What I'm thinking about is in AV. When they are fighting the WMs
and/or Drek or Van. Just get close enough and nuke the healers which usually stand in a group. The mana burn and damage is bad enough but I'd take this just for the silence effect alone. IMO it would cause an instant wipe as the tanks die in the 5 seconds. Then the WMs or Drek or Van would be free to wreak havok on the unprotected squishies roaming around doing DPS or w/e. Just my 2 cents but i believe this could turn the course of a hard fought AV.

Finally! Got this baby today from Azuregos... easy soloable by VoidLock (long fight :( ).. But i doubt any non pet class can solo him... he got an aoe that freezes and drains mana...

Luckily for me it dropped on second attempt of dragon deaths.... and now it's time for you... Lifelike Mechanical Toad.. u'll be mine!

Been checking the AH for months more or less daily, haven't seen one. This is one of the rarest schematics in the game, along with Schematic: Craftsman's Monocle. Unlike, say, Spellpower Goggles Xtreme this isn't trainable. If you're collecting engineering schematics like I am expect to wait a very long time and pay very large for them. Alternatively, you can try to solo Azuregos, or gather a small group for the world dragons, which both have an increased chance to drop these rare schematics.

Either way, this will roadblock you for a very long time unless you're absurdly lucky.

Do not be fooled by the average buyout price of 5g listed by Wowhead.

I sold this for 700g within 12 hours of posting it. It is still a coveted schematic, apparently.

Also, it only costs a few silver deposit to list it on AH so you aren't losing anything by at least trying to post it for a high cost. To someone it will probably be worth the G.

Been killing Azuregos this past 2 weeks and this dropped on my 3rd kill. I was pleased to just get 180g for 6-7 minutes work, but I read the comments here, put the Schematic on the auction house at 750g bid / 1500g BO and within hours it was bought outright.

Who knew killing old outdoor bosses could be so beneficial. This makes me want to farm them even more now.

Yep, and the price will only continue to go up as more and more people realize the potential of this item in Cataclysm, until Blizzard nerfs it. You cannot use grenades and bombs in Arenas, but you can in BGs. So unless Blizzard locks bombs out of rated BGs (which based on their power, especially this one, will be within a month of its release) this bomb is going to be crazy.
Note that there isnt a thing saying the silence is ineffective against high level characters, so you're gonna have this on whole teams to silence healers, and while the mats seem expensive, they're not really. Arcanite Crystals sell for 2g atm, and anyone paying 1k for the pattern has likely stockpiled arcanite for these. ~3-4g a bomb is nothing when 1 bomb will lead to a flag carrier kill and subsequent capture in a rated game.

They Scale 1:1 On Spell Power, Also works on Anubs adds, LDWhisper adds, Valithras frost adds heroic and norm, Lich kings adds the ones that enrage every so often, And many other bosses that dont matter like thorims adds, or freyas etc etc

Update: 3.3.5 It still scales 1:1 with spell power it hit for 6k on a holy pally

I suggest you guys farm this recipe soon, come cata any and all of the dragons who drop this are being removed and the only ones left are taera and ysondre, who ysondre has you kill and their level 40. Farm now you'll regret it if you dont.

I found this on an Ogre in Deadwind pass. Seems to be a random world drop. I don't care if it does take an arcanite bar haha I have nothing better to do w/ my money anymore so hot damn. Look out casters.

These are going to be for 20+ person raids. The first scenario I can think of is a Zul'Garub raid. The bosses really need to have their mana drained, or you have a tough (impossible?) time beating them. And the hunter's sting doesn't always do the trick!

You're bound to have 2-4 level 300 engineers in a 20-person raid. That stupid bat lady wouldn't know what hit her if 4 engineers all dropped successive arcane bombs on her head! That's about 2400 mana gone, and 1200 damage off the bat. And it silences, too. So space them out properly and she's TOAST.

Standing on the ledge guarding the lumber mill in AB had an immolation trap top middle and threw one down on 2 Orc Hunters and 3 Shaman. Ran back to the flag, they got pissed and charged up over the rise - all hit the trap, volley'd them at the same time and they were really hurting whem our mage blink'd in Frost Nova'd and ran past. 5 on 3 and we slaughtered them. Point in all this - the bomb rocks and Alliance actually can work together! (surprise)

got 1 from a lockbox... im engi so i was happy for a moment... after that i realised that the thing is very useless compated to the requied items.
Have a lots of money and even a lot of arc bars but that i will never make 1 thats for sure!

Well Mages dont always fit to be engineers (cant use guns or non-cloth items like Force Reactive Disc and Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt), but this bomb is like it was made for Mage-affection both ways! If you throw a bomb at a Mage he's pretty dead with all his mana drained and if you're a Mage yourself you'll boost up pretty good with new mana in a battle. But ofc, most expensive bomb I've seen...

Well, not all of us are warlocks...

As a Warrior, I'd absolutely love to carry around a couple...
... dozen...
... bags...
... of them, so I can stick it to those spellcasters that depend oh-so-much on their precious Mana. And the silencing effect? Magi, Warlocks... both would be little more than Marshmallow Peeps for 5 blissful seconds. Epic. As for the AoE?

I actually just bought the schematic off the AH for 100G, seemed like a bargain to said 200G post here. But neways I can see if you werent a miner that these could be come expensive to create. Well im a miner and plan on gathering my own mats but either way its -mana drain, im a dps warrior and this should be handy if not leathal against mana dependent mages. Well - hope so- >:)

I have tested these arcane bombs, they have no effect on friendly units. so if u are getting this to kill non-flagged peoples' bank alts or bank alts in general. Arcane bombs can not effect them.

Also they look like an arcane explosion -mage ability- when they are used. cant move when casting them.

These are no longer that expensive to make since the cooldown for arcanite bars have been removed. I'd expect the price of the schematic to go up though as this item is now useful.
