Much more difficult than the other 2 "speed bombing dailies" in Outland.

Tips:
At the start, use the sprint to sprint to the ley-line and do that part first, while you are there attempt to kill the dragons without getting overwhealmed, this part is mostly about luck, if you are lucky you will just get a steady stream of dragons to kill and be able to do it without having your drake die, when you are done killing your sprint should be available again, use this to sprint back to the quest NPC.

Havn't managed to do it yet myself, but i've been close with <5-10 seconds on the stopwatch :<
I'm not actually sure when the 2minute timer starts, from when you accept the quest or from when you get on a mount?
I have however been using my Wolf (Shaman) Sprint to reach the Drake after accepting the quest as quickly as possible to shave a few seconds off.

This is possible, but very hard to do in 2 minutes. I don't know whether a Riding Crop or anything makes a difference (vehicle mechanic?) but I had one on incase it did.

In terms of killing things, first of all keep your HP up. If your drake dies just restart the quest - not even a chance. The best way of picking up quick kills is to killing blow the low hp ones that the NPC dragons are attacking around the base.

To kill a drake, use one dot (2) and one fireball (1), don't waste a second fireball as the DOT is enough.
To kill a dragon, get the dot up asap and then just fireball spam. When the DOT runs off you can reapply it on the dragon if nothing else is nearby, but I normally try to get it on drakes for quick kills.

In terms of my path, I get out to the mount asap (used Sprint in my case, anything movement increasing helps) and then fly up to the normal dragon level. If there is anything in combat with an NPC, I go kill it. Drake or dragon, anything that is on LOWER hp than max is worth killing. If you can pick up a lowish HP dragon or two, then all the better. When you've killed anything low HP (or seen there is nothing good) then use the fast-fly move to get towards the rift quickly. Feel free to stop and kill stuff along the way, but don't stop moving. You need to get 100% of the effect of that speed boost - remember time is key.
Also, when you want to HAND IN the quest you *NEED* to DISMOUNT FIRST. If you're on the drake you can't talk to the NPC. I had about 5 seconds spare so it might be worth making an "instant handin" macro so you can slam it as you approach the NPC. Dismount as late as you can though, the drake is much faster than running.

As said earlier, turn on achievement tracking for this and just abandon/restart if the timer goes over two minutes.
This is a really hard achievement IMO, but it's a very good feeling to get it. Good luck!

Can someone post their "instant-dismount & hand-in" macro?
I've successfully managed to return to the NPC with ~10 seconds to spare on several occasions, only to have the achievement fail because of lag between dismounting and the quest being completed.

A command that helps IMMENSELY while doing this achievement is
/console set CameraDistanceMax 25
It gives you a much bigger overview of where mobs are and stuff, i felt really cramped with the maximum camera distance that WoW gave me.
After i completed it i noticed i was actually grouped, but the groupmember wasn't anywhere close at the moment.
Just thought i'd mention these things since every little bit counts with this achievement.

And as previously stated; MAN is it a good feeling to get it :)

I'll add my insights from completing this earlier today.

1. If there are a few drakes and dragons flying right near the starting point, go for them first. They're right there so you're not losing any time, and often they'll have lost some health from NPCs attacking them.
2. If you go to attack a mob, and before your attack lands another player tags it, you'll have lost valuable seconds - perhaps too many to make back. Keep this in mind; it's easier to get this done at low population times.
3. On that same note, you can have a few friends around to help you dps down drakes and dragons you've tagged - they don't need to be grouped, just following you. However, given that your name doesn't show up above your drake, they'll have to keep a close eye as to who you are.
4. Do not fight above the centre of the energy disruption. Chances are you'll get massively overwhelmed; you seem to aggro lots from there.
5. Drakes die in 2 Fireballs, or 1 Dot + 1 Fireball. Dragons die from ~4 Fireballs, or 2 Dots/2 Fireballs, give or take 1 Fireball for each method. Remember that the Fireball does 20-30k, and the Dot does about the same.
6. For the destabiliser - I found when flying in, using this, and immediately flying out, I had around a 50-50 success rate. I had about a 90% success rate when I just stood still while casting it. It does say "channeled" in the spell after all.
7. If you have about 30 secs left and only 1 or 2 more mobs to kill, Burning Speed back to base. You won't complete it if you stay out any longer, and if you're lucky (like I was) you'll find the ones you need back at base, maybe even on low health.
8. Keep in mind that it's tough, but doable. This was my third day ever of doing the quest, and it took me about an hour of attempts to get it done. Know when you've lost so you can start again earlier.

Good luck; it's actually a pretty decent achievement to have (if you do it legit and ignore point 3 =P). Enjoy!

The basic lowdown

Get to your dragon the fastest way you can! Don't bother using the speedboost at start, but cast Renew instead and fly a bit higher than the initial height and move towards the enemy shrine. There should be quite a few dragons on the way without overwhelming you. Don't rush, but keep moving to find new targets while you're killing your current one. Recast renew every time the cooldown is ready.
Immolate and Fireball the Azure Drakes (small ones), don't use two Fireballs. Feel free to tag others as you wait for Immolate cooldown. If there's no other dragons around, you can of course use a second fireball, the main point is to not have to wait for its cooldown, which makes a big difference.
If you see Azure Dragons with low health, try to tag them fast by Immolating them and immediately cast a Fireball which hopefully kills them. Beware that these are likely tagged by other players in many cases, so try to be aware of nearby players.
When you've done the shrine part, stay for a second and use your cooldowns. Use your speed boost back towards Wyrmrest Temple, and aim for the higher ground if you still need some drakes (shouldn't be more than 1-3 missing at this point, if you did good).

Additional notes

It's very important to know you surroundings. Always know which way to move, and know where on the Wyrmrest Temple you are going to deliver your quest. I found that turning nameplates off helped, since I often targeted the wrong drakes somehow when it was on.
You should be able to deliver the quest in time if you have at least 12-14 seconds left near the shrine. Be sure to leave the 'vehichle' to be able to talk to Afrasastrasz!
Don't give up too fast. If you messed up completely, restart. If you made some small mistake or was a bit unlucky with the first couple of dragons, your luck might still change if you keep your head cool.

Just managed to do it on my hunter after much practise in the early hours with no one else around. It still needs a bit of luck and theres no time for any mistakes. The best tips i can give are :-

1. Try to get a few azure dragons right at the start to get at least 2 if possible before you make a dash for the destabilizing, you can heal up during your dash.

2. Make the dragons the priority before drakes and if you can fight in a busy area, you will need the npc dragons to help

3. When your surrounded by npcs fighting use your immolate only to tag other low health mobs then switch back to your own target you don't always have time to cast a flame breath.

4. Try to keep heading in the direction of the hand in, i did it using dash only once on the way out to destabalize. If your efficient in fighting on your way back its not a problem.

5. Don't go too low down to destabalize, it wastes time and you risk getting caught on scenery. There is sometimes a drake there to kill while you channel destabilize

Most of what needs to be done in order for you to successfully get this achievement has already been said. I just finished it myself with 3 seconds left on the timer. Nevertheless, I would like to throw my two cents for those that have yet to complete this brain numbing achievement:

1.) If you don't have a way to boost yourself to your dragon, (e.g Sprint), angle yourself so that you can get the quest and be able to run straight towards your dragon. Once you are within talking distance, quickly click the option to get your dragon and keep going. Don't forget to use the achievement tracker before you start. Also, using the command to increase your max camera distance GREATLY helps.

2.) I started to pick off any dragons/drakes that was nearby. I got lucky and there were already at semi-low health since they were fighting the Accord dragons. When there weren't anymore dragons around, I started to head towards the azure dragonshrine. Deactivated it, and picked off any dragons that were nearby. I used my boost to head towards the Temple and used my renews as often as possible.

That's pretty much the gist of it, but please keep in mind:

-As stated earlier time and time again, KEEP MOVING. You can cast your fireball while flying around. Keep looking for more mobs to tag.

-Drakes can die with one fireball and one immolate, depending on how low he is. Dragons can die with one immolate and roughly 2 fireballs, also depending on how low his health already is. Don't go chasing a dragon as you are wasting time.

- I had a macro that allowed me to hand in a quest quickly. This helped TREMENDOUSLY.
/run SelectGossipActiveQuest(1); CompleteQuest(); GetQuestReward()
Right click on the quest giver and rapidly click the macro. Remember that you need to dismount before you hand in the quest.

- Don't get discouraged if you fail and fail again. This is a very, very difficult achievement and relies heavily on your luck, zero tolerance for error.

I must have tried this 200 times at the minimum. Unless there is something I am missing this is just not possible unless you have an EXTREMELY good connection. Out of the hundreds of times I have tried to do this since release the closest I have gotten is 12 seconds past the time to turn it in. Blizzard needs to stop testing these timed dailies in house and with people that are only 20 miles from the servers and actually test them with people hundreds of miles away. Then they may get an accurate timing of what it takes to complete it. I'd have to say this one is as bad or worse than the Blade's Edge Bomberman achievement.

I have noticed that an itchy trigger finger can sink you when trying to accomplish this achievement.

The cast time of the dragon's fireball is 2 seconds, and the global cooldown is 1.5 seconds. However it appears that if you try to cast a fireball before the previous fireball has cast, but after the global cooldown is up, it will REINVOKE the global cooldown without giving you a fireball, thereby denying you about 1 second of casting time per infraction. With such a narrow margin of error, this could spell the difference between success and failure.

For example, with a 300ms ping

Spamming the button:
0.0 - Fireball button pressed
0.3 - Fireball cast start
1.8 - GCD up
1.8 - Fireball button pressed (no fireball cast starts)
2.1 - GCD reinvoked
2.3 - Fireball cast
3.6 - GCD up
3.6 - Fireball button pressed
Time between fireballs: 3.6 seconds

No spam, 100 ms reaction time:
0.0 - Fireball button pressed
0.3 - Fireball cast start
1.8 - GCD up
2.3 - Fireball cast
2.4 - Fireball button pressed
Time between fireballs: 2.4 seconds

You can actually see this happen many times in the video linked above. Here is one example showing the spam effect:

1:15 - first fireball cast start
1:17 - global cooldown up, and fireball attempted to be recast, global cooldown reinvoked
1:18 - first fireball cast end
1:20 - second fireball cast start (had to wait for the GCD to finish that was invoked at 1:17) (The time differential is probably due to latency and the inability to look at time in a more granular fashion)

4 to 5 seconds inbetween fireball casts as opposed to 2-3 seconds in between fireball casts. (Depending on latency)

So don't panic and spam the button! It may be what is keeping you from succeeding!

This effect can actually be MAGNIFIED if you simply try to cast too early. In the above example, if you instead press the fireball button .1s before the fireball goes off:

0.0 - Fireball button pressed
0.3 - Fireball cast start
1.8 - GCD up
2.2 - Fireball button pressed (no fireball cast starts)
2.3 - Fireball cast

Did the achievement this morning.

The way it did it was that i accepted the Quest, ran to the dragon mount.

There i would kill any of the dragons (big ones especially) if they are at the position where i spawn o the mount.

If there aint any dragons within my attack range i fly down to the ground with haste, and go for the destabilizing. When i reach the beam in the ground i kill those drakes that are around ofc.

After wards i just go back home asap! and kill what i can on the way. And ofc using haste as soon as its ready again.

NB: The big drakes are ussually to be found around Wyrmrest temple attacking something, so you can get lucky and find a big drake that a NPC had burnt down for you.
And the small ones are found mostly at the crater with the beam.
When approaching the beam, spam your "5" buttin like no tommorrow. You will use the CD as soon as you are in range for it. This will also save you a second or two.

Hope this will help a few ppl doing this achevement.

Unfortunately I had this completed and was dismounted with 6 seconds to spare, however, a Wyrmrest Protector spawns RIGHT ON TOP of the quest giver, making it almost impossible to click on.

I hate this achievement.

Possibly the single most frustrating thing i have ever experienced.

-Wastes a good 10 seconds getting to the mount.
-Dragons randomly fade out and reappear
-It's easy to suddenly get mobbed by 10 of them out of nowhere
-Half the time the bomb cooldown will be used and you don't get credit for it
-An NPC spawns right on top of the quest guy making it hard to click him
-Dragons will reset way too easily. Drag them 10 yards away from where you attacked them and their health will reset.
-Can't find a dragon for more than 3 seconds? Fail, try again.

Luckily i got it after maybe 20 tries. I had 4 seconds to spare after i dismounted and actually took a breather before clicking complete. Very satisfying.

This quest is easy when you know the trick and is only somewhat luck based. As you can see the red dragon npcs are fighting with the blue dragons. The trick is that you can tag their mobs and get credit for the kill. Before you hit your first speed burst upon getting on the red dragon, look around the keep on the way to the rift. You will almost always see them fighting a few, espeically if you look up a little higher than the platform you start out on. Put 1 dot on a blue dragon and if 50 of their red dragons finish it, you get credit. Doesn't matter if the dragon they are fighting is at 1%, if you get a hit in on it you get credit. Get all you can near the keep and hit your burst and head for the rift for your final ones. If you can successfully tag about 3-4 mobs in a row like this, you will have tons of time. I have 30 seconds left upon arriving back at the quest giver.

One thing that I did to help was weaken some dragons that I could find then abandon the quest and re-get it. Since their health doesn't regenerate, you can kill them a lot faster.

I completed this achievement last night. My post will basically be a compendium of what others have said.

To accomplish this achievement you need to keep three things in mind:

* Drakes: Apply Immolate and Fireball.
* Dragons: Apply Immolate and Fireball until they die, which will usually be around 4-5.
* Don't spam the button. If you press it over and over you will activate the GCD while the first fireball is still being cast.

It can be luck-based. On my successful attempt I saw two dragons at low HP thanks to the Wyrmrest guardians around the temple just as I started; however I found the Azure Dragonshrine was so packed with mobs that this isn't as big a factor as the above three points. In fact on the 21 attempts previous my main problem was pulling too many mobs and the renew not being enough to keep up with the incoming damage :-)

Also when you get to the ley line in the Dragonshrine don't move away from it, wait for the complete message to show up (Note you can still shoot stuff around you while you wait). There's drakes and dragons here close together so this is a good spot to get them, save your speed boost for the flight back to the Temple and turn in quickly.

If you don't get it just abandon the quest and re-try. Best of luck to you.

On Dragons:

Immolate: 27.0% health.
Fireball: 23.6% to 30.4% health.

3 * 25% + 27.0% ≈ 100%
...in other words...
three Fireballs + one Immolate ≈ Dead Dragon

In general, don't waste time getting a 5th off while the 4th is still in transit. If you find a dragon with less than 69% / 46% / 23% health, cast fewer spells. That being said, I've experienced dragons occasionally lingering at 1% or 2% health, so it may be possible with really bad rolls on Fireball (23.6% instead of 30.4%) to have to cast a 5th spell. Otherwise, 4 spells kill Dragons.

And 2 spells easily kill drakes, no matter what.

After commenting, I finally got this achievement after three hours. I play on satellite internet atm (935ms when doing this), which severely punishes my cast times, so this should be possible for everyone. It definitely feels "impossible" though.

Tips:

Cast and move. These dragons are not mages. You can start and finish cast while moving, turned upside down, flying, spinning, and *!@#$ing about this achievement via gchat. If you get "Target not in line of sight," take that as an "Out of range" error.
Save sprint to make repeating the runs faster. Yes, this is totally counter-intuitive. Yeah, I tried it the other way to begin with, too. If you use sprint to begin with, then realize you have bad luck with spawns, you are far away. Otherwise, you're right at the questgiver. Using this strategy, I would often mount up, run out 5 seconds, and, seeing nothing, run right back. Easy failure, not hard failure. Basically saving sprint doubles your luck per minute!
But don't you need the extra speed from using two sprints? Actually, no. You have to spend almost all of your time fighting while flying anyway and you cannot really fight while making use of sprint because of mobs evading. On my successful run, I only had time to use 1/2 of a single sprint.
Macro. Once you've right-clicked to open chat with the NPC, spam /run SelectGossipActiveQuest(1); CompleteQuest(); GetQuestReward() to complete it. You must have opened chat with him. Only targeting him cost me my first good run and another 1.5 hours. /sad
Track the achievement by shift-clicking it in your achievement panel. This will give you a 2 minute countdown any time you accept the quest.
Don't forget to look up. Dragons and drakes can fly at high altitudes. Your next kill might be above you.

Buddy System ideas (that I didn't use or test):

Have buddies drag mobs near the mount-up location, nearly kill them, then dismount to untag them as you mount up.
They can then remount and help you kill mobs out of party after you tag them (which appears to happen via body pull, not damage).
Have them periodically downplay the value of the achievement and insult the mechanics. After 15 minutes or so, you might feel better just forgetting this achievement than you would have felt about completing it. Not recommended for everyone.

Completed the quest with 8 or so seconds left, dismounted, had 3 seconds on the clock when handed in,... no achievement. So for all I know, the times I have not been tracking the quest, I've been doing it in the initial 2 minutes.

Anyone else encountered this, where there is still time on the timer, but nothing happens when you hand in? And yes, I was not in a group at the time.

Kill the dragons around the temple. They are low on health from fighting the NPC dragons, and you will get help from the NPCs.

i'll put it short and simple.
you cannot do it in 2 min if all 5 drakes and 3 dragons were at full health even if you did not waste a second of your time using all hints above. achievement in its current view requires you to have some luck with finishing off half-hp enemies.

I pretty much did the same as everyone else though I got pretty lucky with mine. Burned the sprint right off the bat and made my way to the shrine while killing a drake or two along the way. I messed up with the first attempt to destabilize but just killed another drake that was around while I waited for the CD.

Then headed back to the temple, and spotted 2 dragons beating on other defenders who were low on health and managed to kill those within 1-2 fireballs. Killed the remaining 2 drakes there as well. At this point I used my sprint again (had about 30s left) and went looking for another dragon and found one that was low on health again so 1 fireball killed it. Made my way to the quest giver and handed it in with about 15s to spare yet.

It took me about 45mins to do this. I did it on time after about 15mins, but some Wyrmrest Protector was spawned on top of the quest giver so I couldn't hand it in on time. Based on my attempts it pretty much comes down to having to get lucky and finding a couple low on health that you can kill quick enough. I don't think it's possible if you have to burn down every single target from 100%-0.

I really recommend waiting until there are dragons fighting just outside the temple, then when you get on the dragon just finish them off, use sprint (making sure there is at least 1min 20 seconds left for a second sprint later) and then finish the quest off and sprint back.

1. max view distance, and keep your eyes open for npcs attacking enemy dragons - go for those ones
2. do not do not do not spam your spells, like the above posts it will actually make you lose time rather than gain.
3. when doing the thing at the enemy shrine, once you see the gcd come up on the spell start heading out and you should get credit for it.

I turned down my graphics too because they sometimes made npcs load slow

well i use head straight to SW by boost then take credit from Destabilize the Azure Dragonshrine then go back on path to hunt drake down on both side of ur toon also look up if there more above u while moving back to questgiver. so when done hunt them down then boost it again back to questgiver to turn in. i did it completed that point.

drake = dot,1 fireball then move on next tag
dragon = dot,2xfireball, dot then move on next tag

I just finished a solid 45 minutes of attempts and finally got it. It really seems mostly luck. i was constantly making it under 10 seconds off, and finally just had the perfect set of dragons on my way. The thing I'd recommend most is not stop moving. You can cast your spells on the move, and don't even have to face the mob for the fireball to cast, so don't stop. Always be moving towards your next target, any time you spend not casting spells is lost time. Good luck.

Did it quite on accident tonight. Aside from the tips already given, it appears you CAN be in a group while doing this, but the people can't be anywhere nearby (maybe no one can be in Dragonblight?).

I do recommend doing this on off-hours where you'll have your pickings of drakes and dragons to and from the Dragonshrine, as well as being very diligent about using Immolate to do a bunch of damage on adds while you burn down a target.

Would it be possible at all to do accept this not in a group, and then go join a group of 4 to make 5 of you, and leave when you're done, getting it all done fast, and turning it in not in a group?

Kind of similar to the fa'la'la'la'ogri'la achievement - only need to turn in the quest as a reindeer, don't need to do it as a reindeer.

Just got this one done after many tries. timer starts when you accept the quest.
Killed about 2 big ones and 4 small ones, then headed to the rift.
Then killed the rest i need on the way back, Handed it In with about 3 secs to spare.

So here's my advice. After 5 hours not consecutive, I got it. Unless you really have nothing better to do, don't bother with this. It's extremely frustrating to try over and over again for that long using the tips here and not getting it. This thing is 100% luck based. It depends on whether the mob you need is nearby at both the start and finish, and it depends on whether your ride dies or not.

I did it in 1m45s so I had 15s left, but I almost failed this quest because the stupid Dragonkin guard was blocking the NPC quest giver when I was turning it in.

Remember, you have to kill 3 big drakes, 5 small ones, destroy the beam thingy and then fly back to return the quest within 2m.

What I did was I had a friend following me not in group and I started by using the speed ability (button 4) and quickly get to the beam thingy that you are suppose to destroy. After that, I just started tagging dragons with Fireball (button 1) and my friend finished them off :) okay, so maybe its kind of a cheat but I don't care I got the achievement. But don't give up soon because I failed alot doing this even with my friend and I agree with some people here that this is based on pure luck. Sometimes I got overwhelmed with too many drakes and they just ripped me apart and sometimes I couldn't find any big drakes to kill.

Ok this is based on Theory

What If you did this with another player without being in a group.
Simply just Dot the Drake/Dragon and he'll kill it, therefore you will get credit since you tagged it.

Quest wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take AGES to dismount/mount the damn thing. After 20attempts and getting pitiful luck, I finally got it done, got back to the questgiver with 4seconds left.....and missed the handin because it takes too long to get off it's back.

Most frustrating daily quest/achievement ever. >.<

I definatly have to say this is largely luck based. It took me about 11 attempts to get this, 3 of those the destabilise went on CD but didnt count, once I got to the quest giver with 6 secs left, but the guard was standing right on top of him <.<

On my final attempt I got lucky with spawns near the temple, and got the achievement with <1 second to spare. The only real hint I can give to doing this, is use your first speed increase before 1min 10 secs, because you will most likely need 2 of them to complete this.

I just managed to do this, but it took me about 50 tries. It really did come down to luck, as my last kill wouldn't have been possible if the dragon didn't have 1k hp left. Because I was a holy paladin, I had no speed boost so Swiftness Potions really helped me, as it shaved off about 4 second from my total time, increasing my running speed between the quest giver and the dragon. I turned the quest in on the last second, just as an idea of how hard this is.

1. Straight to the rift. Since there is a chance for this to fail it's best to get it out of the way, if it fails you will not get the achievement; abandon and try again.

2. Do not fight ANY of the drakes or dragons near the rift. For me they leashed about 50% of the time making the time spent on them a waste.

3. Fight near the temple. For one the quest giver is only a few seconds away even at normal speed. Also it has the highest concentration of NPC defenders.

4. If you happen to get a span of time in which there are either no defenders or not blues you have most likely failed. Defenders are a neccessary to completing this quest.

5. If you do not have any skills to boost your run speed then Alchemists can make Swiftness Potions (50% faster for 15 secs will likely save you the few seconds you need to turn in the quest.) If there is a superior version of this potion by all means tell me.
----If you have nothing at all to boost your speed it takes 10-11 seconds to run to and get on the dragon

6. Do not waste time trying to weaken drakes and dragons in a previous quest then go back for them, they'll be dead or have disappeared.

Other important things:

Only fireball will tag a mob in regards to other players. If you dot them and they fireball them it's their mob.

OMG Finally, this is one insane achievement. Spent days trying and trying over and over, abandoning when I knew I couldnt get it in time. Just keep trying, i managed to do it with 8 seconds or so to spare. It is the best feeling to finally have this accomplished. My younger sister can verify my frusterations and cursing at this and the many people who would tag mobs you were fireballing at, so shes happy her ears have a rest to the foul words this achievement provoked out of me lol!

I completed this achievement with 6-7 second left (and I made a little mistake, I had to kill an extra azure) and did it a second time with 2seconds left but couldn't click the PNJ with the bug. All that in just 1 hour try at night. (ideally prefer to try it just before the reset of the daily) I used the same technique both times :
- Take the left dragon
- Sprint
- Halfway cast renew
- Just before you arrive to the Shrine like 100 yards before it (around when your sprint fade) you NEED to find something to attack, anything, immolate, keep moving to the shrine, Fireball him, now you should be close enought to the shrine and either 1 azure, or almost a full dragon (don't try to use the ability too early as the lag could make you fail it and then it's a nightmare, it's not a bug you just need to not rush it)
- Now try to find some more mobs around, hit them backward, heading back to the temple

When you disrupt the shrine, you have 2 options :
-there is a lot of mobs around here, so you try to kill a few, then take one mob and go backward to the temple
-there is not many mob, then you just take one, get back to the temple hitting him backward

so either you find a lot of mob near the shrine, or at the temple, and u need a couple of mobs to do the "road"....

Little reminding alrdy said on others post, you need 1 bolt 1 immolate to kill 1 azure full life. So don't try to wait and see if he dies, just go to the next one BUT don't go too far fast or either you won't get the kill or he will evade/reset

You need at least one "free" dragon, 2 to be real good meaning that he has alrdy been attacked by the NPC defenders. Then it's only depend on your ability to find Azure real quick, if they are full life it won't matter....
Then use a sprint again to hand in the quest, using the maccro you can find above.

The only real anoying bug you can face is the protector that pop on top of the NPC. If it happen and you dont want to wait the despawn try to aim at his feet with the camera on the side.

You are ^&*!ed in either of thoses cases (and be honest with yourself don't think "ok I dont have a good start but lets see how I can end it"). If you are wise enough to admit you failed the first 30 seconds, just end back to the temple and reset. It will save you a lot of time.
- You arrive to the shrine, but you cant target anything, so you start by disrupting the shrine. Very bad move IMO. You loose 5seconds, and it's a lot.
- You cant find dragons almost dead. If you see 3/3 dragon but you killed all of them from 100 to 0 believe me you failed already, just reset.
- What would help a lot is if you could find one dragon on the way shrine->temple
- You also fail if you spam click "disrupt shrine" while getting closer to it, there is almost 100% chances that it won't work

Finally last advice, there is two different priorities for each type of drakes. The azures, you need to find them FAST, the kill is just 3-4secs away you don't care much if they have been hit or not by NPC. The dragons however you preferably need them almost dead, but azure are IMO harder to find. So they are kind of the priority. So in short be selective on dragons, and rush all closest azure you see.

GL now, because you need it, we all needed it.

Tips
Make sure you know what it will take to kill both kinds of dragons.
Using the speed boost at the start is recommended.
You can cast your spells while moving.
Always be looking for your next kill target and try not to stop moving.
You can use the in game timer by checking the track check box in the achievement menu.
Drakes(the small ones): you can fireball then immolate and move on.
Dragons(big ones): use immolate and fireball until they die, like posted above 4 to 5 before they die.
Another thing I did that helped was to just keep moving when you do the "Destabilize the Azure Dragonshrine". Other then that it's a lot of luck.

In a previous comment, I saw someone mention that they were blocked by a Wyrmrest Protector on turn-in.

Turn on your nameplates for when you actually get lucky folks. It can make or break if you get the achievement or not. Gotten the achievement twice already, wouldn't have made it without'em.

Just got this one complete.

First, I started killing the mobs at the temple immediatly after mounting. With the help of the npc mobs, I managed to finish these steps extremely quick.

Next, I booked it to the destablization point with the dragon vehicle speed boost and moved to the very bottom of the activation point.

Then, I immediatly dismounted and used my own mount to book it back to the temple.

This way seemed to work best for me as it's easier to judge from the begining if you have a good shot at it by how lucky you get with the kills.

Most frustrating thing i have ever tried to do. I have yet to do it for a number of reasons.

1. Despawn
2. Those damn dragon guardians spawning on top of the quest giver
3. Ganked by like 15 dragons out of no where.
4. time wasted running to the mount (not all classes are rogues ya know)
5. The Destabilize spell bugging up (as it often does)
6. There is the random disappear/reappear thing that the dragons sometimes do (i suspect this is for the 280% speed which we fly at)

Now, there are a few things that can be done.
1. Despawn is purely mechanic, it can be made much better than it is at the moment. Its like being in a beta currently, full of bugs
2. Make them STATIONARY, they serve no purpose walking around as they dont attack the flying mobs and they aren't very helpful in any other way either.
3. increase the ratio of red dragons attacking. Currently from what i have seen there is actually no reason to why Wyrmrest by default should not already be overwhelmed.
4. This is an oh so simple and easy way to fix. since we have to talk to the mount rather than get mounted on accepting the quest, make the mount npc be the one that set the timer in motion. Or as said already, make the quest giver mount us, like the Frostborn Protodrake killing daily (which by the way is much better made)
5. Pure coding, there is no reason why it should by bugging up like this
6. the random dis-/re- appear that happens is something i am used to seeing as a herbalist (run up to a herb to take it and 2 sec later: "Oh sorry i didnt see you where herbing that"

If i sound mad its cause i am, blizz has alot of fixes to do with this and it ain't even mentioned in the patch notes yet

I actually managed to dismount before returning so i fell for to long to turn it in once (that was really frustrating) but lucky enough i was given a second chance right after which i pulled it of. loads of halfdead elites to kill around and the Shrine Destabilize worked instantly. FINALLY i can stop doing that dumb bugged quest

It really is luck based.
I tried it many times (at server start, after server reset) and I always had time to spare but needed 2-3 drakes or 2 dragons.
I tried it yesterday at 1:15 server time. Did four-five runs where I was dismounted, spent 2 minutes trying to find *a* dragon and another time where the Destabilize button was on the fritz and didn't work.
For the last attempt I managed to kill 2 dragons that were already engaged to our forces by using fireball/dot. I destabilized the temple (you can move while firing it...just make sure your dragon is firing a beam from its snout when you move. Otherwise it didn't fire and won't count) looked up and there was a nice, fat, plump spawn of drakes. Fireball, dot, switch target (no, I had no targetting macro), fire, dot, fire dot, fire dot.
I nailed the final dragon with 18 seconds to spare and a the turbo button ready to go. I reached the quest giver, dismounted with 5-8 seconds to spare and completed it.
With the right amount of mobs running around, it's cake.
Without the right amount, you can take up to 7 minutes and not be nearly done.
Try several times at different hours. You'll be able to complete it, don't worry.

Ive completed this achivment, heres what i did first, you put on boots with run speed or minor run speed becuase EVERY SECOND COUNTS trust me, then u want to kill any dragons around tower that are near u, and that are facing the direction to the pit. U have to be fast and MOVE when u cast fire ball keep moving when u have a few killed use sprint to get over the the pit kill all the dragons u need at the pit THEN LASTLY dissable it on ur way back the CD shoudl be up on ur sprint use it and get there i had 6 seconds to spare. Alos for the little dragons shoot one fire ball and DoT them then leave they will die.

If there are more than 1 people this becomes even more incredibly difficult as the enemy displacement for 1 person alone is the main problem with this achievement. Any more than 2 people, don't even bother trying, it's nearly impossible then. You might want to try asking others doing it to help one another one at a time, letting them tag the dragons and you kill them for them, so that everyone can get this without spending hours of time trying alone.

My problem is that there are never enough drakes around, There are plenty of dragons but i end up spending too much time wandering around looking for the drakes.

Anyways, after having tried this dozens of times and becoming pretty proficient at it i'd say they should ease the difficulty on this one, and fix the bugs (a win requires perfect enemy placement, weakened from npcs, nobody else doing this daily but you, and the destabilize to actually work)

edit: Finally got it. I was the only one attempting, which was very important. I always used fireball 1st, then DoT 2nd on drakes so i never had to stand still.

Thanks to all the comments here, I made it 2nd try ever, with 22 seconds left on the timer. First try there was simply not enough small drakes spawned at the southwest side of the temple, so 2nd try I just waited for as many drakes as possible getting in combat close to the questgiver before accepting the quest, and nuked them down asap. Got 3/5 and 3/3 really quick that way, all of them in the same spot so I didn't even have to move. The remaining 2 small ones were killed on the way to the Dragonshrine. Doing this will save you huge amounts of time, but might require some waiting for the perfect "spawns" close to the questgiver.

This is actually relatively easy. I did it with 1 minute 42 seconds and I did not get perfect string of dragons.

First of all hit the speed buff and rush to the ley line. Stay low. Don't aggro anything.
Then come back towards wyrmcrest. (once again staying low) When you get there start picking off the dragons around the tower. A simple immolate and one bolt is enough to kill the little drakes.
I got lucky the NPC defenders around the tower started helping.
When you are done hit the sprint button and get back to the quest giver!
You need to dismount before turning it in.

Finished it not that long ago.

For those that spotted it, it says that you should not be in a group, but nothing about a friend assisting you outside a group :).

All you have to do is to make sure you are the first to aggro the oncoming dragons, i.e. give them a couple of quick hits, and then your buddy (<3 tsoek) can easily assist you to finish them off. That way you are still awarded the kill on half the time ;).

Just wait for a nice spawn with plently of dragons around the start-off area, get your buddy (or buddies) to assist you, go to destabilise the core asap using sprint and your are done with plenty of time (depending how many buddies you got helping you). Just make sure not many other players are in the area, cause you will loose loads of aggro dragon, better wait for them to finish off.

Remember, in order to get the kill, the dragon you are shooting needs have a red colour next to its avatar when you target it. If it is grey, you waste your time cause someone has already capped the target and he/she will get the kill even if you kill it.

One last tip for shamans if you decide to do it alone. Get your wolfs out, hit agility and then accept the Quest. It saves you like almost 5 secs to get to the dragon mount.

I have not been arsed to do this myself but anyone who would test this for me is a darling :)

I've not seen anyone else mention this, but:

- If you are 'killed' while on the dragon, you will get a slowfall effect and be placed into combat until you reach the ground.
BUT - If you dismount the dragon yourself at low HP, you get the slowfall effect and you LEAVE combat. As a druid with instant flight form, this allows you to switch forms and quickly grab another dragon to get back into the fight.

I used the same trick to get to the quest giver faster so you dont have the dragon model in the way when you're attempting to turn in the quest.

Props to the Phazz for the turn in macro, it worked like a charm. I had 3 seconds to spare and only spent 90 minutes on this.

Got it 3rd try, was a lot easier than everyone is making it out to be. First 2 tries spent learning the abilities, after that I guess everything lined up.

Just keep immolate on CD at all times on the return flight, and never stop moving.Y ou definitely don't have to be flawless to get this one.

Has anyone tried bringing friends? You can't be grouped, but if you have someone nuking your dragons once you've tagged them, I presume this should be somewhat easier to do.

I am going to say that my obtaining of this achievement a few minutes ago was on pure luck. As I flew to the Azure Dragonshrine I was able to get 4/5 of my drakes and got 1 of my dragons, which happened to be on about 30% hp. After I finished at the shrine I got my last drake just as I was leaving, so I sped off toward the temple, and what do I see? but 2 dragon on 35-40% hp each, so I immolated one for the tag and fireballed the other then swapped.

Finished this achievement with about 12 seconds to spare, so like I said, pure luck on my part. This was probably my 20th or so attempt over the course of the week.

I just accomplished this with almost 30 seconds to spare.

What I did was to go out and grab three of the dragons and damage them enough so that another fireball would kill them. I then flew them toward Wyrmrest: low enough so the NPCs wouldn't kill them but high enough so that when I let my dragon die, I deaggroed them when I hit the ground. I then fly back to the quest giver, abandoned and reaccepted. I then flew toward where I left the three dragons, killed them within seconds, disabled the reactor and then with about 75 seconds on the clock, found the five drakes and killed them.

I've made it today on my 4rth try (cause i didnt knew the quest).
All you have to do its track the achievement, and when u see your not makeing it in time just abandon the quest and start over. I've done it with 18secs remaining.

Easy achievement, since you can do it repeatable. I manage to complete it on the 2nd try, mount up with drake and sprint (4) to the crystal and use (5). Fly up in the air and dragons keep spawning in your face, use (1) and (2) on blue dragons and (1) on big dragons until they got low HP u finish them with (1) or (2) to save time.

It took me something like 20 tries in a row to get this (once I failed I dropped the quest so I could do it again).

What finally worked for me was killing the 3 bigger dragons first by dropping the dot then spamming the fireball until they fell. Next I used the sprint to fly to the leyline and drop the disrupt spell as soon as possible (be sure to stay near the leyline for another 2 seconds or so, otherwise it might not complete). Last, fly up and kill the 5 drakes by dropping 1 dot and 1 fireball each. Sprint to the turn in and hopefully you'll make it just in time.

As a side note I've noticed that you can now be on your mount next to the quest giver, whereas before I think it dismounted you just inside. Being on your mount when you accept the quest could buy you 2 or 3 seconds getting to your drake. It doesn't sound like much, but believe me it's a huge difference at the end.

One critical fact that no-one has mentioned above: neither Immolate nor Fireball require you to be facing your target!

Since you don't have to still for fireball either, 100% of the time it takes to kill your current target should be spent in transit to your next target (if not in range already).

You can just abandon it and retake it to reset the timer and try again, as many times you want in a single day.

Also mount up before accepting the quest, run toward the defender dragon, unmount quickly and mount him. GIves you around 5 seconds.

Everything written before surely helped me. The most helpful thing i found though, is going in an dead hour, because tagged mobs from others really can make you waste 30+ seconds in the sum. That's 1/4 of the total time, great amount imo.

Took me half an hour, so i can guess something more than 15 tries, cause the first 3 were disaster :P

It had some challenge, unlike most achievement-related quests.

Did this yesterday. Very frustrating and I'd have to say it mostly depends on luck. I used an addon called "turn in" to accept the Quest, talk to the Dragon and turn the Quest in. I mounted up before accepting the Quest to save some seconds.

Some things I noticed:

Fireball has a 2sec CD. I don't know if this has been changed. So you can't spam and invoke another GCD. The tooltip confirms the CD allowing a fireball every 4sec (2sec Cast + 2sec CD).
It doesn't really matter if you rush to the rift first or not. More important is that you quickly look around for wounded Dragons/Drakes. Finish them off before flying to the rift. None in sight? Fly on to the rift. That doesn't mean that you should fly aimlessly to find wounded Dragons. Just look around by only using the mouse while already moving towards the rift.
The whole quest depends on luck! Resetting mobs, too many tagged mobs, rift destabilization doesn't work, out of nowhere 3-5 Dragons zerking you down. All of the above happened to me a few times.
Though it can be frustrating don't give up. Try again.

Really glad that I got this over with. The quest is annoyingly buggy. Good Luck to everyone trying to do it. It's the most important thing ;)

Very, very tough to do, and it's 75% based on luck.

I reccomend wiping the dragons out first. Find them at the temple and pray to God that they are only at half health from other attacks.

Then, speed boost to the shire and fly down to the ground near the pillar. Press 5 and fly up and start blasting some drakes (fireball and immolate will kill one, or two fireballs). If your attack on the pillar failed, repeat and go blast more drakes.

Also, I strongly reccomend using these macros

/target Azure Drake
/cast Fiery Breath

and

/target Azure Dragon
/cast Fiery Breath

You can find and attack prey much much faster with them, make sure you set em to a hotkey (I used F1 and F2 because they were close to the command bar keys)

Took me around 20 tries, but I eventually got it. And this may be obvious, but you can drop the quest if you know you aren't going to make it and retake it instead of waiting another day.

Annoyingly, I did this 50x + on my Hunter with only being about 4 seconds off. Decided to play on my Druid alt and naturally on the first try, snagged the achievement.

It was a good feeling, but extremely bittersweet as it wasn't my main.

To this day my Hunter still doesn't have it.

However, when I did do it on my druid, 2 of the larger dragons had already been hurt by the wyrmrest defenders before I finished them off. I first headed for the Destablization and then focused on killing dragons on my way back.

Good Luck to anyone still doing this, its one of the few achievements left in the game with that "yes finally! /cheer" feeling.

apparently works for someone, since several people here have reported success with methods that wouldn't work otherwise, but in my case, i have consistantly had it NOT give quest cred for any dragon that i did not BOTH tag AND get the killing blow on. mobs hitting it before i get there to soften it up works well enough (mobs can't tag, nameplate's still red, so i can still get tag), but i'v frequently tagged one, had it low, and then had another get the killing blow, and after this happening hundreds (literally, i'v been at this unsuccessfully for 6 months) of times, both with mobs getting killing blow, and other players, i'v never yet gotten quest cred on a dragon that i didn't both tag and drop.

lol I made this one some minutes ago! It's really hard but when I discovered how to kill small drakes (DoT+Fireball) it was slighlt better. You need a tons of luck and keeping your eyes all over the head.

I just want to add a crucial (maybe make or break) tip on this: If you are casting a Fireball on a mob and you target a different mob, it will CANCEL your Fireball. Make sure you keep your current target until the Fireball is finished casting. Also, the mobs that seem to be aggroing on you at the ley-line are actually the wizards down below casting spells at you. Make sure you go low, spam that 5 key, and then blazing speed out again. You will have a much easier time doing the quest if you find the mobs back at the base. It's very easy to get overwhelmed if you try to fight over the ley-line, and needless to say, if your drake dies, you're not going to get the achievement.

a very challenging achievement. Unlike most other wow achievements this one actually requires focus instead of time. took me 4 tries but managed with 7sec to spare (5sec) because i couldn't believe I actually did it).

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but LOCKS use ur Summoning circle to get to ur dragon mount faster. Saves like 3-4sec.

It is now three minutes, and very very easy if you follow the tips above. I learned that it was 3 minutes looking over it today and decided to give it a try.
I don't know why, but the quest tracker wasn't counting down properly, so I used the in-game stopwatch (/sw) a few times and got it to 2:30 in about three tries--and for some reason the shrine didn't destabilize twice in a row, so it might've been an even 2 minutes.

Very easy if you just sprint into the shrine, hit the destabilize, and start to just kill drakes. Because of the cooldown on the DoT, i found it simple to alternate between DoT-Fireball one drake, and then Fireball-Fireball the next drake. You have to DoT-Fireball-Fireball-Fireball the fullscale dragons.

The key, when fighting at the shrine with a lot of spawns, is to remember to keep renew on cooldown constantly. And, because of the new, lenient time limit, you can afford to sprint away from adds if you're being overwhelmed.

Last time I tried I had another NPC spawn on top of quest giver, so with a lot of cursing I made a ticket and received an answer about how complex WoW is and that they can't fix everything.

Now I've noticed that they have made this achievement possible even for a blind kitten, as 3 minutes is just too much. 5-10 seconds would be enough to still leave it somewhat challenging for those cases when you can't click NPC right away, or the drake you've killed was tagged last moment by someone else. Oh, well, guess there is no reason now not to get it, if I ever get close to Wyrmrest Temple.

I just completed this achivement by mistake, leveling my alt. I didn't rush it in any way, in fact I was taking it kind of slow, didn't notice it had been changed to 3 minutes until the achivement popped up when I turned in quest.

Would've been nice if they'd have simply taken the pray-for-lucky-spawns aspect out of it, rather than making it dead easy. Oh well, I'll take my 10 easy achievement points and be glad of it...!

I got this today while taking my time doing the daily while in a group for a heroic. Seems to be confirmed that you'll get credit as long as you complete it in time if your party members are far enough away. I feel kind of bad for the people who worked so hard to get this before it was nerfed.

as of patch 3.2 this quest is extremely easy. I had 1min 10 secs left when I turned it in. Was much harder before they nerfed it. Easily doable now.

I had to quit trying this achievement. Even at 3 minutes, it's ridiculous. I commend those who did it in 2 minutes. The biggest problem is that you will have no dragons to kill at all then all of a sudden you're being attacked by 3 or more that have appeared out of nowhere. As soon as that happens, kiss this try goodbye. This quest should not start until you mount the dragon but it begins as soon as you accept. I would bet that this is one of the most frustrating achievements in the game. I'll go for it again soon but unless you are really lucky with the guardians damaging the dragons, it's not gonna happen.

It seems they extended the time for the achievement to 3 minutes. Was flying past it today and decided to give it a shot and got it first attempt. I had over a minute left. Here's what I did:

I noticed as I was flying by that alot of the dragons and drakes were less than 50% health and all basicly stacked. So I went in, dropped them all, bursted to deactivate that "machine" or what have you. Then finished off what drakes/dragons I had left. Bursted back, dismounted, turned in. Got achieve.

Silly to change it, people who really wanted it could get it in 2 mins with some effort, now you can get it without even trying. How's that an achievement?

Upthread, someone was talking about the effects of 300 ms latency. Presumably he had got the casting order right, the order of drakes vs. dragons vs. destabilizing, the extraneous factors like doing this at a low traffic time on your server and plain dumb luck, and that still wasn't enough and the poster had to consider machine issues. And he has been rated up several times as I'm looking at it now. I mean, I think if a timer is so close that people trying to meet that timer have to change their strategy to deal with normal latency, that timer is too close.

That being said, yeah, increasing it by a full minute might have been too much. I just did this with 15 seconds to spare on my first try in a few months. However, I had just done Blade's Edge Bomberman 10 minutes earlier, so I was "in the zone". :)

Did a quick scan of all of these methods and there's something i think no one mentioned. Rather than spending days trying to get this achievement, even though it is a daily, remember it is a quest in the end. With that being said, here's my advice:

1. Open your achievements list and track it, this will give you a timer which will count down as soon as you start the quest.

2. Set yourself up with a routine for completing the quest. Whether you take out the shrine first or go after the drakes, so long as you can get it down to where you're doing this quest with your eyes closed you're good.

3. This is very important to remember. If you find yourself coming up short and missing the deadline for the achievement make your way back to the quest giver and abandon the quest immediately! Once you do it'll be right there for you to take up again and work on your timing.

You only need to complete this once, so if you're worried about Wyrmrest rep don't! Once completed, the reset will still occur and you can take the quest up again and again until you've reached exalted status!

This was changed to 3 minutes and it's insanely easy. Remember to always be casting on something and moving. Don't stay stationary and cast. Save sprint for the turn-in when complete. Good luck!

I just done this today. The way i done it was, I gather the smaller azure drakes and killed them all (the immolate type ability on ones that weren't hurt). If you are lucky, a red dragon will fly passed and help. But once those 5 are dead (1 minute max) fly to the bigger blue dragons (especially the weakened ones). As long as their health isnt below 80%, you will get the kill. Kill them (1 minute max again). Use the sprint to fly to the ley line. When you destabalize it, it shouldn't take you that long to fly back. I dont it with 10 seconds to spare.

This is so unbelievably easy now. I even circled the entire temple twice because there were no little drakes around. You have more than enough time to do this quest in under 3 minutes.

For all those complaining about the trivial achievement nerfing, rest assured that not everyone will have this achievement, even at 3 minutes.

I haven't managed to do this yet without dying, let alone in 3 minutes.

(No, I don't have the Outland timed bombing achievements either)

DOT up a dragon every chance you can. Fireball whenever DOT isn't up.

Since I've whined in a couple of threads here about "easy" achievements, in the interests of honesty, I did finally get this one recently. I also got the Blade's Edge bombing achievement, and have come close enough on the Skettis one that I am fairly confident I will eventually succeed on that too.

I still wouldn't call any of them easy (for me), but doable with enough practice and some luck.

On this one, on some attempts there just weren't enough drakes around to kill in time. But on other attempts I took off on my dragon and immediately found myself being zapped by four dragons at once and died in seconds. Even when everything worked well, I tend to get disoriented flying around chasing dragons and a few times completed objectives with time to spare but couldn't find the right level of the tower to land and turn in my quest before time expired. I don't think there's any way I could have managed this at 2 minutes with any amount of practice and luck.

Glad I finished this achievement. Thanks for all the helpful posts here that made it possible.

Won't be going back to visit the dragons any time soon.

Originally this achievement had to be done in 2 minutes which made it extrememly challenging. As of patch 3.2 it is now 3 minutes which makes it far easier.

In 2023 anyhow in Classic I just did this without much issue. Had 10 seconds or so left, and I wasn't even pushing hard. Got it on my 3rd or 4th run. The trick for me was to go after the dragons first and do the ones around the temple. The large Azure Dragons are more damaged in this area so they take less hits to kill. That frees you up to kill the smaller drakes which don't get attacked and you have to burn down. However, they only take a burn (ability 2) and a couple of hits with your primary fire (ability 1) to take out. Don't wait around for them to die if you get all that off, just move on to the next one. I left the destabilization part for the last as it's just a sprint over and back and you can use the accelerate flight ability (I think it's like ability 3) to close some distance in this front.

By staying close to the tower if you are not going to make time, you can abandon faster and start again. Try to get the tracker up on your quest while you are running from the quest giver to the drake to help you keep track.
