In fact, ANY member of the Kirin Tor will offer this quest once you hit 74. Speak to him a 2nd time and up you go.

If you take a mage portal or are otherwise ported to dalaran, and you do the quest Learning to Leave and Return: the Magical Way then you will not be offered this quest. You'll only miss out on 2100 experience and 10 reputation with Kirin Tor, so not a big deal.

Lol besides running to crystalsong after I talked to a magister and went to Dalaran, I took the Wintergrasp portal by accident and didn't get the FP :(

I think this was just the designers way of getting some laughs at the expense of we who don't fully read the quest text at times. Run all the way through the twisty paths in a damn glacier into a, while very visibly nice looking, is dull as sock lint area until we realize there's no way up.

The guy who teleports you to Dalaran is Magister Tyr'ganal who is located inside the inn of Venomspite.

My advice is to not complete this quest until you have a good reason to or you have another trick to teleport to Dalaran.

You should be able to continually use this quest to get you a quick port into Dalaran from Orgrimmar or Undercity.
E.g:
Undercity > Zeppelin ride > quest port
Ogrimmar > Zeppelin ride > quest port

(also will get you to Shattrath with little trouble since you can port there from Dalaran).

Unfortunately I haven't been able to confirm this as I finished the quest without considering the possibilities.

May I also remind you to pick up the flight path while you're in Dalaran.
Of course I just forgot so now I'm either gonna have to run back or get a mage port. Slightly irritating...

I can't get this quest on my 76 main. My hearth is currently set to Dalaran and I have the Dalaran flight path but I have not completed the second quest in the chain (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12790).

Don't turn this quest in. If you keep the signet on you, any of the quest givers will port you to Dalaran whenever you talk to them.

As mentioned you don't need to turn this in, and it's like a free teleport to Dalaran, however there are 4 mages that you can talk to get teleported.

Magistrix Kaelana - Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra.
Magister Varenthas - Vengeance Landing, Howling Fjord.
Magistrix Phaelista - Conquest Hold, Grizzly Hills.
Magister Tyr'ganal - Venomspite, Dragonblight.

I haven't done the https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12790] quest, but I can't accept the quest to go to Dalaran. All i get when I talk to one of them is 'Greentings <Class>'. How am I supposed to get to Dalaran now?

Interestingly, Dalaran isn't actually a kingdom....it's a mageocracy.

According to the 'Quick Facts' box this quest is started with Image of Archmage Aethas Sunreaver, but it appears it is also possible to pick it up with Magister Varenthas at Vengeance Landing in Howling Fjord. Why this page does not say, I do not know.

This Quest is offered by several NPCs throughout Northrend.
With a "clever use of game mechanics," players can use these NPCs to quickly teleport to the city of Dalaran.
Accept the quest, speak to the NPC, teleport to Dalaran, then abandon the quest. Do not turn in the quest.

Hello, <name>. You may or may not be aware that we Kirin Tor moved our city here to Northrend.

No longer does Dalaran sit under its protective dome on the shores of Lordamere Lake. Now the city magically floats above the Crystalsong Forest.

We believe you to be ready for your journey to the city. Speak with me again and I will cast a spell of teleportation to transport you there.

When you arrive, seek out Archmage Celindra and give her my signet as proof that we spoke.
