Burying the pendant spawns Old Whitebark's Spirit, which you must fight before being able to complete the quest.

You just use the pendant near the stone, there is no "mound" as in some other quests to interact with to bury the pendant

As soon as you bury the pendant in the ground, Old Whitebarks spirit comes to attack you, he uses a root to keep you from running and he's fine with killing you if he can, but when he gets low on health hes like "oh come on! lets not fight!" I hate this guy, I wish I could kill him after he says that lol.
You can see the runestone from outside Larianna Riverwinds house if you look southeast. GL

Did this quest at 4 AM, after playing WoW all night....while listening to Story of My Life by Social D...I seriously almost started to cry having to kill that poor old tree

if you take too long reading the quest after defeating Whitebark he will despawn and you have to kill him again >.< Not that hes hard to kill tho.

Odd. Could not use at stone. However, killed the spirit wandering next to it and it was completed.

Just as a warning, he aggroes you once you put the pendant down and you have to fight him again.

Carbonite will post a yellow question mark in the wrong place. The correct coords are 37, 86.
