Insane tanking weapon for a death knight! The proc will increase your threat by a lot. (Much like level 60 legendary sword) + with the huge stamina boost and expertise, probably the closest 2h weapon to tank stats! NEED!

This weapon proc does the exact same amount of damage as the lvl 60 version of it. Should have increased the damage to be a bit more substantial. At lvl 60, Thunderstrike provided a whopping 3 additional DPS. What's that now to our damage meters?

Beware feral druids, this weapon is currently heavily bugged with feral forms. It will not give the correct amount of feral AP in forms and requires switching to another weapon and back while in form to get the correct amount of AP to show on your character sheet. It also causes me to lose about 7k armor, which was temporarily fixed by logging out/back in, but lost again as soon as I switched forms/weapons. There is already a thread started about this in the bug forum on the official wow forums.

Edit: Sorry, I just confirmed my information is incorrect, this was happening to me because I had Reclaimed Thunderstrike equipped and then equipped Reclaimed Shadowstrike in a form.

Just to confirm for everyone coming to this page 1st, instead of Shadowstrike;

This is CREATED by clicking, and using the shadowstrike proc. It creates a 2nd polearm entirely. It doesn't change into it. It just gives you the 2nd one in your bag.

However you can't trade the Tank polearm. So what you need to do when the Shadowstrike drops, is have your tank lot it, USE the proc on it, to create the tank version for himself then have him trade the DPS polearm to your kitteh druids or Hunters.

You can't do it the other way round or you'll have epic tanking Hunters lol.

This weapon is most attractive to Feral Druids for tanking, but it works for Death Knights to.

Since I´m a Death Knight I believe this might be one of the best choices for Death Knights before ToC10 hc compared to Ulduar10 and ToC10 normal.
But of course if you are raiding lots of 25 mans the Ulduar25/10 hardmodes drops https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=45868 and https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=45516.
Those drops beats the Thunderstrike one with 2 sockets for some sta/dodge/parry gems but the Ulduar ones is alot more work to get (Hardmodes both of them).
Though ArP and Crit isn´t that attractive to Death Knight tanks (in my opinion, please tell me if I´m wrong.) but expertise are and some haste isn´t wrong too.

But I´m still wondering...
I got 25.84% dodge and 20.28% parry, due to the DR on parry,dodge,block (47% for parry, 88% for dodge, block irrelevant at the moment.) I get 25% of my Str by Forceful Deflection but I also get dodge from Agi.
So I wonder is https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=49301#comments the better one or should I try get https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=49299 and this one got 30 expertise more (=Threat).
Write what thoughts you got about this. =)

the procc has a really strange behaviour at times, i had it procc off casting IT making my raid go wtf?

any hunter got this and checked if it proccs off of ranged attacks too?

Actually I'm using the Shadowstrike on my druid. Agility is favored over Stamina for a Feral Tank, since it gives us Crit, and thus some blocked damage, and extra dodge, and extra armor. Plus I"m expertise capped, and the Shadowstrike adds additional crit rating, plus some ArPen for threat, and AP to increase the absorb from primal gore. This weapon is more of a DK tank weapon imo :)

The proc is chain lightning.
I haven't really tested it but so far it procs rather alot of times.
Enough to make up 1.9% of my dps as a druid tank on 3-5 minute bosses, wich in my case equals about 50 DPS.
Not bad. not bad at all I'd say!

Keep an eye out at Kologarn too. The chain lightning will also hit the other 2 body parts on proc'ing.

Question: does this weapon ALSO drop on its own from Ony? or is it *solely* created from its dps kin? Wowhead says one thing, but from what I've read and heard, this weapon does not actually drop on its own from Ony.

Just picked this up on my druid alt, and I must say that I'm not disappointed, provides a lovely chunk of feral AP as well as solid stam and agi.

Plus it's awesome watching the lightening bolt come out the middle of my bear's head =D

I have Thunderstrike on my DK tank . I looted Shadowstrike , summoned Thunderstrike and traded to a hunter the Shadowstrike - we both have one of the weapons since 2 weeks ago, no despawn since :) .
If only the hunter has the Shadowstrike he can use the summoned Thunderstrike for PvP to get some extra health at the cost of some stats.

Bugged again as of December 13th. You can right click the polearm to get Thunderstrike and then trade Shadowstrike to somebody that was saved in the raid. They fixed this in the past, but I guess 3.3 broke it again.
