In beta build 8885, every time I milled for violet pigment I got either two or three. So one stack of herbs will get you 8-12 violet pigment.

As far as leveling Inscription goes, this is the first pigment that you'll start needing considerably more of compared to previous ones. From my beta experience I'm estimating that you'll need 10-13 stacks of any mix of the following herbs:

Arthas' Tears
Blindweed
Firebloom
Ghost Mushroom
Gromsblood
Purple Lotus
Sungrass

Changed in beta build 8905. After milling those herbs 12 times, I got violet pigment roughly 75% of the time. The other 25% of the time I got ruby pigment. The new rare pigment from those herbs is now Firefly Dust. From those 12 mills, I got 2xFirefly Dust.

Despite its color being predominantly orange, the absolute best place to farm for violet pigment is in Blasted Lands. All herbs found in Blasted Lands mill into violet pigment

I like Blasted Lands too. You can get just about all of the herbs there fairly quickly, but Swamp of Sorrows is right there, so by the time you've done a circuit there the herbs in Blasted Lands should have respawned.

Here are my observations as a fresh, 58 DK leveling herb/ins. The Emerald Pigment grind was much worse than the Violent Pigment grind was. Mostly because I was in STV and my passes were either herbs I couldn't pick at first or herbs I didn't need later on. Plus STV is a populous zone, especially on a PVE server.

Violet Pigment went MUCH faster thanks to the tip for Blasted Lands here. The beautiful part about the Blasted Lands (other than it is virtually uninhabited) is that it's small. A circuit is over very quickly. I made four trips, including two "pit stops" in Swamp of Sorrows. That and the Purple Lotus I had from STV was all I needed to go from 200-250 Inscription.

If you are herbing in the Blasted Lands for Violet Pigment and are unsatisfied, it means somebody's herbing there. Even if that somebody is you. Either allow time for respawns or try again later.

Ok many have said SOS its true but top half of the screen do not waste your time on the bottom half. All im getting is blindweed which is good since i need to get to 245 scribe lol
