Thanks for pointing out that through Lady Deathwisper's various reanimation mechanics there are 5 distinct cultist types in the encounter itself. When I first read it and saw the fight I thought it meant you would have to leave one of the trash packs in her room up during her whole fight. That would get messy.

Got the achievement tonight after lots of wipes.

Best way to do it:

Get your Deformed Fanatic, have someone (preferably DPS or a third tank if you can spare it) kite it. Once you get a Reanimated Fanatic and a Reanimated Adherent, have your OT hold them. The order of what adds you get isn't relevant, once you get 1 of each "transformed" adds, you're just about set.

Meanwhile your DPS is killing whatever excess adds, once the mana shield is low enough, (as low as possible without having the DoTs finish off it off) let the next wave of adds come out, and then CC them. This way the "normal" adds won't be beating on the tank holding the reanimated adds.

Finish off the bosses' mana shield to get it into phase 2.

The Deformed Fanatic will be taunted by the OT who has the other 2 Reanimated Adds. The OT will have to kite all the adds because if that Deformed Fanatic gets to the tank kiting it, they're getting hit hard.

From there it's a straight burn. Having a Rogue glyphed for TotT will make it easier. We let the MT on the boss have all 5 stacks of insignificance and kept burning the boss down as fast as we could without pulling aggro, so use your aggro reducing abilities. It's basically a DPS race on the boss, but keeping the final wave of adds controlled so you don't get overwhelmed by the extras.

We used a variant of the above tactic. It was useful and inspiring, thanks.

1) At the pull, all DPS just stay on the boss. The tanks pick up the first set of adds and wait for something to happen to them. If they are still humanoid by the time the next wave spawns, we kill them and any humanoids that can't turn into something useful in the next wave (so the tanks aren't tanking too many mobs).

* Deformed Fanatic = kited by our hunter
* Reanimated Fanatic = Turn Evil from our (holy) paladin
* Reanimated Adherent = Shackle Undead from our (holy) priest -- but first break the shield.

It's recommended that you put up some marks on them so it's easy to see which mobs not to hit.

2) Once you have the three undead varieties under control and Lady Deathwhisper's mana is low (as low as you can chance it), it's time for the transition, which we messed up many times but ended up with a neat tactic for. Whichever side is next up with adds doesn't matter, but once they spawn:

* Pop Heroism/Bloodlust if you have it (not necessary if you've brought her mana really low), DPS zerg Deathwhisper unless you are assigned to CC'ing the next wave.
* One tank picks up the southernmost add or the one closest to Deathwhisper if you're compassically impaired :) This will always be the second fanatic or second adherent (depending on side) so it's safe to kill it. The other is ready to pick up Deathwhisper.
* We used Polymorph on the Cult Fanatic and Fear on the Cult Adherent.
* It's imperative that you get her to P2 ASAP at this point! While she is in P1, she can turn the humanoids into undead, even if they are CC'd.
* Once in P2, finish off the aforementioned southernmost add and proceed to kill Lady Deathwhisper as normal while applying CC.

You do not need to have a setup exactly like ours to do the CC/kiting. We had many CC's to spare: A Repentance, a second Turn Evil, two Entangling Roots, Freezing Trap (or the arrow ;p), Hex... I am sure you don't need much/any planning with the setup to get enough CC, and even without it, one loose add shouldn't be impossible to outheal.

A slightly different strategy my guild used involved using three healers and three tanks, rather than depend on any kind of reliable cc. The problem with relying too much on cc for this fight is that the adherents like to pop those damage reflecting shields, which will quickly decimate your ranged dps.

Our strategy involved spawning the reanimated adherent, fanatic and deformed fanatic one way or another, and have our third tank kite and hold aggro on these mobs. The third healer kept us all alive through the damage, and once we got the pattern of things down it was quite easy.

The transition from phase one to phase two can be hectic. My best advice is to just stand there when here mana shield goes down for several seconds to let the tanks establish aggro. For a while we had tanks taunting the wrong targets, but once we just sat around for a bit, everything went smoothly. The enrage should never be an issue, so just take your time in p2. With the proper strategy things should go smoothly.

I have written some macros to make it easier for us to make sure we got ALL MOBS we need in Ph2 and noone changed anyway. Helps alot!

Make 5 different macros and drag them into your action bar: (My Makros are german, you have to edit them to the 5 mentioned above)

Once you thnink you are ready to pull lady to PH2 (at around 20 - 15%) Press all Makros and wait if the makro tells you it has found the specific mob. If it hasnt, "<no target> found" comes up. Do it at 20% because the makros need some time becuase of anti spam restrictions.

The group I'm in got this last night, and the keys to it are patience and control. It's also useful to note that when she transforms an add, she will do one of the following:

Cult Adherent - Reanimated Adherent
Cult Fanatic - Reanimated Fanatic
Cult Fanatic - Deformed Fanatic
Deformed Fanatic - Reanimated Fanatic

The adds can no longer transform once they become reanimated, so we focused on getting those two adds first because Deathwhisper kept reanimating our Deformed Fanatic if we tried to save the first one we saw. The first add pack to spawn will always be two fanatics and an adherent (in the middle), so we started the fight with all dps standing right where the adherent spawns, and all of them burned it down as soon as it spawned. Doing this forces Deathwhisper to either reanimate (if you're lucky) or deform (if you're unlucky) a fanatic. If you get a Reanimated Fanatic at that point, simply keep it CCed the rest of the fight. We were unlucky and ended up with a Deformed Fanatic, so we had a tank kite it while all the dps killed the Cult Fanatic then worked on removing Deathwhisper's mana.

When the next set of adds (two adherents with a fanatic in the middle) were about to spawn, all the dpsers moved to where the fanatic was going to appear then burned it down as soon as it did. This removed the possibility of Deathwhisper creating another deformed add, so we were guaranteed one type of reanimated add at that point. (If you were lucky enough to get a Reanimated Fanatic from the first set of adds, this method will guarantee you a Reanimated Adherent from the second set of adds.)

We received a Reanimated Adherent, so we had a tank pick it up while the dpsers killed all other adds except the Deformed Fanatic until we received our Reanimated Fanatic (which our priest shackled). Dpsers then killed *all* adds except our Reanimated Fanatic and Reanimated Adherent. At this point, we were waiting for our fourth set of adds and killed *all three* when they spawned. The odd-numbered add spawns are always two fanatics and an adherent, so if you just use those to get your Deformed Fanatic, you'll always automatically have your Cult Adherent and Cult Fanatic at the same time you get your Deformed Fanatic without having to save any adds from pulls beyond your two reanimated adds.

While this strategy runs the risk of hitting the enrage timer, it has a lot of control, so you don't have to worry about having too many adds. While waiting for your Deformed Fanatic, you'll only have two extra adds to worry about, and one tank is enough for both, even if you cannot shackle or otherwise CC one of the reanimated adds. The second tank holds aggro on all new add spawns, and the dpsers kill all three if a Deformed Fanatic does not appear. When our Deformed Fanatic appeared, our mage sheeped the Cult Fanatic, our hunter kited the Deformed Fanatic, and a tank picked up the Cult Adherent while the dpsers brought Deathwhisper to phase two.

Strategy Guide:

For this achievement, as you can see by the description, is to leave 5 DIFFERENT adds alive and they must be alive when Lady Deathwhisper dies. This is the source for all difficulty and RNG in this achievement. It is a difficult achievement that takes practice, patience and a good group.

Our group:

2 Tanks - | Paladin | Bear |
3 Healers - | Shaman | Paladin | Priest |
5 DPS - | Hunter | Ele Shaman | Warrior | Rogue | SPriest |

Adds that need to be left alive:

Deformed Fanatic
Reanimated Fanatic
Reanimated Adherent
Cult Fanatic
Cult Adherent

Boss Information:

This boss has two phases. The first phase is where Lady Deathwhisper is stationary on her platform. She has a mana shield that must be burnt through before you can do damage to her health pool. In order to burn this down in time, you must leave 1-2 DPS on her at all times, otherwise, you will just be wasting too much time killing adds.
Throughout phase one, the adds I was talking about will be spawning in 1 minute intervals, 3 at a time. It will either be 2 Adherents and 1 Fanatic, or 2 Fanatics and 1 Adherent. They alternate sides on which they spawn.
While these mobs are alive, they are susceptible to casting Martyrdom, (Which causes said mob to become reanimated and return to full health and turn into an undead) or they can have a buff cast on them by Lady Deathwhisper. One of which is Empowerment, which is cast on an Adherent and causes him to do large fast amounts of AoE damage. After a while this will run your healers oom. The other is only cast on a Fanatic and it causes them to become Deformed. When an add is deformed, he will only do melee damage, however it will hit tanks for ~30,000. It must be kited or killed. (Kited if you are trying for the achievement.)
During phase two, no more adds spawn and she will not cast her buffing spells anymore, however, small shadelike apparitions will appear and hit random raid members for a significant amount of damage. (That's how I die in my video) They DO have an aggro table, however, they are NOT tauntable or targetable.

Achievement Strategy:

For this achievement, your raid must leave the adds stated above up throughout the second phase of this encounter. In order to do so, you must plan which adds you will be killing and which adds you will be CCing, and when.
In our case, we have ALL the DPS on the boss until something happens to one of the first set of adds.
Deformed Fanatic - Kited around by our Hunter. CAN NOT let it hit anyone. Will one shot anything but a tank, which will die in 2 hits.
Reanimated Fanatic - Shackled by our priests.
Reanimated Adherent - Left alone. His damage should be easy to heal through.
After we have these three adds alive and the boss' mana pool is almost empty. We kill all remaining adds except for the marked three stated above. Once all the adds are dead, we bring her as low as possible and wait for the new set of adds. When the new set of 3 adds spawn, we immediately bring her down to keep from having any become Empowered, Deformed or reanimated.
Once she is down, tanks taunt off of each other when their threat debuff stacks get high and all DPS goes to her. Finish off the 6th add you do not need for the achievement. Blow Bloodlust and burn her down.

Tips:

Make sure you have a decurser for the Curse of Torpor.
Having a priest or Paladin to CC an undead is good.
And having a Hunter is a very welcomed asset for his kiting abilities on the Deformed mob.

it could be wise to use a pala tank for this.

in second phase let a paladin tank. Then he reach 5 he should have a macro who does

Divine shield
Divine shield aura cancel

So debuff gets reset(it works i tried it on the fight)
and ofc fast taunt after, this should be timed so second threat target gets healed or shielded some and then full nuke.

We've tried to do the achievement last night and we've failed. Right before the boss died, both Cult Adherent and Cult Fanatic transformed into Reanimated ones so we didn't have the needed mobs at the kill. So yeah, be aware of that kind of things. Any guesses how prevent that?

I did this achievement last night, it was the group I run withs second time doing the achievement.

What we did was ignore the first set of adds all together, this allowed her to deform and reanimate adds, after the first wave any "doubles" we had were killed (ie a second deformed, reanimated, etc). Empowered adds were killed automatically. We got LDW to 100k mana on her shield so that as soon as we had the correct 5 adds up we could push her over as soon as that happened. On a previous attempt we'd left her higher (about 300k) and she martyrd an add like Poddubniy had happen, which made us have to wipe an attempt.

We shackled the Reanimated Fanatic, and our DK Tank took the other four adds (Reanimated Adhearent, Adhearent, Fanatic, and Deformed Fanatic). He simply kited the adds throughout phase two. We attempted to have our hunter pull the Deformed Fanatic off our DK, however with the amount of threat our DK had on it it would have been very close to if not dead by the time it was pulled off. Our MT was a paladin who bubbled off his stacks, with our hunter MDing often.

The fight can get rather hectic if adds are uncontrolled, die or are transformed at the wrong time.

Does anyone know if Darnavan, and add for weekly ICC Deprogramming quest, counts towards the achievement?
He spawns at the place of Fanatic. He can be counted either as a Cult Fanatic or as a separate type.

We completed this achievement fairly easily, though we had some phase transition issues (bloody boss transformations).

To combat this, we decided to do the following:

Reanimated Fanatic - Shackle (im an spriest so I just used a macro)
Reanimated Adherent - We had one of our tanks dps down the shield and get agro on it... let it fire off at him while we tanked. Healers healed through the dmg.

Cult Fanatic - Ice Trapped
Cult Adherent - Sheeped

Deformed Fanatic - ret pally kited (can dispell as well as taunt when healing agro got too high and pulled it off, which was the issue we were having with a hunter Kiter).

Once you have a deformed and both reanimated, we waited for two sets of adds,, so we would have three of each, pushed her into phase 2 and then killed the ones we did not need, then burned boss. Two add spawns (min of 2 of each) is what helped us overcome her willingness to transform one of the ones we needed.

Group make up: 2 prot pallies, Resto Druid, Holy Priest, spriest, mage, lock, ret pally, hunter, ele shammy.

Have you tested your macro? I'm worried that the cancel aura command wouldn't work in one button press, due to latency or some other unforeseen problem. And if that were the case, your taunt would be on CD, as it would definitely be used after the shield; it's off the GCD.

It test it real quick but server is down for 24 hour maintenance. =(
