Just jump to the water west of king and dive to the bottom. There is classic water elemental. Kill him and use the shell on his corpse.

You need not have killed him yourself. As long as he's dead, just target him and use the conch.

I found him at about 42, 17, all the way at the bottom on the ocean floor.

Be sure to do this as quickly as possible. The 20-minute water breathing buff really comes in handy for the Winterfin Commerce quest linked above, and it should not take more than 2-3 minutes to get this done.

Quick guide:

1. Go to Scalder (water elemental)
2. Kill it...
3. Use on the corpse.

Tips: He is usually dead (considering people are still leveling towards 80) so use /tar Scalder to target him.
If you do try to figure out where he is. Try using the item even if you are not close (or see) him, it has a
long range -around 30 yards. :)

You are done, fetch the next quest.

Is this bugged for hunters?

When i did the cleft q where I had to swim to the bottom, my pet didn't follow me. It disappeared.

Now, when I went to the bottom to kill Scalder, my pet followed but wouldn't attack. It just sat there while i was almost killed. I feigned death and the npc went away. I tried twice and the same thing happened.

Did Blizzard do something that messes up pets at depth?

Be sure to pick up Winterfin Clams for next quest while you do this. Saves you some time.

I had a bad experience with this guy. Now I'm not sure what was going on, but after getting him to a certain percent he would immediately began evading, followed by a reset back to the spot I hit him at to start, only for him to UN-evade and head straight for me at full health again.

So, after about 15 frustrating minutes, I realized that when he does his frost/blast wave thing that pushes you back, if you get knocked back too far, he resets. Not sure if this is a bug, but I found that if I pointed my back at a rock wall and he uses that wave, I didn't get the knockback as severely and was able to kill him without him resetting.

Hopefully you all won't have that annoying an experience.

You don't have to be the one to kill him. When I came there he was dead, I used the conch and got credit.

You do have to swim down a bit to locate Scalder~As you swim down look for purple near bottom and he pats around this area. I located at 42,17.

Entangling roots doesn't work on scalder (the roots come up but it can still move around)

Right next to the quest giver, dive into the river and swim to the deep bottom. Scalder, a level 71 elemental, was found at 43,16 by me.

The mob may travel around, so keep an eye out.

For those of you like me who simply don't read the quest text:

You are looking for a water elemental named Scalder. The mob is all the way at the bottom of the river. If your underwater breathing buff wears off you can wait for the mob at the bubble thingy. If the mob isn't already dead you must first kill it, target the mob and click the Conch.

I saw Scalder at 42.17

I killed Scalder several times, no conch dropped. West back to SW to get my underwater potion and will try again later.

Descrizione

To help, you must learn how to speak the Winterfin dialect. We'll work with the forces of nature and magic to do that.

Take this empty conch shell. At the bottom of the watery trench below exists Scalder, an elemental of air and watery fury.

Once she is defeated, use the conch upon her remains to capture her magical steam. Return the full conch to me, and I'll imbue my knowledge of the Winterfin tongue into you.

Luckily, a friend taught me a water breathing spell, which I will cast upon you.
