Upon examining the tracks you will find that some aren't Shango tracks and won't give credit. Just keep looking until you get three Shango ones.

They are around the north side of the lake as well (32,36) all the ones I've found (north or south) are Dreadsaber and not Shango tracks.

Edit: they ALL show up as "Dreadsaber tracks" in the tooltip. You have to rclick them and examine them to see if they are the right type.

If you don't have coordinates, by "north side of the lake" he means North West of the lake. It's also a must to right click all tracks because for some reason the Shango tracks show up as Dreadsaber.

inaccurate all previous comments tracks spawn randomly go around 39 , 45 south part of lake is actually most northern part of area where tracks spawn and pick up tracks until you get 3 right tracks and yeah Shango's real tracks are different than rest.

For this quest. You must find these foot print looking things on the ground. Right click them, it takes 5 seconds to open them. After openning them you will probably see a message that says "These aren't Shango's tracks." But thats ok. Just move on to the next one that you see. If you get a message that says "These tracks must belong to Shango." you have got the right thing. You need 3 tracks that belong to Shango. This quest takes a long time becuase most of them are not the right tracks. You shouldn't have to kill anything in this quest.

Hang in there if you're getting a long run of "These aren't Shango's tracks", like all random drops you could theoretically have dozens of fails before you get a hit. My own experience with this quest, shown as a dot chart ("." = "These aren't Shango's tracks", "*" = "These tracks must belong to Shango") was like this:
...........**..*
10 fails and then 3 hits with only 2 more fails. So keep going - you will get it.

this is stupid... i keep reading posts that say "you need 3 of these tracks" WELL NO @#$%ING #$%^ SHERLOCK! thanks for the obviouse, for a moment i might have believed i was looking for shango dung instead of footprints.

ANYWAYS!

i followed what these guys said... "search the north side of the lake" i didnt see a single track once i was on the north side... NOT A 1

i started seaching on the south side, every footprint i searched in the grassy area was not it, i got to the sand at around 35,41 (for those of you with coords, for those with out, the southwest corner of the lake). i came across the first track in the sand, BINGO!, second track in the sand, BINGO! and finally, a third track in the sand... and what would ya know... LAST ONE! YAY!

now i might have just gotten lucky... but looking at the screenshots and what just happened with me... it leads me to believe the tracks are usually the tracks in the sand... not the grass.

and for those who read these, and also do posts... STOP POSTING OBVIOUS CRAP! we know we need this stuff, we arent looking to see how much we need of it, or what we need... we are looking on where to get it.

Here's a theory that I just observed: if you go to Shango's coordinates and search the tracks around the rocky area where he wanders around, the tracks are more likely to turn out to be his tracks. I got 3 of them in a row, although it could just be pure luck. Anyone care to confirm?

you can w8 cause the traps have around 1min respawn and if you find one you can just w8 and the trap will spawn in like 10-20yd range of the old one

You'll either say...

"These Tracks must belong to Shango's" In this case you'll get credit for identifying a track.

If not, You'll say "These aren't Shango's Tracks."

I had to examine 12 tracks before getting 3 that were Shango's.

It's possible this quest was changed in 3.0.8, like Nice to Meat You and a few others. I got 3 tracks after only 4 attempts. Can anyone else confirm?

I found alot of tracks on the beach, at the end of the path 35 - 41. If you want to do the quest easy without killing any mobs, this is a good place to find tracks. I hope this helps.

Be sure to follow the path going away from the beach as there are a few more track less well seen along it. I followed untill about 32.43 and managed to find around three.

Zanglang, I can 'confirm,' that heading for Shango's location 3 of the 4 click's, all on rocks, were positively Shango's. I also can confirm that the Tool-Tip is definiently different from the "Positive" click vs. the "Negative" or Failed click of the pawmarkings of Shango.

I guess the tracks are random. I found mine at 31,39; 32,41; & 35.41.5. The tracks are identified as "Dreadsaber Tracks." After you examine them some are identified as Shango's Tracks, others as "These aren't Shango's tracks." About two in five were "Shango's Tracks" for me.

Buck Cantwell at the Nesingwary Base Camp wants you to identify 3 Shango Tracks from the Dreadsaber Tracks near Bittertide Lake.

I have heard that the natives tell stories of a large dreadsaber they call Shango. I haven't seen any evidence of this Shango's existence, but my injuries have kept me from venturing outside the camp.

If you fancy yourself something of a tracker, you might be able to find out the truth about Shango. Debaar said she saw some large tracks on her last outing. Go north from the camp toward Bittertide Lake, and search its southern shore for the prints.
