This item had limited potential before the new talents were introduced, but now it is a poweful combination with a felguard, great for pvp, or getting you out of a tight situation in pve.

This to got a nerf, instead of increasing to 100% it now has base stats.
The use is :

Use: Empowers your pet, increasing its spell damage by 200, its attack power by 325, and its armor by 1600 for 30 sec. This spell will only affect an Imp, Succubus, Voidwalker, Felhunter, or Felguard. (Cooldown: 5 minutes)

The changes to the Black Book have not been applied yet, the item pictured above is the expansion version. Currently it gives a 100% pet damage increase and a 100% armor increase.

I have tested and confirmed this, December 17th 2006.

Just looking at this item again, it isn't too bad for grinding, even at level 70.

In order to get 1600 armor given to your pet, the master would need 16,000 armor! For 325 attack power, you would need 527 spell damage!

However very situational, it would be just for solo grinding and then swapped out. Personally I would not bother doing that though.

I love this trinket.
We went farming for it at lvl 63-64 (still required people to pay attention), and finally it dropped for me one night.

I use it constantly, and frankly dont think i'll ever replace it. Of course this depends on your spec and how you play, but as a demonology spec'd lock i love this.

You know how many adds you can handle, it differs per lock per spec and per situation, but i'm handling 2-3 quite easily and 5 doesn't make me use pots. That said, every now and then a bad pull or a patrol happens an i'm faced with more mobs than i wanted. This happens more and more when you move to the higher lvl famring areas. All i do, is Use this trinket, let the Felguard get agro with some massive Cleaves (his taunt is a spell btw and is more effective with +spelldmg) and then go SoC nuts.

It's also a great tinket for when your pet tanks. I'm on a recommended server and sometimes finding healers/tanks can be a total git. With the help of this trinket and the lvl 60 reduce threat trinket (my health funnel causes thereat) and of course other skilled players, my pet tanks basic thins quite well. Heroic ramparts is the best example. Where by swapping gear relative to each fight, popping this trinket allows my pet to gain initial agro really nicely before anyone has to dps/heal.

While many may turn their nose up at this trinket, let me put it this way...

What's the TBC equivalent that overpowers it?

In the glory days of this trinket, it doubled pet damage. An imp with improved firebolt could tear it up. The nerf is unfortunate, and you're not likely to see this much anymore since it's in a pre-BC raid dungeon.

its really impresive what your IMP can do (my imp crits for 1600) with demonic empowerment and 2900 SP if i had this on it would be nice! i can see my im hitting for 2k specially when glyph of the imp is 20%.
i got to say i always though FG was the best summonable demon of a lock but i was mistaken...
my imp's DPS is 670 (with 3 TP on imp and no imp glyph)
my FG DPS is 694 (with no VW TP and 20% FG glypth)

well if u are not in a need of a tank for when u solo or not chiken chasing a mounted horde in WG need intersep to stop him with FG intersept then DOT (which by the way its priceless to unmount ur self and FG intersept 4u) Metamorphosis use ur intersept immulation fear and run with him burnign him haha!, Felguard is indeed supreme in CC if u know how to use it. other than that IMP is ur best choice increases ur fire pow/crit and the 1700+ HP+ fire shield/fire resistance is just loveable!

This works GREAT with the felguard.
Got a 1200crit and a 1400cleave crit in under 1 sec on the ptr.

Well, when I got this I was SM/Ruin, and respecced to full demonology with all pets improved.
So, basically I used it for grinding in Tyr's, by altering this by ZHC, and did quite allright. Though, imo, it's _only_ good for improving your grinding. The only real other use I've found for it is tanking Drakki's left add. And I don't do that alot. (Don't really know how it comes that i've tanked the left add 10+ times but never the right.)

So, it's a fun thingy to try out stuff with. But as I experienced it, it didn't alter my playstyle as much as I thought it would.

I do like it though :)

Is it me or does blizzard really think that all warlocks are demonology? First this last patch that did NOTHING for affliction or Destruction, then this crap? This thing is useless for those of us warlocks that like to do instances...

also if you didn't notice, the mage one increases casting time by 25% for 25 seconds(?)

Not only that but Warriors get the trinket for 15% heal basically, ya know something thats usefull in any given situation.

Ours, usefull in LIMITED situations. That's it, throwing in the towerl forever on my warlock. Warriors 10x more fun anyway

I got one, mainly for Voidwalker tanking.

3/3 improved Voidy and 10k armour. He should be able to tank level 60 elites quite happily if we get adds in an instance.

today i did this...it dropped i didnt bid on it (lvl 60 destruction+affliction warlock) it WILL be nerfed in BC so............its completely useless and even thru 12 other locks bid on this i congratulate mr.soulinklock for winning this crap

i think this trinket is AWESOME in pvp!

why? take a look at this:

a fully skilled imp can do 4400 dmg in 18 seconds with this (then he is oom)
talents needed: fel intellect 5 pts., imrpoved imp 3 pts., improved firebolt 2 pts.

he then has (unbuffed) 2070 mana and one firebolt rank 7 costs 115 and does an average dmg of 117 with a casting time of 1 second.
-> 18 bolts inflicting ~ 2200 dmg. the trinket doubles the effect = 4400. and remember this goes for an unbuffed imp and without crits.

a fully skilled sukkubus can inflict ~ 6000 dmg in 30 seconds.
talents needed: improved sukkubus 3pts., improved lash of pain2 pts., master demonologist 5 pts.

she now has 78 dps and her LoP inflicts ~ 130 dmg every 6 seconds.
-> 5 LoP in 30 seconds for 130 dmg each -> 650 dmg + 2340 meleedamage (without considering armor value) = 2990 dmg. the trinket doulbles the effect ~ 6000 dmg in 30 seconds. so the sukkubus finally gets interesting against other cloth-classes and the imp kills all others.
sounds nice to me ^^

All of our locks think its a POS, and wont use it. Not sure why though, as its just like Beastial Wrath in the hunter tree, only its 100% damage (not 50%) and they arnt immune to fear.

Having a succubus creep up on you, and do double damage..... damn, my rogue gets destroyed by them anyway. Think 300+ crits from your $%^&ty succubuss. Get some Curse of Elements on the target, and your succy succy will rape people alive.

If i ever got my lock to 60, this is one thing at the top of my list.

Got this baby yesterday, and as "allotherusernamesalreadyexist" stated, it rocks in pvp! I got improved imp (1 sec casting time on firebolt) and it gives my imp a dps of 181 when I use this trinket (and that is without crits) :D Pretty nice... also got the Nemesis bracers yesterday, but that is another matter ;)

EDIT:

It's also very good in PVE with Voidwalker, since VW will get 10k armor when using this! My VW can easily tank 3-4 lvl 57 mobs while I take them out one at a time, when using the trinket.

Picked this up by not paying attention and was master looted to me back in vanilla. Big joke in raid. Later when they added the BC patch speculation on felguard synergy was brought in. Good times.
