while caster DDs may compare this gem to the +dmg one, I am a holy pala, and my healer pants happen to have a yellow slot.

possible gems:
this +8spellcrit
4int+2mp5
and
9heal 4int
having enough int and mp5, i will take this one.

Just a small note, holy paladins are the only healing class that should be geming for spell crit.

Holy paladins do not gem for spell crit because its nice to have a critical heal a lot of damage, its because https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=20215 is their main source of mana.
So a crit heal = mana returned which gives them their amazing mana efficiency.

This is the best rare quality gem for Elemental Shamans. If you don't care about socketing bonuses and put this gem in every socket you got, you'll be happy for a long time :)

I had this recipe drop for me off a random mob in Shadowmoon Valley. Put it on the AH for 400 gold and it sold almost as soon as I posted it, so I'm thinking that it could sell for even more than that.

unless you are a build that benefits very very heavily from crits, you are probably better off for dps focusing on building +dmg rather than +crit.
