make sure to stay back behind the wall of guards after you accept the quest, otherwise the event will spawn mobs on top of you and you will have a much tougher time staying alive

Bolvar says during the fight

This is a reference to Inigo Montoya, from the Princess Bride.

He is famous for his line "I am Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

There are a few quests you need to do before the first step in Part One but some of them are just bread crumb quests to let you know where to go. Hope this helps.

This is the most annoying quest in WotLK I've encountered so far. I walked into the cavern, seeing other people were already doing it. Fine, I'll wait, I thought. After they'd done it, I didn't get a chance at turning in my quest to start the next one, before someone else had already started it. This repeated a couple of times until I decided repeatedly watching other people do a quest is no fun for me. So I just went outside and on to the next quest in my quest log.

This quest has quite a bit of dialog. This is what was said when I did it.

Currently on my fifth attempt of this quest (I'm a priest). The NPCs rapidly scatter - feared - making it impossible for me to use them as shields. My fear ward only holds up against one cast, and the second time I'm run into a wall with all the adds on me. Dispersion gives me a little breathing space, but when I come out of it I'm still under attack. I cannot sustain myself to the end of the fight. Despite not releasing I haven't been credited with the defeat and the quest is marked as failed.

No such problems when I ran this on my lock and mage. I'm beginning to think it's impossible to solo and I will have to ask a tank along.

after dying constantly, I took the advice of going behind the wall. once you get the quest run over to the entrance area and you will see little corner walls. stay behind that and wait until the boss lets out the other monsters and then go out and peg these off one at a time, then kill the boss...easy that way!

just a slight thingy, i think he stole a line from noth.. he says "you have fought hard and come from distant reaches of the world to face the duskbringer" wich is awfully close to "you have fought hard to invade the realm of the plaguebringer".. just something i noticed

well, i was attacking the boss and everything and he was almost dead and he feared us. I ran into a corner and kept being feared and almost at the end, i just sorta fell through the floor and ended up falling for about a minute before i died. don't run into corners lol

So I died a couple times while doing this (and without reading this) and now I go to do the quest but it just...doesn't work. I can't talk to the commander guy and have him bring out the lich. Any ideas?

There appears to be a bug with this quest.

I accepted the quest and the RP started whereupon I invited another player to group as they were on the quest too. Despite getting a tag and being able to loot the lich I did not get credit for the quest yet the other player did get credit. Tried again with another player and the same, they got credit whereas I didn't.

Third attempt I did it by myself after abandoning the quest and re-accepting it. It worked.

Every good story has a beginning and an ending, <name>. While your story is far from over, I'll be damned if it's not already turning out to be the stuff of legend! No matter what happens to us when this is all over, what you've done at Wintergarde will be a tale told for years to come.

Now, ally, when you are ready I will use the phylactery to coax Thel'zan out of hiding.

Should we somehow succeed, report the victory to High Commander Halford Wyrmbane at Wintergarde Keep.
