This is a great way to boost your damage cheaply, and if you know where to look the materials aren't hard to find. Goldthorn is all over the place in Stranglethorn, Arathi Highlands, Hinterlands and other zones of that level. You shouldn't have any problem finding it. Blindweed is rarer, but there's tons of it all over Swamp of Sorrows which is generally unpopulated and ripe for the picking. They also appear around the Tar Pits in the north of Un'goro.

Much more effective and cost worthy than Greater Arcane Elixirs, always use these on raids, they are cheap, easy to make and can give you that extra boost you need to kill a boss.

Elixir of Greater Firepower was changed to Spellpower in WotLK, and is available at level 40. It grants 40 Spellpower, twice as much as this elixir.

Since you can't use this until level 37, I wouldn't stock up too many — it's outmoded within 3 levels. The only advantages are:
• This is usable in pre-40 PvP brackets
• The mats for this are simpler and cheaper
• This recipe is trained, while Greater Firepower is a zone drop from Dark Irons in Searing Gorge

If I use this with Arcane missiles...
Will it add 20 dmg per shot,
or 20 damage over all shots together ?

It's 20 damage per spell cast, minus any partial resists. So missles would gain ~20 damage over the entire length of the spell

For arcane missles it would add 4dmg per shot (considering you have 5 shots). Still this potion is a good buy.

This recipe can be bought in Stonard in Swamp of Sorrow. The vendor is in the biggest house. He stands tight next to Warlock trainer.

Does this increase ALL spell damage, or just arcane? The description reads, "Increases spell damage ...". The name may be somewhat misleading. I haven't tested yet, just wondering if anyone knows for sure.

The subject *almost* says it all....
The title "Arcane Elixir" implies that it should increase arcane damage but the description just says "spell damage". I'm 90% sure this is all damage types not just arcane.

at around 1.2g a pop (on my server) vs 7g each for greater arcane elixirs, i'll be using these throughout AQ40.

No reason to spend the extra gold when i'm threat capped on a sizable fraction of boss fights anyway as a warlock.
