This can also be done in a raid.

Unfortunately, you can only visit the instance 5 times per hour regardless of how many people you bring, so that means less loot for everyone.

As the poster they are not DEable, but also they are NOT possible to sell to vendor so actually there is no need to greed if you don't need it.

I've killed him 20 times. I've got this ring 4 times, the pumpkin mask twice, and caster rings every other time. So like...20% drop chance for me.

To make this post useful, I'll post the macro I'm using. For the longest time I had to look around to find the head after it fell off, then I started using this macro
/target Head of the Horseman
Pretty simple, but it makes it a whole lot easier.

This is an extremely simple ring to get with almost any party of 70s.

1. Go to Scarlet Monastery Graveyard (note: there is no need to have a quest or get a quest first).

2. Kill all of the ghosts and ghouls around the crypt with the big pumpkin sitting in front of it.

3. One party member clicks on the pumpkin, gets a candle. He then clicks on the pile of dirt behind the pumpkin.

4. The horseman will land in the graveyard to the right of the small crypt. His initial agro will be on whoever used the candle.

Horseman fight:

Phase 1: Tank and spank down to 0%. At 0%, the head splits off and the body becomes undamageable and untauntable, though it still whirlwinds. Avoid it, find the head and DPS the head.

Phase 2: When the head takes enough damage, it will return to the body, which will go back to 100% health. Tank and spank again. During this phase, the horseman will randomly place a debuff on a party member other than the player with top agro which will cause some fire damage, and more importantly will cause a disorient like effect and cause that player to do damage to any other characters he is near. If this gets on melee DPS and the tank doesn't move the horseman, it could cause a wipe. The head will come off again at 0% just as in phase 1.

Phase 3: No more fire. The horseman will toss out about 6adds who will sit on the ground as pumpkins briefly, then sprout and go beat the healer to death. They should be thunderclaped or consecrated back onto the tank. DPS should stay on the huntsman, then switch to his head to finish the fight, as bringing the head to 0% this time will end the encounter and all the adds will die.

This is an extremely easy encounter which most reasonably skilled 70s even in greens should be able to do without much trouble. That said, you do need a real tank to hold the horseman, he will hit for about 4000 on cloth.

I could see a wipe happening if the adds get to the healer in phase 3. Other than that it's pretty unlikely.

It counts as a daily quest, and each party member can only start the encounter once per day. In addition, in the unlikely event that you do not kill the huntsman, you don't get a second activation.

There seems to be a bug which will occasionally allow players who have already done the encounter to get a second candle and do it again in the same day after changing parties. It has happened once to me.

Each of the rings appears to have about a 20% drop rate, though the AP ring has dropped far less than the other two in my experience. The helm and the pet are definitely a much lower drop rate, 5 or 10%

The rings cannot be DEed and have no sale value.

In every encounter I've run, one of the 4 brooms has dropped in addition to other loot (1 slow ground, 1 fast ground, 1 slow flying, 1 fast flying). I haven't detected any difference in drop rate. They are Bind on Use and can be transferred, but they can't be listed on the AH.

Finally, everyone in the party will get piles of candy which give a short minor runspeed increase, and the body generally gives 3-5 weighted pumpkin heads which allow you to either make your character or another character look like he or she has a Jack-O-Lantern head.

Just a thought, but this ring might be a reference to "The Haunted Mansion" ride at Disneyland.

At the beginning of the ride, the "Ghost Host" says:

If you missed your chance to get this ring (or, if you like it so much that you want 2), a ring with the exact same stats drops from the final boss of Heroic underbog.

Just got this ring today. It's Alright, but there are much better options out there. Plus, this ring is exactly the same as the " Eye of the Stalker " ring from Underbog. This is a good pre-raid ring.

nice PvP ring for a hunter. Sucks that it doesn't have agility or crit rating on it, though.

and the more than likely the name references the opening spiel from The Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland:

Took me about 10 tries to get this ring. First time it dropped lost on the roll. Those caster rings drop like crazy, our priest got both in 2 tries. I feel bad for ppl trying to get the plate helm tho. I've never seen it drop after about 20 runs trying to get it for a friend.

got this last night as a 60 pally....yup, 60. The event can be raided, so I asked around and a nice group of 5 took the dare to switch to raid and this dropped on one of the runs....everyone else had one that cared, so I got the extra.

BTW, at 60, I could attack the horseman, judge him, hammer of wrath etc. just fine, no resists. Mostly just along as a backup healer (needed me too when the only other healer got conflaged by a pumpkin bomb or two, and a handy shield on the priest when the plants mobbed her was likely appreciated as well :).

My guildie also tagged along as a 60 rogue, and he could do full attacks on the horseman as well. Even got some of the highest crits he has ever landed on him (over 2K). The lvl 70 portion of the fight seems to have been restructured....the normal miss/parry/resist etc. for level disparity seems not to have been worked into the equation for the fight, so feel free to bring lower friends along for the extra rings! (my rogue friend got one of the 'extra' att. power rings, so he was stoked as well)

i got this ring on the first run and needed because i was only melee dps in te group (there was a hunter but he passed it up). and ive got to say i don't see myself using it any time soon. I am a fury warrior with Slayer's Mark of the Redemption and compared to that i have its only got 10 more ap and using it would replace my blue ring's +15 agility and 10 Hit-rating. also the stamina it gives is useless to PvE based fury warriors (VERY little pvp based fury warriors around) and can be replaced with the stam in Violet Signet of the Master Assassin. so i think i'll stick with my Slayer's Mark of the Redemption and keeped this stashed in my bank just in case. My advice to Fury warriors: take it if no one else even remotely wants it just in case u might need it someday, but if anyone even looks at it for a second do the right thing and give it to them, theres still more time to get another one and im sure that other guy will be happy. I got this ring on first run. Grouped with epicced out lock rogue priest and mage. Hard to tank him with heavy dps like that but managed and picked it up as they didn't want. Helm was another story....

Im holy palay and have this :S evry one passed (cos you cant roll is have it and both war MT and rogue had it) so i got it when i looted my pumkin head things which i love so much.

But my question is we had a rogue who rly wanted it and all 5 didnt do it that day so 5 runs on 3rd run it dropped he was so excited but.. then shammy wanted it to (dont use a shammy personnaly so i aint got a clue what it means but she was elementle :S) anyway so she askt to roll need like him now striaght away he started complaining but after his one sentence message she needed and won. He then left group being the decided 5th run guy (one lost run /cry) and then started using /1 to say to all HH runers she is a ninja.

Was he right? cos i dont rly know about dps shammy's and rogues only got one char to lv70 this one (lv30mage and lv37hunter too but thats not the point)

So...I got this the first try on my paladin. Might save it for my ret set.

This event is pure awesome...it's literally free epics. We managed to 4 man this a couple of time...and at one point the event was bugged as me and the 3 other members were able to summon him TWICE each.

There is one more day til this event goes away; I reccomend every level 70 go out and do this before it disappears. We did it for about an hour and I got all the rings and brooms...unfortunately, plate helm never dropped.

Is this quest still available, and if so how can I obtain it? Someone said that I need to do Heroic, but when I go to SM, it' not an option.
