All about Core Hound Pups - your own personal guard dog!

This little chap is a reward for anyone who has an authenticator on their account (Blue post). He should arrive in a mail by Breanni to all your characters. You will receive a pup whether you already had an authenticator before, or if you get one even afterwards - you'll get the pup after a relog. (Thanks hondak20)

He has a few animations, here's a video wow.com linked.

One head digs a bone out of the ground, they fight over it, before the same head throws it in the air and swollows it whole

Note from the wording on the blue post ("anyone using an authenticator") if the authenticator is removed from the account the pet is no longer summonable. They remain in your pet tab, but can't be called any more until you get an authenticator on your account again. Don't buy an authenticator if all you want is the pet - you are heading for an all-or-nothing deal. (Thanks Fettliten)

Got authenticator after the patch, received pup in the mail right away. Works if you didn't already have it!

Once the pet is in your tab, should you stop using the authenticator, does it still count toward your pet achievements like "Plenty of Pets?"

Okay. So I logged on today and I had this fellow in my mailbox. I love him .... BUT my account is the same as it was yesterday. I haven't changed a thing. I have No Authenticator.

The note with the pet reads as follows:

I got this pet because I got hacked and the hacker added an Authenticator to my account.

I can confirm that this works with the Android OS authenticator for the Motorola Droid.

When summoning the pet, instead of doing the usual kneeling down, your hands erupt in flames and you use the "instant spellcast"-animation.

Obtained from getting either the authenticator key OR the free iTouch/iPhone app from iTunes..did i mention its free? Haha best companion in the game...the current authenticators sold have a core hound design and gets you the companion..ps ive always wanted this companion but didnt know how to get it. got the app today, and BAM core hound pup in the mail YES!

Never thought I would get hacked....... I don't play much with others..... don't buy gold online..... I got one whisper saying to visit or something very similar to claim my free pet..... logged in..... next day I try to log on and it asks for an authenticator code...... called blizz and got them to remove it and at the same time ordered my own authenticator code....... on a side note when I got my account back the hacker was in the middle of a raid getting me some good stuff and he didn't take my current gear...... did take my alts gold though.... oh well.... now I will actually get a pet the hacker originally told me log in to get!

u dont need to buy the authenticator if u want the pet. if u have an iphone, ipod touch or android (google) phone u can download the mobile authenticator for free and still get the pet in the mail. Blizzard FAQ

I can say, that if your account was hacked, and had the authenticator removed, this pet does go away. You still receive it in the mailbox, but you cannot summon it. I thought I had a free core hound pup for a second there...X|

i've just ordered an authenticator from the store and im currently L41 and im lvling to be a DK but it will probably come before i get my DK so will i get the pet on the DK or will i only get it on charcters that were already made when it is put on? thx

To get this pet you need to have the Blizzard Authenticator. It is $6.50 through the Blizzard store OR Free if you have a Iphone and download the App.

When you get the Authenticator then the Core Hound Pup you MUST keep the Authenticator if you REMOVE it your Core Hound Pup will be gone as well.

What does the Pup do?

1. Gets up on his hind legs and begs, yaps, howls.
2. Rolls over occasionally.
3.One head summons a bone and chews on it, while the other fights for it, then he bounces back on his hind legs, flips the bone in the air and eats it whole.
