It's quite a lot of work, actually. A number of these can only be found in Northrend, while others are only found in one faction's starting zone. You're going to spend a lot of time traveling, some of it in hostile territory, and unless you have friends that help you by summoning you right next to critters, you're likely going to have to be level 70 or more.

...I will of course not let this prevent me from completing it on all my characters :D

The are cats usually running around the royal exchange in Silvermoon city thats were I got mine.
The are a field full of lvl 5 critter cows at Northfold Manor in Arathi Highlands.
I got my Prarie dog in Mulgore. (That's the Tauren mini-pet)
I saw more of them in Arathi Highlands though.
I got my toad in Dustwallow Marsh.

I had the brilliant idea to make a /love macro and flight-path around, clicking on things as I flew over them and hitting my macro.

Unfortunately this doesn't work; as you can't /emote while on a flightpath. Blizzard is crafty.

Sometimes the achievements that have a list of things to do won't credit them for a while... I've found a way to fix this is to check the "Tracking" box to turn on tracking for that achievement, then click it again to turn it off, and your missing items should be credited.

I just spent over an hour riding round Barrens looking for the Gazelles. I seem to remember them running in a herd round the Venture Co place when I was leveling up. Cant find them now... can only find the sickly ones :'(

As far as the Frog and Toads go, there is plenty of them round the lake near the Troll camp in Eversong Woods.

And dont buy a prarie dog whistle and /love it cause it dosnt count. Lol. Well at least its a nother vanity pet added. :P

You may want to try hitting 'v' so the health bars show up. It really helps with the little ones that are hard to see when you're riding past, and it gives me an alternative to making a bunch of macros.

You cannot fly past a critter with a flight path and do /love. The targeting works, but the emote won't show or add to your achievment even if you try.

However, when not on a flight path, I found that you only need to have the critter targeted, the range does not seem to matter at all.

Just a quick comment: All the Achievement animals don't show up with a hunters track beast ability and they must be the ones EXACTLY as shown on the list. Ergo a Lava Crab won't work you need a critter named just crab. I have almost gotten all the classic and outlands critters but will have to wait awhile to get the Northrend ones. All are level 3 or lower. I think the Rams are lvl 3 or 5 but can't remember off the top of my head.

Swine are in a pen at 53.9, 20.9 in the Barrens (Known as the Grol'dom Farm for those who don't have coordinates.)

Guide for doing “To All the Squirrels I’ve Loved Before” (ALLIANCE – I may do a Horde guide later but it would be pretty similar):

There are three things you need to do before following this guide.

#1: Set your Hearthstone to Dalaran. Do NOT burn your hearthstone trying to set this up.
#2: BEFORE STARTING: Go to Elwynn Forest and /love a chicken, sheep, cow, fawn, rabbit, cat and deer.

The rest are everywhere. After you get those guys out of the way, take a port from a mage to Shatt. Do not Hearthstone.

You can always make 2 macros if there’s too much text, and then slowly eliminate text as you begin to complete the achievement. If you include the full name of every critter in your macro, it will be too long to fit in a single macro!

START: Shatt (Ewe – Lower city), if you hearthstone to get here you will regret it later on. Get a mage portal.
Next Point: Fly to Allerian Stronghold in Terokkar Forest (Skunk, Squirrel – Outside Allerian Stronghold)
Next Point: Fly to Telredor in Zangarmarsh and head to The Steam Vault (Crab, Frog – Kill/CC the first two mobs or suicide run)

Next Point: Fly to Shattrath, then take a port to IF. Do not hearthstone.
Next Point: Fly to Loch Modan (Ram – see https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/npc=2098/ram/z38)
Next Point: Fly to Menethil Harbour (Toad)
Next Point: Take the boat to Theramore

In 3.0.8, there is a new achievement called "To All The Squirrels Who Shared My Life." (Not on Wowhead as of this post, but that'll be the URL when it is.) In short, it's a bunch more critters to /love. It's presented as the second part of a series, with this one here as the first, so it won't show up in the UI unless you've completed this one. However, I've confirmed on the PTR that you do get credit for /loving the critters on the new list even if you haven't completed "To All The Squirrels I've Loved Before." That is, after 3.0.8 is live, of course.

Arctic Hare is for the OTHER achievement To All the Squirrels I've shared my Life (or something like that) There's different animals on that list.

ALSO: IF you go for the achievement of killing critters,(PEST CONTROL) while you are in Ghostlands getting the frog and crab, you can find a couple of the critters you need to kill. The spiders are everywhere, I found them running all over the place, they are tiny, mostly near Tranquillen.While you are in Tranquillen, get the FP there, and it will connect you to UC and Silvermoon. Another critter I happened to find on accident, while going to get the crab(/love) down on the beach was Larva. You can kill him for the critter kill achievement. I found mine right near the pathway going into Golden Mist Village, spider critters there too.

Finally, a use for Far Sight!

I was recently leveling a shaman (since I was bored with DPSing as a mage) and got this ever-so-useful little spell. I decided to play around with it, and found I could chain it, since it has an unlimited range. Cast it, during the channel, cast it again and go further away, repeat ad nauseum. I managed to see from Orgrimmar to Dustwallow Marsh, to the point where I could watch a warlock soloing the boss fish thing between the piers. Targeted, /loved, and it counted towards the achievement. Seems to me that low-level shamans could use this to their advantage if they want to get the fawn without leaving Grom'gol, or if they want to hang out in Northrend without risking death.

There are plenty of swines in Mor'Shan base camp in the northernmost Barrens. There is a fencing near a building.

For you who does not like to travel too much: stay in Northrend for the sheep!

I accidentally found a couple of sheep standing inside the cave where "Mad" Jonah Stirling is at Scalawag Point while doing The Jig Is Up. :)

To the cat to the fawn to the arctic hare,

To the deer to the frog to the fjord turkey,
It should indeed not be as hot as hot love should be.

Cuz they are to small to live in the core,
