Given as one reward for "The Forsaken Blight" quest :- https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12221. This quest in itself is the end of the quest chain given by Chief Plaguebringer Middleton in Venomspite, Dragonblight.

Although the blade actually looks rather swish, with a very nice glow effect on to boot, it has no inherent statistical bonuses in terms of attributes. For this reason it should be considered only alongside another 1H weapon with significant attribute bonuses to offset this.

Still, nice eye candy though, and I might just hang onto it on the offchance that I come across a decent 1H weapon (suitable for a mage) in my travels. I have no doubt that there will be far better blades out there though; not being an expert perhaps someone will be kind enough to post some examples for you.

I couldn't link this item (to guild, in a whisper, nowhere) from quest reward choices nor once it was in inventory. No idea if it was a one time bug that evening or a persistent "feature" of the item. Was scared to equip it, half fearing some bug would make my character explode.
