Frost Mage
First 4 bosses i didnt even have to heal.
Last one was a tad tougher, had to pop bloodlust and heal one of the DK's.
Nonetheless, i know it's alot easier while having 80's in your group,
but since it was a quest for 5 people, i'd say it was a piece of cake.

And it's ofcourse a quick way to rack up some quick exp (if i remember well about 32k each quest), quick money and a real nice reward at the end.
I chose the healing mace, really nice reward for shamans since i switch resto at 80.

I found a pretty good way to gain xp using this quest. Get a few of your friends from the opposing faction (it might also work with members of the same faction, but I never tested this) and make sure that none of them have done the quest line. Have one of them do the quest line at a time, and each time the mob spawns have them let you tag it and then have them rush into the fray. when the enemy dies, you should get all of the xp but the other guy should get the credit for the kill. Do this repeatedly for each elite until everyone has finished the quest line, and you should have accumulated quite a bit of xp. I have only seen the amount of xp granted by the first and third elites, but the first gave me about 8k xp and the third guy gave me about 13k. If this is done correctly, it may grant you a few hundred thousand xp WITHOUT doing the quest yourself. I haven't tested this strategy on all of the elites, but seeing what has occurred with the first and third I can imagine that this will also work for the remaining guys.

If you're waiting for the opposite faction to finish this part of the quest, you can steal/ride on Enormos. Apparently, it becomes accessible to both factions, regardless if you're on the quest or not.

Jumping around as Enormos while the opposite faction is burning down Vladof is quite entertaining. I'm not sure if you can actually attack the opposing faction (I didn't want to screw around their quest by killing them).

Done in 3 with 79 balance dudu as healer, 76 proto warrior and 76 arms warrior.
we take it easy, just a few problem with Korrak.

At the level of 75 (the level when you can do this first time) - Whole quest chain grants 3 bars of level (15% of level). And nice amount of gold - it takes about 15mins and 100+gold, 15% of level and amazing reward is your! :)

Just and FYI because I saw that some people had the same issue that I did in doing this quest chain.

We summoned the first boss and only the person that started the quest got credit. The next time a bunch of us (like 3 of the 5) stood in the amphitheater and we got the popup that asks if you want to start the quest that whomever is starting.

After we saw that happen we would all run out to hand in the quest, and have one person start the next summon after the other 4 had jumped back down into the theater.

So to be able to do this as a party make sure you have one person start the summon after the others in your party are down in the theater. You will then only have to kill each boss one time

wow this was easier than the ring of blood chain. did this with me(75 blood DK) 2 75 frost mages a 76 BM hunter and a 80 priest. we down everyone first try with me tanking(and im not spec'd or geared for tanking).really easy with a sick axe for a reward.

I was honestly very suprised when attempting this questline. I went in as a 75 Rogue with an 80 Ret pally (heroic geared), two 76+77 Death Knights, and an 80 Naxx-geared Hunter. No healers. We just sent in the Hunter's pet and the Ret Paladin healed. It was laughable how quickly the bosses went down - I remember Ring of Blood being significantly harder.

I made about 100g from the cash rewards and five bars of XP from the quests (Started the chain soon as I dinged 75). And I'm loving my new Crimson Cranium Crusher! :)

I tried to solo the chain on my l80 druid alt with heroic tanking gears. The last one seems easy in the beginning
"Valdof dismounts"
"Valdof the butcher begin to spin, encased in a magical shield" - this is the time I run away regrowth rejuv then back to bear.

however after 4 "spins",
"Gurgthock yells 'OOOF! That one's gonna require the 'scraper''
"Gurgthock yells 'Call in the clowns! It's turned into a circus in there!'
and the quest failed...

so a few min later I joined a group and started from beginning, we took Valdof down after 2 "spins".

it seems the quest would time out if you try to solo it and taking too long...

Did the whole thing with a 80 dwarf hunter (78 pet cat), 80 gnome tank warrior!, and me a 76 ret pally that healed the whole time :P

had a little trouble with the tuskar guy because one of the helpers got to me and couldnt heal for about 30 secs

the korak guy stunned me a few times and could heal then either

the butcher was a piece of cake, yea it was more healing than before but those runic mana potions came in handy

Seems like they fixed that in 3.0.8 or 3.0.9, I tried going to him to level my druid's polearm skill (for completion's sake) and didn't get a single point from him. I'll be heading off to work on my loremaster achievement, killing level 5 mobs with my melee weapon, and getting weapon skill in the meantime :)

I actually tanked this quest at 74... couldnt really do the quest due to my level.... but there was a guy LFG for a while late at night and i figured i'd help him out. If i remember right.. we had 2 80s, a lvl 77 and i think a lvl 79 ret pally healing me.. lvl 74 Unholy DK dual weilding the axe from ragemane's quest and the mace from DTK.. i never lost aggro.. so yeah this quest will be easy when i do it at 75. imma take dps mace to replace the DTK mace on my OH.

We just 2-man the entire chain with decent geared 75 prot pally and 77 elemental shaman, without dying once. Most of the fights are very easy, but the troll boss has a stacking buff that increase his damage, so you might want to bring more dps for this fight, just to be sure.

Just soloed this entire chain on my warlock.

Tip on final boss:
You can kill the dude riding the mammoth before you kill mammoth.

Step1: have tank(pet or player) tag the mammoth, make sure he only hits it a few times, no one else should hit mammoth.

Step2: use ranged dps to pwn dude riding the mammoth, he can't hit you when he's on the mammoth. Make sure not to hit the mammoth as he dismounts when the mammoth reaches like 90% health.

I was just two-manning the whole quest chain, healing on my 75 ret pally with a 75 DK tanking. We had no problems through the whole chain, but after a few minutes of working him, this guy timed out on us and simply disappeared. It caused us to fail the quest, and we were left standing there wondering what happened. I suspect it is something that may have been intentionally added to keep two-man groups from slowly burning through the quest line.

Did this today at lvl79 with:

-2 lvl 75 Warlocks

-lvl 79 Balance Druid

-lvl 76 Arms Warrior

-lvl 79 Retribution Paladin (Healing)

Easy as pie. The only problem we had was that if you wipe on Vladof after he's dismounted, sometimes Enormos won't despawn, (Still mountable and everything.) and the event won't start. The easiest way to fix this is just to kill Enormos.

I "virtually" solod this quest chain on my 77 blood spec dk, 56 5 7. 20316 armor, 526 def, 17.32 dodge, 14.97 parry. 19864 hp. Name of Samedis. Did use Dragonfin filet for +40 str and stam and elixir of mighty strength.

First 4 elites aren't bad, died once on the elemental boss, drew Az'Barin, wasn't ready for his lightning or the adds, got lucky on second draw and got Erathius. Died once on Korrak, again wasn't ready, he starts hitting hard and fast around 40K, died with him having 20K. Second time a 76 DK from opposite faction happened to help out, I saved most of my major CDs, Vampiric Blood, Mark of Blood, Raise Dead and Death Pact, Icebound Fortitude, and Empower Rune Weapon, as well as Figurine - Monarch Crab and HP pot for right at this point, and made sure that Rune Tap was up, just tried dealing as much damage as possible while concentrating on keeping my HP up. Didn't die, but probably wouldn't have been able to hold out and get him without the extra dps from other DK.

Vladof was much easier than Korrak. He hits nearly as hard as Korrak did at the end with his buff maxed, but not nearly as fast. Taking Enormous down wasn't any problem. After Vladof jumped off I mounted and dismounted Enormous, I did not attack Vladof while mounted, although I might have had Vladof targeted and Enormous might have gotten off a regular attack without me noticing. Keep away from his spin, spread out your healing CDs for separate healing bursts when you get low, and bring him down. On this fight, the other 76 DK died twice, first time mainly from his spin, second time I guess was from spin too. I don't think I would have had a problem soloing him.

Blood spec questionable as a DK tanking spec? Hah!

Well we did this today, after spamming all over Zul for 30 minutes for a healer..... none of use was expecting to do it succesfully but we managed to do it... team was composed :

80 DK (me) mostly in green & blue quest gears as the tank (22k HP) (kept spamming death strike to heal myself)
75 DK
75 Mage

And we succeed. We even kill the last boss twice cause the mage died just before. I guess with a healer this quest is piece of cake.

Easily soloed this entire chain as an 80 retradin in welfare pvp epics using SoL/JoL. The only time I almost died was near the end of Korrak as he starts dealing massive damage, so you may want to save your CDs for this fight.

Be warned. Even if you complete this quest, if you release spirit for whatever reason, it will tag it failed.

I have it as complete. The title of the quest has failed in it. It cannot be turned in. Now I do it again. :(

I just completed this whole chain with my 77 Holy Specced Priest, Sanctimoniá, and my boyfriends 77 Protection Specced Paladin, Cadaceus.

Cadaceus was kitted out in the Tempered Saronite kit and my kit is mostly quest reward blues from Borean Tundra, Howling Fjord or Grizzly Hills.

This was definately the hardest of the fights and I almost died twice after getting charged. When he dismounts and Enormos becomes rideable Cadaceus jumped on and used Enormos to keep agro while letting Vladof kill Enormos. By the time Enormos died Vladof was under 50% health and he just needed whittled down. It took a little while and I needed to use my Shadowfiend at half mana and then popped a Runic Mana Potion which was boosted by 40% my Mercurial Alchemist Stone.

I decided against the Chilly Slobberknocker and chose the Screw-Sprung Fixer-Upper to go with the Tome of the Lore Keepers I found in The Nexus for the extra spell power and critical strike rating.

Item Comparison of these 2 options versus the Staff of the Purposeful Mendicant that I had equipped throughout the quest.

Duo-soloed the quest chain cause I couldn't find anyone online during the nights when I could do it, so used my 78 Ret pally in prot spec with shield + sword (didn't even have sword skill over 400 when I started, ended up nicely on 475+ in the end) and my 78 holy priest on my alt account.

This quest was actually one of the easier ones, since it was just a tank and spank most of the times. Just cleansed the debuff right away and moved off when he started spinning, perfect time to reorganize things, such as if you've been kicked too far apart by the charges etc. Also saved a bunch of mana.

The problem with doing it yourself with two accounts is the mammoth... First time I mounted the paladin on the second spin, just to make sure it wouldn't despawn. However, I missed that you still take personal damage even on the mammoth, only noticed it when it was far too late, wipe.

Second time, I decided to to the same and wait until the second spin to mount the mammoth, but due to a missclick I managed to mount it the millisecond it popped up. I felt that it just wouldn't work to do it that early, so I dismounted hoping that you could reount it later on, you can't. It turns hostile - but passive - once you dismount. So I were left with the only option to simply kill the boss and hope the mammoth wouldn't despawn. Note that I didn't even attack the boss once with the mammoth.

The rest of the fight without the mammoth was incredibly easy, just cleanse and avoid the spin. Even though I had to grind down 200.000hp in prot spec, which probably took about 4-5 minutes, the mammoth stayed put. And priest ended up at over 50% mana, shadow fiend was used though, but it wasn't necessary.

I'm not at all experienced with pally prot atm, first time I really used prot cause of the dual spec. Pretty much just bashed whatever was ready, unless I were low on mana etc. Yet I managed to do it while playing both pally and priest at the same time with only quest greens and blues. So it's not that hard. The hardest boss for me were magnataur that did very nasty and fast dps. Yggdras and from beyond (water for me) was alright, the many adds were a close call though, but no cooldowns used at all to counter it, so it's fairly easy.

Tuskarmageddon was a joke, just consecration to pull the adds off the healer, and the bosses dps was a joke as well. The only issue was mana on the paladin. He hit so low and so slow that I didn't get much mana from being healed, and divine plea + judgement of the wise couldn't quite satisfy consecration spamming while using more damaging skills.

Two manned today as a level 77 Shaman Enhance spec and a level 80 hunter.

I was enhance and dpsed the rest of the fights except this one where i just healed. I did how ever heal in my enhancement gear.
The hunter was Marksmanship and in mostly blues, with a couple of the AH item level 200 epics. He just dinged today.

Heres how we did it :

As soon as the event started the hunter attacked the guy on top of the mammoth, thus making the mammoth no longer in combat and just chilling as the guy on top dismounted.
Then the hunter put his pet Vladof and the pet tanked it. (Level 80 bear pet).
The hunter kept mend pet up, and i healed the pet while the hunter dpsed him down.
Because im enhance i used one mana potion.
I also used my spirit wolves for fun : )

Alternative strategies if things go bad i can think of :
If the hunters pet were to die i would have popped earth elemental totem and healed it.
If I went oom after using the mana pot then i would have popped Shamanistic Rage+My Ap increasing trinket+my orc racial and gotten fast mana back.
If we didnt have the healing speed or dps (probably figured out during a wipe or a close call) I would have popped bloodlust, and it would have been over.

I hope this helps, this whole event is really not hard. I could have soloed the first two mobs im pretty sure, they didnt seem much harder then soloing the other 3/5man quests.

Completed this today with a group of 3.
Level 75 Druid (Bear)
Level 75 Warlock and
Level 76 Frost Mage
We had to blow most of our cool downs and watch our step but we made it to the end. Druid switched to healing on the last fight after the boss dismounted and warlock picked up the mammoth.
Great XP and a good deal of gold if you can hack it at 75.

A quest with very nice rewards for almost every class. I did this on my Ret Paladin (76) with a Rogue (76) and we two-manned this without any problems. On the last boss we wiped once, but the second time we prevailed.

Fight the mammoth first then butcher will hop off. Have a group member or yourself hop on mammoth and use it to fight the butcher.

Notes on accepting the quest:
1) Spamming the quest giver will interrupt his ability to actually offer the quest. Wait for the quest icon to appear.
2) Only one person per group should accept the quest. Let that be shared across the group. Multiple people accepting in the same group will show you both get the quest, but both won't get credit. Causes the group to have to repeat bosses.

Due to multiple groups competing for this on Classic launch, the process slows way down.
