Pretty much the best pre 20+ man raid tank helmet in the game provided the stars align and you get that resist you want.

I was wondering what flavors this comes in? Is it just resistances, or can it be of the bear, etc or stam, str, etc? I have this on my list of wants for right now.

I just got mine in UBRS off the second boss and it has +15 FR. If u can be so lucky to get that enchant it makes a nice MC helm. More armor, stam, and +def then Golem Skull Helm.

Thats why the +def on all tanking items got gimped in the last patch. wtg

Now I've got to farm 4 of these. :(

I ran through UBRS 10 times to get my drac deflector, now I have to farm 1 for each type of boss I regularly tank.

Compared to my Golem Skull Helm, this is an upgrade for . . .

Luci (shadow damage resist for that curse if the dispellers slack)
Magmadar (need the def, FR not required enough to throw on DI head)
Shazzrah (Yay for arcane explosion!)

I'm gonna be spending a lot of time in UBRS now. (Painweaver, Emberfury, and various gyth's skulls are all I need then I can swear the place off)

never seen it drop nor have I seen anyone on my server with it
I have even seen the chromatic carapace drop but not this...

I have seen a few of these helms around with NO resistance enchantment on them. I think these are the ones that people had pre-patch and then got upgraded. Anyway, ANY one of these helms no matter what resistance, is an upgrade to golem skull helm. Been trying to get a golem skull helm for a while, then one of these dropped on my first ubrs post-patch and i got it with nature resist. Screw BRD! no more!

Got the version of this with frost resistance today - definite upgrade from what I had, so I'm happy with it. I'll see if I can snag the nature or fire resist ones for future use in MC or AQ, but this will serve me well no matter what resist it has.

Got it on 3rd run. I didn't even know Gyth drop this and was doing ubrs for drakk's shield. +15FR version and very sweet...

I'm an idiot.

I saw this drop (+15FR), and let a pally have it. Due to the "1 need 1 set need" policy, established by the jerk-off leader, I was hoping to save my non-set need. I had Drac Deflector on my mind (which I ended up getting about TWENTY RUNS LATER!).

So, still after all these runs, I've yet to see this helm drop at ALL. It's always the damn mail coif. =(

I got it some days ago... with frost resistance (yes, wrong fr).. :S really hoping for the fire resistance

This helm, is very nice i got one with fire resist and i don't have to deal with idiots chargewing 200g for a dark iron helm... a little less fire resist than dark iron but in my opinion as a tank the defense makes up for it

I got this helm a while back (before the patch) while it was still green and had 600+ armour or something. So when I got the patch it changed to the superior version, but with no mods! Its just called 'Gyths Skull' with 509 armour,20 stam and the +9 def, but no res. Just wondering has anyone else had this problem? cos as far as I know Im the first tp have it 0_o

very nice helm by the way but Im still looking to upgrade it to Valor Helm :D

I just got this on my paladin... It's a damm fine piece of Main Tank armor for AQ40 bosses... shame our guild Main Tank was there on his alt instead of his main >.<

Also the Fire Resistance variant with a 20FR libram on it would be well imbah as tanking gear for Molten Core / Blackwing lair... imo this is a blue item with as good as epic stats. There's a lot of epikz out there that deserve the purple name less then this helmet.

How many points are the resists worth? e.g 10 fr or 15 fr e.t.c

I had "Skull of Gyth" before the patch, and when I logged on the other day it had turned into "Gyth's Skull," with less armor, 20 stam, 9 defense and no resistance. Kinda sucks, still an upgrade though I guess.

Considering the only NR helm available to warriors atm is out of Mauradon, getting one of these is a must for anyone making shots at emerald dragons and AQ

Got Frost and Fire resist already (btw i crafted my dark iron helm after the patch =\ ) and still looking for other resists while i dont have enough luck to get my damn carapace (77th run and still w/o ANY drop....).
