found this crab in desolace his lvl is really 30-70? O_O i saw this crab lvl 30 hmm he spawns in molten core too then eh..dont know...but i was lvl33 (on my warrior) this crab hit me for 532 usally around 100's alot but w/e this crab is pretty tough then i thought....i almost died by it, he dropped a green that was good but not for me :(

This little guy made me smile. Its rare that my exploration ever reveals anything new to me. Yet here, in this tiny spot out in the middle of the ocean in a long forgotten Desolace... was Crusty. Thank you blizzard, to an explorer, this was a lovely find.

He's red so he should be easy enough to spot among the other crabs.

he dropped banded leggings of the boar or bear for me, i forget which. i dont think anyone knows about him cuz hes not in a spot thats gone to a lot, or however you say it. hes off the coast near ethel rethor or something and SW of the little small island closest in.

I was doing some quest underwater and saw Crusty while I were fighting against another mob, but once I finished My target, I couldnt find Crusty anymore, not even with My Track Beast skill. :(

I saw him just north of the sunken ship underwater, about 31,28. Couldn't find him again though. His patrol is pretty long; seems to go all the way around the islands around there.

Edit: Caught him again in the same area around 15 minutes later, going the opposite direction. So if you see him moving away, just hang around and he'll probably come back.

Edit again: A few minutes after killing him my internet went out. If you see him, DON'T KILL HIM, or risk unleashing the wrath of Crusty :P

the only hard part about getting this crab was the trip to desolace, once there i spent maybe 3 minutes swimming around the islands and looking for him before i found him

Just look on the thottbot map and stay in the ocean right where the pinpoint for Crusty is the whitetest. He will show up on track within 10-15 minutes.

Swimming all over the place looking for him is pointless.

u can find him near the sunken boat , i found him were it starts to dip into a crevice type dip, just wait there and he'll pass by

Dropped a nice 28 leather helm, scaled leather helm of the monkey +8 agi +7 stam, sold for 50 gold on my server, wish I would have put it up for more now...

I'v been looking for this little guy to tame as a pet for 2 days and nuthing... if some one could post his spawn rait it would be vary helpful

well i got em... and to you other hunters out ther that might want him, he dont have any of the spikes on his back or legs like his pic shows. He dont look as spiffy as i hoped he would with out them :(

my advice: look for him just after a server restart or tuesday maitenance :) he always seems to be there right after these resets, and if you go online right after the server goes back up the chance that someone has already killed him is very very slim. if you don't mind waiting until tuesday and are tired of swimming in circles trying to find him, i would just do this !

Yes...he is elusive and seems to appear when you aren't looking for him but when you look for him he is nowhere to be found.

They should rename him crusty the scarlet pimpershell. "they seek him here they seek him there, they cannot find him anywhere."

I went back for him and like the guy said 20 mins of looking....Unlike the lucky guy who he dropped the truly awesome hydrocane for....he just dropped a silly green for me which disenchanted nicely. One qustion about the hydrocane: was it bind on pickup or bind on equip? In gnomer it was BOP..which sucked bigtime. That staff lasted my engineer priest for many an underwater frolic until he made himself the geeky underwater diving helmet for engineers!

For me he was at (30, 28). He's a traveller, though, and I think he takes a meandering course between the Naga island and the sunken ship.

I ran into him while doing Claim Rackham's Treasure and Book of the Ancients with my level 32 Priest (the reward for both is stuff she can definitely use-- a wand and a Cloth bracer respectively). I was diving for Drysnaps (which drop one of the keys) and spotted him. Unfortunately I was jumped by two Drysnaps while navigating to the crab, and lost him. Later I died at the hands of a few of the Naga.

So knowing that this rare spawn was up, and it being one that I haven't seen much talk about, I took my level 62 Warrior there. Not that I was unsure of my abilities! But I knew there'd be considerable underwater searching, and he's the only one with a Hydrocane. (For the new players, that's a Staff that allows unlimited underwater breathing. It drops from an Elite in Gnomeregan.)

It took about 20 minutes of swimming to find him, and when I did, he dropped a Banded Boots of the Bear for me. All my Mail-wearing charas are way beyond that, but I'll auction it off.

I got him on my hunter a long time ago and love it. I'll be taking this pet into Wrath of the lich king! Anyone else have a crab pet for a while now?

The map shows him just west of the little island but I found him at 32,29 Right by the sunken ship. He droped a GREEN Leather chest called the dervish tunic of the owl.
