sheep are found in many places, theyre really fun to kill, great for skinning since they're one of the few critters in the game that can be skinned.

Because sheep are sometimes a source of Wool Cloth, it's great to gain those one or two Wool Cloth to help First Aid or Tailoring.

odd as of patch 3.2 they don't want lvl 1 twinks lvling skinning on critters so critters can no longer be skinned(at least from my experience).

1: They're no longer skinnable like every other critter for some reason.
2: I did polymorph tests on sheep.
White turns black, black turns gray, and gray turns white.
This is both with natural sheep color -and- polymorphed sheep. Yes, you can sheep sheep.

Its only happened to me once, if you sheep something right when it dies, it's dead body will be a sheep.

Don't forget, if you skin them, they can drop wool! Actually halfway useful to a low-level skinner/tailor.

Sooo....are there any zones a level 15 won't get murdered in that you can find sheep (or other common wool drops)

The Sheep in Elwynn dont drop anything for me by killing them. Perhaps if u skin them, though.

they said they just updated this crap, but its wrong obviously, u cant loot critters, except for skinning them... so the only things on the table should be "ruined leather scraps" "light leather" and "wool cloth"

i remember some loot table that had lvl 1 critters - Roach - having somin like 15% chance to drop brightwood.... scary part was the comment below that was something like "ive been grinding these things for hours with my friend but we cant loot it! do we have to be in a raid or something?" ><

For HC Classic, (DefiasPillager server), August 29th, 2023: The sheep are skinnable, and do drop ruined leather scraps, light leather, and wool cloth. However, despite having 100/150 skinning skill, it's dropping more ruined leather scraps than the loot table here on wowhead would otherwise indicate.

Sheep stopped being skinnable (same with cows & rabbits, etc) at some point, I think in Cata...but in Classic, they're still skinnable.

It appears they seem to share spawn locations with deer & cows (not sure about the fawns), as those seem to also spawn in the same areas. If you haven't seen any sheep, consider culling those, and see if the sheep pop up.

Definitely much higher proportion of leather scraps and light leather than wool cloth. I've killed over a dozen sheep (finding them spawning in spots where I've taken out cow and deer critters in passing), and finally got a second wool cloth to drop.
