Quest does work. First time I killed the naga, the tuskarr got an exclamation point, but ran away while I was still fighting the Kvaldir and I lost him.

Takes a long time to respawn, but if you kill the Kvaldir first, you should be ok.

Hey guys...I need to know. I have 2 quests left for the quest achievement in borean tundra. can you do this quest more than once and will it count towards that achievement? I can't find any other quests. I've already done this quest once.

I had trouble getting this quest too, flew in, killed the naga and the quest NPC ran away with no exclamation mark.

Next I killed all the surrounding mobs ('longboatsmen' standing in a circle) and finally the naga. The quest NPC looked into the air for a moment and said: "You have saved me...blablabla" and gave me the quest.

Perhaps killing the surrounding mobs (not only the naga) has some influence.

Confirming above comments... Killed only a few spectators and the naga; the quest giver got the ! over his head but quickly ran away. As was said above, be warned of the long respawn time.

I needed to kill all of the "spectator" mobs as well as the naga to get the quest giver to work properly.

Also once I killed the specators and the naga the quest giver did take a while to display his ! and make the quest available. So if you don't see the ! right away just stand there with him for a bit and he will make it available.

He's fighting a myrmidon in the middle of a ring of cheering Raiders.

Kill the Raiders first and then kill the myrmidon.

If you kill the myrmidon first and leave any of the Raiders, the tuskarr will dash away from the danger and you'll have to wait for the 10 minute respawn.

If there are no threats nearby, he'll stay, say thanks, and let you pick up his quest.

Some of this is untrue.
What I did was to rush into the circle (I was level 73 so I could run past the spectators) I killed the naga, and stood there for a couple of secs, when the "!" appeared above the prisoners head, but after approx 15 secs one of the spectators throws whatever weapon he wields, and kills the prisoner. If the spectators are still alive, new prisoners will spawn right away, since the spectating longboatsmen yells something about sending in the new prisoners who have to fight for their lives.

Killing all spectators and the the Riplash Myrmidon made the Captured Tuskarr Prisoner run away.

So, I killed the Riplash Myrmidon first and then the nearest spectator to activate the "!" above the Captured Tuskarr Prisoner's head when he respawned.

Here is the deal:

I ran in twice randomly, started killing stuff, noticed that the Captured Tuskarr Prisoner NPC name was yellow. When I killed the mobs around him and then the naga, he immediately got the quest icon above his head, and ran off faster than I could accept the quest.

So I waited for him to respawn while I was already in the mist. You get the following notification:

Skadir Longboatsman yells: You may have survived for our amusement, but now, you shall die at our hands!

Once you get that notification, the tuskarr will respawn. He is a green icon NPC, and as soon as you kill the naga, he stands there, waits a while, talks a bit, and then pops up the quest icon. He'll sit there as long as you need to get the quest.

You don't have to have this quest to complete the Borean Tundra achievement, but if you really want that quest for some reason, clear the area, let him run off, then wait for him to respawn.

the prisoner spawns at 44,77, surrounded by kvaldir. As the prisoner steps up, a naga spawns to attack him. Kill the anga, and he will thank you, then offer you a quest to go back to Karuk. The Kvaldir blast him down as well - in my case, the kvaldir killed him before I coudl accept the quest. I found that killing a few of the kvaldir and then rescuing him kept him alive long enough for me to accept the quest.

They made us fight the other prisoners. It would've been more merciful to just kill us all.

The youngling Karuk is still alive -- I noticed him arrive here. Tell him his father fought until the end.
