This is probably a reference to Angrboda (Angrboða), from the Norse Mythology (just as the Vykrul are too). She was often saw as the "one who brings grief". She is also mother of Jormungadr (the Midgard Serpent), Fenrir (the giant wolf) and Hel (Queen of a realm in Niflheim).

There's more than one interpretation of her true self, and she doesn't appear very much in norse mythology overall history.
