You probably can get to Revered by doing only dailies since the Exalted rewards are awesome. So you should do 5-mans if you can't get a raid.

I'm interested in doing the daily quests for the rewards (not least of which are the Badges of Justice), however I don't quite understand how they will be affected by the World Event - Opening of Sunwell Plateau. Will this be like Ahn Qiraj, where once the gates were open, the quests ceased to exist? Or will the daily repeatable reputation quests be available always??

The Shattered Sun Offensive is the final push by the forces loyal to the Naaru to take Kael'thas and stop him from summoning KilJaeden into Azeroth. I'll answer some of the questions here, based on my PTR experiences.

Q. Where are they?
A. The SSO are based on the Isle of Quel'Danas, which is the northernmost point in the Eastern Kingdoms. To get there you can fly from Silvermoon City for the Horde or Ironforge for the Alliance (or so I've been told, I don't play Alliance). After a certain number of daily quests have been completed, a portal in Shattrath to the Shattered Sun Staging Area will open up. It's located in the center of town in a previously empty alcove.

Q. Where is the new 5-man (SW5), and how do I enter it on Heroic if there's no key at the vendor?
A. Magister's Terrace is located just North East of the Shattered Sun Staging Area. There is no heroic key for this instance. Pick up the quest 'Crisis at the Sunwell' for the Aldor or 'Duty Calls' for the Scryers on their respective tiers in Shattrath. Follow those quest chains into normal SW5, complete them, and you'll be attuned for heroic mode.

Q. What is this I hear about 'unlocking' content?
A. Many of the daily quests are tied to events on the Isle of Quel Danas. The SSO willl build new buildings and spawn new vendors and quest givers when a certain number of quests have been completed. For example, the quest Reclaiming the Sun's Reach Armory is required for the SSO to rebuild the Armory and spawn Smith Hathuaa, the Badge of Justice Vendor. Right under A'dal in Shattrath you can see a 3D map of the SSO town and how much progress your server has made.

If a particular daily quest is involved in unlocking content, the quest giver in his gossip text will say 'We are x% of the way towards reaching our goal.'

I think quests causing world events is a very cool feature, and I hope blizzard uses this mechanic again. Now we can feel like our actions have some impact on the world, instead of killing mobs to save a town only to have the town come under peril again the next time a player arrives. It also gives the entire server a reason to work together and encourage one another to achieve an objective.

Q. What is this I hear about unlocking the raid bosses in Sunwell Plateau?
A. Sunwell Plateau does not need to be unlocked by quests anymore. This is not a feature on the live game. In an earlier build of the PTR, there was a quest called Essence of the Immortals which requied raid guilds on the realm to turn in drops from 25 man bosses to open three gates on SWP. This quest has been removed, and now the three gates will open at certain time intervals that are the same on all realms.

Q. How do I increase my reputation?
A. You gain rep by completing daily quests and running The Magister's Terrace in normal and heroic difficulty. The Sunwell Plateau raid instance does not give reputation with this faction. Most of the daily quests are based on the Isle of Quel'Danas, though some begin in Shattrath and send you to Netherstorm, Blades Edge Mountains, or the Throne of Kiljaeden above Hellfire Penninsula.

Q. Which quests give reputation?
A. When 2.4 goes live, you can click the 'Quests' tab on this page to see that. There are quests available in the center of Shattrath, in Shattrath near the flight master, and on Quel Danas.

Q. After content is unlocked, are the associated quests still available?
A. Yes. After any content is unlocked, the associated quests change their names, but the rewards and objectives remain the same.

Q. Where do I buy the rewards and new badge gear?
Most rewards are purchased from Eldara Dawnrunner. No quests are needed to unlock her. She's in the first buidling in the Shattered Sun Staging Area.
Badge rewards are purchased from Smith Hathuaa, but only after the Armory is unlocked and her anvil is rebuilt.
The many MH/BT Jewelcrafting recipes are purchased from another NPC who is unlocked later in the process, but I forget her name.

Q. What are Shattered Sun Supplies?
A. Many daily quests give Shattered Sun Supplies bags as rewards. These chests open and usually contain a random green item but can rarely contain a Badge of Justice.

Q. Where do I buy Season 4 gear?
A. Patch 2.4 and the SSO have absolutely nothing to do with arena season 4! Season 4 was not announced with patch 2.4 at any time! Stop asking this!

Once you are Exalted with SSO, the guards around the Isle will randomly greet you with phrases. It's pretty fun.

By the way I'd like to confirm the earliest possible Jewelcrafting recipes you can get are at revered and that is about it, you can't get anymore at exalted and you can only get 12 recipes which vary from gems from an Ancient Mineral vein and rare and meta gems. Althought we haven't completed all the phases yet on our realm I'm going to update it as more recipes may be given throughout each phase.

If you are doing the daily quests to get to exalted, they all will give you 250 rep. So the number of quests for each tier is:

Neutral - Friendly (3000 rep): 12 Dailies
Friendly - Honored (6000 rep): 24 Dailies
Honored - Revered (12000 rep): 48 Dailies
Revered - Exalted (21000 rep): 84 Dailies

= 168 Dailies to get to Exalted

With an epic flyer, you can get 6+ SSO dailies done in about an hour, which gets you 4-5 Shattered Sun Supplies (chance for a Badge of Justice) and some decent gold rewarded. At that rate, it'll take about a month of doing the dailies.

If you're casual, the time spent is minimal and the rewards are very good. 168 Daily quests will net you 2500-3000+ gold (quest rewards + vendor greens), ~17 Badges of Justice, and your exalted SSO rewards.

Blue spell haste gems will be added to the patch 2.4.2 on the Gem vendor. So your server still need to finish Phase 4 to get access to it.

Quick Dawnstone, Reckless Noble Topaz, Forceful Talasite are now all available at the Quel’danas gem vendor.

Once your server has reached the Alchemy Lab portion of the event, there are 19 Dailies available for SSO. (18 if you do not have a gathering profession). There are 11 Dailies on Quel'Danas island, worth a total of 2350 repuation per day, and in Outland, there are 8 Dailies, worth a total of 2200 reputation per day.

All told, if you do all Shattered Sun dailies every day, it will take you approximately 10 days to reach Exalted (more if you do not complete the gathering quest every day, less if you run Magisters' Terrace regularly).

You will also earn approximately 1950 gold from quest rewards alone, not counting drops or the contents of Shattered Sun Supplies.

From what I have seen it took the PTR two days to complete the first phase, so it might take other servers a little longer.

Phase One
Phase One is the initial state of the island. The objective for this phase is to reclaim Sun's Reach Sanctum. Once this is complete a Trade Supplies vendor will spawn as well as two more quest givers.

After this phase is complete there is another quest opened in Shattrath City to build a portal to the island.

Phase Two
This phase is to retake the Sun's Reach Armory. Once the Armory is taken, four PVP armor vendors, two more quest givers, and the Badge of Justice/Repair vendor will spawn.

The Badge vendor will NOT sell badge loot yet though until the quest to rebuild her Anvil/Forge has been completed enough times.

Phase Three
This phase is to take the Sun's Reach Harbor which will finish the rest of the City. Once this is completed there is a quest opened up to build an Alchemy Lab, which upon completion will spawn the reagent vendor.

Also once this is completed there will be a quest asking for a player to donate 10g for a monument, which gives 150 rep until exalted. Once exalted and in this phase, a player can also pay 1000g to gain the title "of the Shattered Sun".

Completion
Once all objectives have been completed K'iru will spawn and give everyone currently on the island and inside the Magisters' Terrace a buff of K'iru's Song of Victory which increases Stamina by 70, and Intellect by 40.

I would suggest for almost anyone who just got to level 70 to go and do these quests. It's redicilous easy how you can get to Exalted with these guys, and in addition you can get great equips and recipes. A couple of them are better then other pre-raiding gear you can get from quests.

The quests in this faction are also very duable, you don't need 'great' gear for it.
Especially casters will have a cakewalk in here. For tanking warriors it can be quite hard because everything dies so slowly and you can get more pulls very easily. For paladins it can be even worse because some of the guys suck away your mana.
But you can also skip these kinda quests and just go for the mobs you actually can handle.

If you're a busy man and don't have hours and hours, but still want very good items, no worries. Just do the flying quests. 1 is about bombing some place, extremely easy when you get the hang of it.
Another one is setting boats on fire.
It's like getting free reputation and gold.

Most of the quests aren't complicated at all, and they are very close together. Also don't forget to take the Nether Residue quest (if you're a miner) from Shat when you're going to the islands. Eventhough the location is actually in Azeroth, you can still loot the Nethers.

For what it's worth...
Unfortunately it is impossible for me to check for sure, but it does appear that the SSO guards dotted around the island adding ambiance get gear improvements as your server advances in the event. Weapons and especially the bows/xbows get beefier and more badass. We have https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=46302 now and they're positively spiky.

Fun little detail Blizz added.

Edit: A quick stop at Quel in the PTR, which has not advanced at all in the event, shows NPCs looking downright noobish.

Just some random information:

When you're attacked by a mob the guards will not help you. If you die they don't care at all. It's nice and all to see all those marksmen at the bridge, but they don't do a thing.

However, if you engage an enemy player in combat the guards will aid the defender.

Doing all the 19 daily quests every day will give you 4300 rep per day. Of those, 12 can be done on the isle, giving 2350 rep, and the other 7 that are done around outland give 1950 rep.

The 19 quests include donation quest & gathering quest (which depends on your professions)

I just turned Lvl 65, and the Shattered Sun Staging Area flightpath just opened up for me. Not sure how long its been doing it, but I thought I might throw it out there for any of those who don't know.

Do these quests every day on your way to level 80 (or at least until you're level 76/77). Doing all the Isle quests yields about 120,000ish experience, which is about 7-8% of a level. Do these quests ten times on your way to 80 and you'll save a good 40-50+ quests for level 80, which means more money in the long run.

A full clear of Magisters' Terrace on normal mode will net you 1655 reputation with the Shattered Sun. Soloing MGT on normal mode shouldn't be a problem for most classes (if not all) at lvl 80, and is probably the most efficient way to increase your reputation (supplemented with doing the dailies each day of course). As a fury warrior, I could clear normal mode MGT in about half an hour, also netting myself roughly 100g per run. Happy farming!

The time it takes to complete each phase will depend on how many people are doing each daily quest out there. If you check the quest giver when you get the quest they say 50% or 66% done. Obviously the more people doing it the quicker it will get done.

The dailies remain permenant. And no, you will not start at phase one. Also, once you complete it, Kil'jaeden will be unlocked in Sunwell Plateau. When you get at 50% the portal from Shattrath to the Isle will be unlocked.

This is the easiest faction to get exalted with bc there are 20 dailies that give you from 250-350 rep. it took me a week. If you do all the dailies you'll get exalted in no time

Have you guys seen alot of people with epic mounts lately? Thanks to all the dailys from the Shattered Sun Offensive you can save up more money for your epic flyers.

You know how hard it was for me to get my epic before the patch? It was brutal and with only a few dailys I had to spent most of my time farming primals.

You guys are LUCKY to have this Faction, now life is much easyer for you guys all you have to do is run the dailys and your fine. No point in saving up if your not going to do the dailys.

And don't forget about the other stuff you want to buy like BoE epics, enchantments, and other stuff that will make your life easyer. :D

Yes this faction is obscenely easy to gain rep with.

For non-human there are 18 solo SSO dailies available to everyone that give you 4100 rep, if you have a gathering proffession (mining, skinning, herb) that opens another quest bringing daily rep to 4450. Nuetral to exalted is 42000 rep, so this would come out to

10.24 days for 4100 rep/day (round it up to 11)
9.43 days for 4450 rep/day (round it up to 10)

For humans with the +10% rep 4510/4895 per day.

9.31 days for 4510 reo/day (round up to 10)
8.58 days for 4895 rep/day (round up to 9)

That is of course if you stay out of the instances and just solo grind the rep, and not accounting for the rep gains obtained from the starting quest-line.

For the chars of mine with epic flying mounts it takes about an hour and a half to complete all 19 quests. Once you have the ones on the Isle figured out they can be blown through in 40 minutes or so. Without the epic flyer, the dailies spread out across outland tack on another half hour.

So 1.5 - 2 hours for 4000-5000 rep and 200g just for quest turn ins, i usually end up with a total of 275-300g gain while doing sso dailies after selling vendor trash. Also end up with at least 1 primal fire, usually 2 primal mana and 1 or 2 primal earth with my miners. I have 2 xmute specced alchemists so doing dailies on two chars makes xmutes cheap to make with a 60g profit per xmute without a proc. Miners get at least 2 stacks of Ada-ore. You are guarenteed 4 greens from reward bags, but usually will get 7-10 per char during the daily grind. So taking all materials gathered into account on top of outright gold gained, you can end up with 400-500g per day, per char just with sso dailies.

In the course of about six weeks or so, i've gotten 5 chars to exalted with SSO (actually have all proffessions max skill across 8 lvl 70 chars) When i started doing the dailies i was litterally flat broke, at the end of 6 those six weeks i ended up being able to buy 3 regular flying mounts and 3 epic flying mounts for alts

900x3 = 2700g + 5200x3-15600g = 18,300.
Was able to purchase all 40 odd epic gem cuts for JCer
have 23,472g total across my chars, with
131 primal mights
At least 50 of each rare gem.
93 Fel Armament
159 arcane tomes
1922 Mark of Sargeras
3100 Sunfury signet
30-50 of each primal (air,fire,mana,life,water,shadow,earth)
569 Heavy knothide leather.
180 Large prismatic shards
So many Arcane dust that i have a mule just to hold the worthless things on the off chance they ever become valuable again.

So, around 20,000g spent, another near 24,000 sitting in safe deposite boxes =P, and another 50,000 or more in raw materials

So after all that grinding....collecting all that gold, and all those mats....i'm sick of wow and taking a break.

If youre like me and just dinged 70 this is a great way to get money.
Being herbalist this opens one more quest to colect nether residue wich has a sick drop rate but tis worth the grind because you get 6 golds more than a usual daily.

In just 2 days I was able to get a bunch of greens and blues and colected enough money to get the expert riding skill and to get a regular 60% speed increase flying mount.

If you just dinged 70, keep doing these dailies especialy if youre human for faster rep grind.

There isa lso a quest where you pay 10g to get 165 reputaion which is not a lot of money per day couse you can get 100 golds a day for doing dailies and greens you collect.

Fast and easy grind.

Very, Very Easy to get Exalted with these guys. For Neutral-Honored Do the Quests on the island itself, the quests in the throne of Kil'Jaeden in Hellfire and the Quest in Razor Ridge and The one in Shadow moon Valley. Then after you had an easy time with quests when your Revered go Revered-Exalted doing all the quests u previously did and the ones found on shattrath that include going to nagrand, Netherstorm, and Blades edge. You can do what ever you want but by doing those quests only when you are revered you are saving your self from ALOT of traveling Because doing them all the time would mean going to the island, hellfire, Shadowmoon, Terokar, Blades Edge , AND netherstorm so you would be traveling all of outlands every single day (plus by the time you are revered the extra boost of the 3 quests in Shat would speed up the process to getting Exalted something you can almost taste) :) hope this helps, sure helped me.

I hate doing same Qs again and again. For all those people saying "it is easy just do all the dailies". ty, helpful, not. Problem is not in difficulty but doing the same thing again and again.

As a prot warrior I have to get to exalted to get Dawnforged Defender. Here is what I did, see if it helps you:

Went Isle of Quel'Danas, did all the Qs they have, some of them are not very nice. All doable but some take longer for the same rep. I picked up 10 I liked (quick, all same place more or less). I do them in 1 hour, get 2K rep and ~100g. Assuming I need 33K rep I have to do this 17 times. I also assume I won't do them every day, sorry I have life. This way I end up with ~1 month of getting to my shield. Doing more Qs and/or doing them every day might make you hate the game :-)

So I guess my advise is don't try to advance too fast with SSO rep, you will get it eventually, nothing difficult there. While doing dailies there I also do CoT for rep (need +def & +dodge head buff they have), SL (they have couple prot items).

i think it took me like maybe a week or a week and a half to get ex with SSO its pretty easy. just do all the quests dont be lame about, grind the week out on the quests then you dont ever have to come back unless you want money, the necklaces from the vendor are really worth getting also for any class if you are ex with aldor/scryer

Other than looking 'neat' does the title do anything extra like give you a bit more gold when you turn in a quest on the Isle?

Well i dont like to grind daily quests also, but if you cant make raids because of my work you gotto make some effort to gear up. Thats why i do the dailys i like quick, then move to other things to do. The dailys take me about an hour a day so its not all that bad.

i lvled an alt to 70 some says ago. 3 days later, i had full blue lvl 70 tanking gear (it's a warr, btw) much thanks to these dailies. the gold helps to get blue gear off ah, and the rep rewards are kinda nice too.

yep Even if ur fully exalted, u can still do quest which is like farming 250g per day :D

Is this title still available now with WotLK? If so, what is the limitations to getting it and how do you get it before 71?

yes your still able to get the ''of the shattered sun'' aslong as you have exalted reputation and are willing to ''donate'' 1000g to them.

damm im 65 and want the title sounds cool and i have 1000g but want to save up epic skill so you cant just donate 1k ?

Lol, sure would be nice to gain the rep by donating. There is one daily that involves a small gold donation, so you could just do that one every day for a year if you're that lazy!
