Just condensing some facts here, as much for my benefit as I farm this item as hopefully yours.

6 Heavy Knothide Leather
~At 5 Knothide Leather per Heavy, 30 Knothide Leather is going to be required.

20 Primal Life (Ouch)
~This is equivalent to 200 Motes of Life. Best farmed in Northeast Zangarmarsh.

8 Primal Water
~Equivalent to 80 Motes of Water. Can be farmed from naga all around Zangarmarsh and from Eels in Terokkar Forest north of Shattrath. Note: Primal Shadow can be transmuted to Primal Water by Alchemists.

1 Primal Nether
~BOP item (the creator of the headpiece must have acquired this) dropped by bosses in high-end instances.

I don't really think these mats are bad at all, i mean, life is possibly the easiest primal to obtain (prefer to farm it at Quagg Ridge, Southwestern Zangarmarsh). And when u've farmed for some time u only need the leather (ez) and a primal from the creator. The only hard thing about the creation of this one is the primal nether needed from the creator.

Going for it myself, really a nice upgrade of the cloth headpiece from revered with Cenarion Expedition

Druid resto tier 4 is far superior to this. I have royal nightseye (9 heal 2 mp5) and 12 int +restore mana on spell cast meta gem (easier to meet requirements than 26 healing one, and overall the mp5 > 26 heal).

Basically you give up 10 spirit for 10 mp5 (with my gems). I rate 4 spirit = 1 mp5, so you can see that T4 destroys this thing.

Not to argue that the t4 helm is better than this, because I am sure it is....the gems you have in it are all wrong. Why restoration druids think that they should take mp5's over Spirit is beyond me. Have you ever bothered to look at your talents or your Tree of Life Aura or your Innervate Spell? I am a new Restoration Druid (Feral by heart and that is where all my epics reside), but our other Guild Restoration Druid, with 1 Innervate, because of his Spirit, gains more than 100% of his mana back (Meaning you can still cast spells while it is on you). Spirit is a Restoration Druid's primary stat, just like a Restoration Shaman's should be Intellect (and they take mp5's over Spirit because it is more beneficial to them).

For gems for Restoration Druids (I love that meta gem that you had showed), you should use gems like +9 healing and +4 spirit, or if necessary, +18 healing or +9 healing +4 intel (im not sure if it is +4, but it is something around there).

actually, this thing is not that awesome at all :/

compared to the moonglade cowl, which is far easier to get ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=28348 ). just stick a royal nightseye (+9 healing, +2 mp5) and the +12 int and chance to restore mana on spellcast, you end up with this compare:

-16 Stamina
+-0 Intellect
-14 Spirit
-6 Healing
+2 mp5
+ an awesome meta effect

the -14 spirit,... well it's a loss for trees, but apart from that, the +2mp5 and the meta effect can cope with that loss.
AND if you want the 35 dodge for your rejuv from the moonglade setbonus, you'd better keep the moonglade one anyway untill you get the tier 4 ;)

Ok, so this looks to be the best leather piece before tier gear for a resto druid....would there be anything thats superior if you go for a cloth headgear? whitemend for example

as of 2.3 the gladiator's kodohide helm is available for honour. https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=31376 and its a very good alternative to this one. Also can save you anywhere from 600-1000g.

In the time it takes to get 14,000 or so Honor you need for the helm you just linked, you could very very easily have farmed 20 Primal Lifes and 8 primal waters. You are looking at around 3.5 hours for the Lifes, probably less than 2 hours for the Water. So 5.5 hours of farming (Plus 70ish gold for the nether and ~20g for the leather, then factor in the amount of gold you get from grinding on Bog Lords...), but 14,000 honor will take about 14 hours assuming 1k honor/hour. The costs can really be cut down if you can supply your own Nether (thank you 2.4). And, on top of that, you are much better off with the spirit in a PvE setting than the MP5 on the Gladiator's Helm.

And while it is somewhat fair to compare this to T4, to say that you shouldn't get this because you could get the T4 is silly. This is guaranteed, and not hard to get. If you are in a new guild, then showing some incentive makes you look better, and until you get the T4 you might as well have the best gear you can get.

If you can get this recipe for cheap (I found one for 12g somehow), get it as the mats aren't too bad to farm or buy. However it's probably not worth shelling out the big bucks for this recipe, especially now that the S2 helm is out. And as someone said earlier, there are blue helms that aren't too far from this in quality.

IMO the Moonglade Cowl is better seeing as you can put a +9healing and 2mp per 5 along with a +26 healing and -2% to threat gems..... a lot more to +healing overall

If you have the mats on you and I manage to get another primal nether i will combine for you for a fee of 400G plus the other mats. In the future i may already have them made and will take all mats and 400G or for a flat fee of 900G.You may also get a group of 4 together for a Heroic Instance and let me have the Primal Nether that drops and give me the rest of the mats. Acually, I have to disagree with you there. Compare this to the healing Malorne T4 helm and you'll be suprised to see the stats on this are superior. Although the T4 does have a red and meta slot, I think this one is absolutely worth having, especially since most guilds are gearing up thier tanks before opening the token to druids.

Watcher's Cowl is 79 healing not 97. Also it's a cloth item.

Hood of Primal Life has more armor, stamina, intellect, and spirit. Perfect for my druid.

For some Watchers cowl might be better, like priests. For some HoPL is much better and worth the mats.

Is this really worth getting at 70?

Im thinking of going resto and getting these once i hit 70 but it seems very costly.

Maybe there's other stuff that may be easier to get and doesnt cost as much?

But imo these are really nice.

Next patch 2.3 it looks like this item will also change by adding by 23+ for all magical spells and effects as well as +68 healing and effects.
