Wow, I was so lucky, I got this on first kill on my Rogue.

Pretty rare drop though, if I do recall. Looks to have a 3.1% drop though, GL farming for it. I advise you do

Bloodscalp Ears: https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=189
and
Bloody Bone Necklaces: https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=596

at the same time while doing this so that it isn't constantly on your mind while farming for it

The real problem isn't the low drop rate. The REAL grief here is how few shaman there are actually spawned to farm this stupid drop...

I've been grinding shamans for about half an hour now, and still no drop.

Indeed, the totem drops seem to be more frequent on the lower ruins. Could be superstition, could be not.

I had problems finding shamans - found mystics, witchdoctors, scouts, hunters etc etc - just no shamans

Finally found one - they're easy to spot - they have a shiny whirly thing circling around them.

So I killed it, and the totem dropped first go.

Didn't got it yesterday after (randomly, not to find this object) killing about 10 of them. Now it dropped on my first kill. What are the odds? :P

Btw: drop rates on thott also include kills by people that don't have the quest and thus never get the item.

If one person kills 2 and get's it it's a 50% drop rate. If one person goes and kill another 18 of them, it suddenly is 5%. :)

Killed about 30 of them and no drop. :) But i collecting tusks and necklances as well so maybe while i collecting the necklances one of em is gonna drop it.
