Koltira Deathweaver will be on a painbench in the basement if no one started the event yet. As soon he is in his magic dome you can pick up the quest, waves of magic dealing adds spawn and after a while the High Inquisitor will.
Stay inside the anti magic dome and you will take very little damage.

Anyone can loot the corpse of the Inquisitor, even people outside of your party.

Remember to use death strike to heal yourself but only come out the dome to use it after he has just finished casting and therefore won't hit you again in that short space of time.

For people who are wondering where the basement is. Its in the Hold (the big castle) to the east). There is a guy lieing on the bench, that you can talk to. That will start the arrival of the Inquisitor (after some of his helpers).

If you die while doing this quest you have to wait till Koltira dies in his bubble (a few minutes) then get the quest again when he spawns back up on the table.

The tattoos you see on him when he's on the racks makes me believe he was once a demon hunter.

At one point, Kael'thas sent five blood elves to be trained as demon hunters under Illidan. One of them succeeded, one of them went crazy, and the other three died. Perhaps Koltira was one of those unfortunate three?

the entrance to where you fight the inquisitor is at the main floor of the hold 62,68. Had a heck of a time finding it.

Ok, now after accepting this quest, if you don't care much for reading what the quests say, just make sure you dont run out of the room, now Koltira Deathweaver will put up an anti magic bubble, stay inside the Anti-magic Zone, since you will come up against 3-5 Crimson Acolyte's at a time and the anti magic Zone stops 85% of spells damage, if you are not inside the bubble they will hit you for around 500 damage, if you are, it should be about 75-85, now when High Inquisitor Valroth appears (after the 3rd wave) he will be by himself.

Solo
If you are soloing this, it can be quite hard. since even though you are inside the Anti-Magic zone you will still be hit for 150-250, and he can sometimes start a fair distance away, which means you are being hit and you cant do much about it. so just try to use icy touch, and death coil, if that happens, though you can stand right on the edge of the Anti-Magic Zone and hit him. just make sure you do have the buff when attempting this.

Grouped
Now when doing this as a party, its very simple, everyone stands in the Anti-Magic Zone and kill the Crimson Acolyte's, when High Inquisitor Valroth Appears, whoever he has targeted stay in, everyone else just beat on him. when you pull agro quicky get into the Anti Magic Zone.
Note: you dont have to be partied up to be able to loot the corpse.

do NOT use a ghoul. The acolytes that rush you can fear your ghoul, who'll probably run up the stairs and agro some of the guards at the top. Mine died, but then I had about 10 guard constantly coming down the stairs while I was trying to fight the others in the encounter and it just screwed up everything. Honestly this quest worked BETTER in the beta, gj blizz

do NOT use gargoyle. They delightfully agro the whole building.

If you die, even if you come back as a ghoul.. the boss will vanish. You can kill him and you'll just have to do it over again

It's actually quite easy to solo.

Just keep spamming Icy Touch & Death Coil while staying within the shield.

Drink a Noth's Special Brew (reward from North's Special Brew) when low on health.

Note: When the High Inquisitor comes down, it is possible to Death Grip him into the anti-magic sphere. You have to stand behind Koltira to do this.

I can confirm that Death Grip does work on him, at least if you use it before his first spell cast. Just managed to solo the quest quest quite easily by pulling him into the sphere with Death Grip and going all out on him.

I did not pay any attention to where I was positioned when casting Death Grip, but I interrupted his first attempt to cast a spell right after coming down the stairs.

well, after finally doing all of the 36 quests of the DK, I can say this one is the hardest one of them all.

I'm not implying this one is really hard or anything, simply that the others are really easy, and offerr no real chalenge, this one is the only one that offers a real challenge and real danger of death.

if u completed this quest, u can rest safely cause the rest of the chain is a tottal breeze

couple of points:

A: as many stated DON'T use the ghoul, he has the tendency of going upstairs after u clean the first wave, and upstairs he keeps them and actually stacks wave 2 and 3, so when the ghoul is dead, u have to deal with both waves at the same time (not pretty at all)

B: the inquisitor CAN be gripped, but there's only 2 ways of doing it, either grip him as soon as he's in point of view (before he's casted any spells at all) or when he knocks u back to the corner of the room

C:if u die, don't panic, just wait for the elf to respawn and redo all again, it can take more than 1 try if u are soloing this.

D: death strike and rune-tap are your best friends here, even if u don't like blood, spec into blood for this quest alone (respecs are tottaly free while u're in the scarlet enclave) so if u're not blood, respect into blood and pick runetap and inproved rune tap, after the quest, u can easily respec back to the tree you had.

last but not least: and this one is so ovious I shoundn't even mention it :P dont u EVER leave the bubble, if u do, u're dead (since DK's are dead, I guesst the correct term would be re-dead?)

I wish blizz could had made this quest in a more open room, there's hardly any room for the camera during this whole event, more than once I clicked the elf when I wanted to click a crusader.

When you finish the quest, Koltira says he will draw fire, so you can just run after him through the building. At the entrance he will mount up and ride away.

Well, I'm not real sure what happened, but the mobs out front did not draw his aggro, and instead descended on me. About ten of them. I died spectacularly.

I was not impressed.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned here is that if someone is there before you, and you are ungrouped but have this quest, you can get Valroth's head regardless of whether or not you tapped him first.

But don't be a moron and stand by twiddling your thumbs while someone else solos the quest so you can get the quest item for free. That's just rude. -_-

The bastard knocked me back behind the iron maiden in the corner and caused me to be stuck, so I got owned quickly. You may want to be wary of that and position your back so that you don't go directly into the corner if that's possible. It may have been a fluke, I don't know.

Its bugged for me, even if im in the magic shell i get raped within 5 seconds.

What i did to finish it anyway is getting my pet agro on highlord first. so he nukes my pet. My pet didnt die so easy so i was able to nuke highlord

If you doing this quest I suggest be prepared. Use your other toon and send to your Deathknight: food with buffs, Glyphs, Sharpening stone, potions, and elixers. You can use 2 Major and minor glyph make use of it. On fight for this quest there is 3 waves and then High Inquisitor. The quest itself is located in the basement of the building. There is one guard on that floor. I suggest you kill it near the end of the steps so you can use it's body later. After killing that soldier heal up and buff up. Afterwards start the quest and he will make a dome and it will grant you some protection from spell. You need to kill the waves pretty fast or they will be more then you can handle. I suggest you go ahead outside of bubble and kill 1st wave as fast as possible and use a potion to recover hp. If you kill fast enough there is a 4 sec delay and by that time High Inquisitor pops you will be able use another potion. The 2nd one stay inside bubble and kill the one near the bubble. Then let the other cast and jump outside kill them as quickly as possible. K last wave remember that boby we left by the stairs use corpse explosion when you can and deal them off swiftly. Run back to bubble heal "bandages" and Death Grip High Inquisitor in bubble. Kill inside bubble if you can. If Death grip doesn't work you can still cast a few spells inside bubble and he stop casting after 3-4 cast and you go out to attack then run back in when he starts again. Potion should be back up so use that if you need too. Hope this helps this everyone in beating him.

One of the worst quest. The room is way too small, you can't zoom out very much.

Half the time I was trying to select one of the ennemies, I clicked on the demon hunter and it opened a quest window.

The quest is completly unbalenced, the first few mobs have few health points, while the inquisitor deals a lot of damage and takes a while to be killed.

Soloed the quest with my dk after four tries. Just stay at the edge of the bubble at all times and you should be fine (had to learn that the hard way).

Tried on one server with a human dk, specced as blood, solo'ed quite easily, on second server, rolled an undead and was constantly pwned... was specced as unholy, will change to blood and try again...

<edit> Respecced as blood and handed him his head, then ripped it off and took it for the quest...

Easy solo if you eat between mobs, grip him into the bubble and use icy touch & coil at range after knockback, to keep the attack going as you close again.

This quest sucks! If you die, be ready for a loooong wait before everything comes back to normal, so make sure to NEVER stand outside the bubble if you dont want to get really bored (im actually writing this while wating for the repawn)

NEED SOME HELP HERE, i got killed during the quest, and wen i got ressurected the inquisitor was gone and when i abandoned the quest, and i did it again, no acolytes came anymore, as the inquisitor, then koltira died and it was over..... i want the chest, the money, the talent points and the exp!

Also, if you decide to shadowmeld when High Inquisitor Valroth comes down to the basement, he will reset and you will have to wait for Koltira to die and respawn on bench to restart quest. Happened to me >.>

Protip: When Koltira says he'll draw their fire, he means, "Just keep running, and hopefully they won't get to you in time." All he does is pull 2 outside, and then he mounts up and rides away. Be prepared to stop and kill them, unless you have a party.

ok heres how i soloed him, After killing all the before mobs. Pull him into the shield then just pound away at him, he can't cast on you with-in the shield.

Okay, here's how I did it solo with my death knight Rylehira after dying numerous and I mean numerous times. I went out and started killing Scarlet Crusaders to get runecloth and made as many heavy runecloth bandages as I could. They heal for 2000hp. I equipped them on my action bar and then used them at the end during the battle with the Inquisitor. I would go back into shield and heal. Even if interrupted, you will still heal. Then I would go out of the shield and hit him with icy touch and death coil. I also used raise the dead and had a ghoul at the end as well.

I also almost abandoned this quest, but realized I could not go on without it.

I died 6 or 7 times trying this, eventually realized that other posters had skills I lacked. Turns out it's pretty easier to overlook the class trainer back in Ebon Hold (perhaps you can't train until you've done enough quests outside the hold or something, idk). Anyway, if you don't have Death Strike and Raise Dead yet, get training.

Now time for one more try at him....

I died a stupid amount of times doing this quest - until I read on a Thott thread to use Raise Dead on the last guys before Valroth turns up - and killed him relatively easily!

A good way that I found to kill him solo is to let him use a bit of his mana while standing in the shield. Then run out smack him a few times and when he starts to cast run back in. Rinse and repeat while casting death coil and icy touch on him whenever it's up.

ugh, god. this is the worst; i'd almost kill him but he'd start healing himself. talk about frustration!
is there any way to skip this quest and still go on? i can't seem to find any other quests to do besides this one.

When you die and return, wait for Koltria to get back into bed, then talk to him again. I've done this many times and never had to abandon and re-aquire the quest. It just starts over at that point...

This is the WORST! Every time I try and stay inside the shield he just blasts me out and then heals himself. With no other quests to do with this toon I am now abandoning him and going back to my warrior - what a waste of time.

I had a tough time with this quest. I would die, the guy would keep the shield up but no more people would come. I'd abandon the quest and he would still stand there. Eventually, he died and hopped back in the bed.

During one of my many deaths during this quest(I just couldn't kill Valroth), I came back down the stairs to find another player on the quest. When the Valroth came down the stairs, I figured I'd help the player with it, so at least one of us could get out of the basement. I helped him and the corpse produced a head for both of us in spite of the fact that we weren't grouped.

Moral: Hang out for a second guy if you have problems then you should be all set.

I did it all from within the shield and had no worries. The badguy knocked me out of the shield a couple times, but I just went back in and didn't come very close to death. You can heal in the shield.

The alarms have been sounded. The High Inquisitor and his acolytes will be here soon. I'm too badly injured to be of much use, but I'll do what little I can to help.

Slay the High Inquisitor and his cronies. Tear off his head and return with it to Thassarian. Vengeance will soothe his savage soul.

One more thing, <name>. If you do manage to survive and make it back to Thassarian, tell him that they're executing prisoners at the chapel. Perhaps he'll send you there to play the hero once more.
