The incense burner looks like a primal air (it took me awhile to find it since I just ignored it as another primal I had). Use the incense in Wyrmskull village and avoid the val'kyr, attacking them will spawn you out of the spirit world. If you want to just complete the quest, then go to the large building to the east of the lich king. However I strongly suggest you go talk to him, you will die but it's worth it.

What to do: Stand on top of the cords and use the Incense Burner to enter the spirit world. Listen to their story and read what they are hiding. Later on in your journey you will come across a quest that is linked to The Echos of Ymiron. Believe me, this is a good quest line for the story. If you enter the building and use the incense the quest will not complete.

If you go within range of the Lich King while in the spirit world, he will pull you over and then freeze you in stasis and you will be unable to move. The following event happens:

The Lich King grins.
The Lich King says: Shamanism has brought you here... Its scent permeates the air. *The Lich King laughs* I was once a shaman.
Val'kyr Soulclaimer says: Shall we prepare it for you, my lord?
The Lich King says: No, minion. This one is not ready.
The Lich King says: Do you feel it, mortal? Death seeps through me, enveloping all that I touch. With just a snap of my finger your soul will languish in damnation for all eternity.
The Lich King says: But... It is not yet your time to serve the Lich King. Yes, a greater destiny awaits you. Power... You must become more powerful before you are to serve me.
The Lich King says: Now watch, val'kyr. Observe as I apply pressure. Can you see that it is not yet ripe? Watch as it pops and falls lifeless to the floor.

The Lich King will then kill you.

Once you enter the building at 60.3, 51.5 and use your incense, you'll see two ghosts and a baby in a basket. You are in the right place, however the quest will not immediately complete. Wait for the two ghosts to finish their dialogue and your quest will complete.

Might I add there's voice acting to all this? Definitely worth the death to see this, the corpse run is about 5 seconds anyway.

Summation: Go to north east side of village, use incense and go invis basically. then u go into house and listen to them talk !@#%. once they are done talking ^#@$ that completes the quest.

Hint for Druids. I just found a bug where if you're in a shapeshift & used that item went to spirit world, they will never speak.

For me I was in moonkin form, I clicked the incense then I went to spirit world, waited for 10 good mins, they didn't speak, I tried out of spirit then into the spirit world once again for 5mins they didn't speak, Once I shifted to Normal form and used incense it worked like charm.

Just thought I might add this so people wouldn't waste time in the future Like I did.

Dont do what I did, and waste time by using the incense INSIDE the building... it doesn't work.

Use the incense outside, (61.51) and then walk in... mission complete.

Apparently it doesn't work for priests in shadowform either, so make sure to pop out first.

If you trigger the incense inside the building, just walk out to the grass and walk back in, it will trigger the story and will complete.

as you know tht when you go to the right place stand at the doorway and use the spirit then when you see the mother and the father with the baby and wait for awhile til you get complete but watch out for the ghost around don't go near it and try to run away from it and you go to the water and swim away. you will be fine and safe.

Ner'zhul's soul was actually in the armor and helm that Arthas put on at the end of The Frozen Throne, thus becoming the Lich King we know today.

Orignally, the armor was entirely encased in the frozen throne, but it got blasted apart by Illidan, when he used the Eye of Sargeras on it. The Lich King began losing power as a result, and summoned then death knight Arthas to him to serve as his avatar. Technically, the Lich King is now both of them. He looks like Arthas, but has the memories of both.

Ok, you can't attack Anything here :) BUT if you are a hunter you can stay passive and command your pet to attack, you can use their abilities but all you can cast is mend pet , not even a flare. and you should be able to kill an angel without any trouble, no loot or xp but if you need to kill one if your fishing . yep when in spirit world you can FISH for : Pygmy Sucker , Bonescale Snapper, Fangtooth Herring, and Glacial Salmon so far. Even fished up a few chest off the quest area pier out front of the house. I do recommend that you attempt to sneak past the Lich king once thought before you finish the quest.

Unfortunately, if you abandon the quest and pick it up again, it does not allow you to listen to the Lich King's speech again. Rather, he just repeats his persistence line. This disappointed me because I play with my sound off, and didn't read that it had voice acting until I had already gone through the speech.

It should be pointed out that from a lore point of view, Arthas was actually a paladin of the Knights of the Silver Hand. He was never a shaman. I think that one of the writers got their wires crossed at one point.

Regardless, this is still one awesome scene.

No the Story was retcon.

Arthas soul is now gone. He is fully under the control of Ner'Zhul (The True Lich King).

Right now, Arthas is fully a Warcraft 2 Death Knight. (Why?)

Answer:
Because he is a Knight being used as the host body of a Orc Warlock (AKA WC2 Death Knight).

Warlocks used the body of the knights, and the knight's memory of both Melee Skills and life exp to fight on as a more powerful unit.

(but it remains fully under the Warlock's control)

I managed to attack The Lich King, just by sending him my pet. He may ACTUALLY be killed by your pet, but you need too much patience.

See the video I made, I'm killing him with a Warlock (though I did not kill him because I have life and it would take me 3 days to do it just with my imp's dps ;D):

Please will someone leave a decent location to do this quest. What large bldg. ? l tried for an hour so far. I along with millions of other chars dont have cords. and all everyone seems to want to do is talk about how the seen the king.
Please will someone doing this quest and any other quest leave a map with the location. TY from all of us that dont have cords.
Note I have tried to use cords but cant seem to get them to work.

This quest and the next quest indicate how The Curse of Flesh had its effect upon Vrkyuls, and where humans actually originated from...
2nd quest shows that the aberrations(humans), are to be executed upon birth, and Vrykul are always to be vrykul, with pure blood...
1st quest shows the guys who acted against the rule of king ymiron, and that child there(not clickable) is the first human in history...

And about the Curse of Flesh... It was the work of the Old Gods(like Yogg-Saron and C'thun) to undo the titans' work, some kind of assimilation of the races on Azeroth.. like Earthen > Dwarf, Vrykul > Human...

I'm pretty sure there are plenty among u who wonder what's all this about, there you go.

It is in fact possible, if you have a pet/minion to attack the Val'kyr and even the Lich King if you attack using only your pet or minion, as any other will send you out. The lich king only hits 800's surprisingly, though I can't say whether my pet can in fact do damage, or it is just the fact that I am a lv 71 attacking the lich king.

Dying by the lich king does no harm but of course will remove any buffs you have, so be very careful if you have, for example, potion buffs active.

Also, when I ressed I managed to pull 2 baddies and had to pop demon form and immolation aura to survive. Ouchies.

Possible Spoilers

If you approach the Lich King, you will be grasped and stunned. He will then engage you in a short conversation, explaining his intentions to let you be free of his grasp so that you can be stronger before you serve him. He then kills you.

He allows you to continue your questing, and train in the Argent Tournament later on. Then, in Icecrown Citadel, he tells Tirion Fordring that the tournament was simply a way for you to get stronger. During the fight, he kills you and your entire raid in one sweeping motion. But, Tirion employs the power of the Light to break free from his bond and shatter Frostmourne. The raid is ressurected, the spirits of Frostmourne take their captor captive, and Arthas dies in his dead father's arms.

So, in the end, the Lich King sealed his own fate by allowing you to become stronger. Had he decided to enslave you then, he might have had a chance.

before you go to the house, use the burner and head to the entrance of Utgarde (48, 49). There will be a cool cutscene with the LK himself. He'll then kill you (didn't see any durability dmg btw). When you rez, use the incense and go back there, he'll get annoyed (with your "persistence or stupidity") and kill you again.

No rewards, but kinda cool egg nonetheless.

Rogue Warning: If you stealth into the house and then use the incense you will have to "trip" the conversation by going near the entrance (threshold). I waited and waited; ran all around and waited some more. LOL.

Very annoying quest, these guys aren't talking! grrr. waited for like 5 minutes, but I ran out of the house (while in spirit world) then back in. they finally started talking

I finally made this one on the third try after realizing that the Val'kyr, the flying creatures that will get you when you are in the "spirit world," do not exist until you go into the "spirit" mode, and they are constantly blocking the entrance to the house (opposite the side facing the water with the "harpoon guns").

That means you are going to have to clear a few of the mobs around the house, go in the door, then don the spirit thingy and listen to the conversation. As soon as it ends, the "quest completed" wording appears.

I found that the best way to get in and out of the town is to jump in the water and swim from Valgarde. As you swim and approach the town, you can see the "harpoon guns" facing the water, which tells you that you have the right house.

By the way, if you are spotted in the spirit mode by the flying Val'kyr, they don't attack you, they just spoil your disguise and vanish. Any mobs that happen to be around will attack you-which is another good reason to clear them first.

Th Lich King caught me on the way into the building and gave a speech about how i wasn't yet ripe etc, before he killed me! I must have done something wrong.

Take note - if you are a hunter, park your pet outside or the ghosts inside will not perform for you. Your pet will get attacked out there, but the drama is short, and you can easily save him when it's over.

Okay use the spirit thing you get and go to 60,50 and let the 2 people talk a little... you have to sit there and wait a while but they eventually talk to each other... I ran around forever waiting for a question mark.. I should have known better

Used the item inside the building. RP characters appeared, but RP didn't start. Waited there a bit, went out, went back in, tried again, same issue, went towards the exit door and RP started. I was removed from spirit world when I got to the door, but I ran back in instantly and used the item and then the RP that started played out to the end and I was able to complete the quest.

Feels very buggy, but you can still complete this. (This was during togc patch wotlk classic.)

Take this incense burner to Wyrmskull Village and use it to enter the spirit world. Find the large dwelling in the northeast! Avoid the val'kyr at all costs lest they make you a permanent fixture in their world.
