I seen some information was posted here but nothing to help explain or steer people in right direction so I did some checking and came up with a list of mounts attainable and the reputation, gold, drop zone, pvp marks, required to get them. Most of these purchased mounts usually require exalted reputation with the faction. All of this was done by footwork and not read anywhere as I couldn't find anything not involving how OP someone was...
It may have some errors involving the requirements but is otherwise accurate. An Alliance player will need to post about the Alliance side as I do not have any characters over there.

For verification purposes, please feel free to correct me.
This is still an ongoing list and being done on my free time while in game.

Class mount:
Paladin x2 from Class trainer
Warlock x2 from Class trainer
Death Knight x2 (Ground mount from start zone quest and Winded Steed of the Ebon Blade from the Flightmaster in Ebon Hold)

Horde General:
Orgrimmar: 7 mounts- 272gold total
Darkspear: 6 mounts- 264gold total
Thunderbluff: 6 mounts- 264gold total
Undercity: 5 mounts- 192gold total
Silvermoon city: 7 mounts- 272gold total

Other Factions:
Kirin Tor: 4 mounts- 18,200gold and 200 Hero Emblems total
Netherwing: 6 mounts- Do the dailies which lead up to Exalted, giving you 1 Netherwing drake mount free. The other 5 for 1000gold total, sold by Drake Dealer Hurlunk in the FelOrc camp on Netherwing Ledge
Sha' tari Skyguard: 5 mounts- 800g total
Shadowmoon Valley: 7 mounts- 1,100gold total

Bronze Drake: From extra boss in a timed run of Heroic Culling of Stratholme which will despawn after a set amount of time
Blue Proto-drake-Heroic Utgarde Pinnacle-Kill the 2nd boss who flies around during the battle until shot down and pray it drops
Black Proto-drake:
Green Proto-drake: Surprise in an egg purchased from the Oracles in Sholo Basin
Red Proto-drake: Complete "Glory of the Hero" achievement
Violet Proto-drake: Complete all the World Event Achievements-Check your general world event achievements, Noblegarden, Hallow's End, Children's week, etc
Time-lost Proto-drake: Kill the Time-Lost Proto-drake which patrols around The makers engine in StormPeaks periodically. Only spawns every few days and despawns after a few minutes.

You know... considering this mount takes roughly 75,000g, hundreds and hundreds of hours of rep grinding and material gathering, and a decent portion of luck with rare drops to obtain, I really wish it was cooler. Such a small population of the game will have this mount, yet it doesn't even compare to mounts like the Hardcore Raiding mounts (Black and Plagued Proto Drakes) 310% speed fliers, or how about the Hardcore Pvpers (Deadly Gladiator's Frostwyrm) 310% flier, but oh no, not the avid collector's and hardcore players mount. Why do we get spat on with a 280% miniature dragonfly that I'm sure looks beyond retarded on a Tauren? Only reason I even care is because I'm very close to mine but after all the time I've put into it I really feel it is horribly not worth it and I'd rather ride something else...... what's everybody else's take on this mount?

IMO if enough people complain about this mount's speed/look or something similar, it might actually get changed...

I actually did the math instead of just guestimating 75k gold, and so far with the mounts I have and using Frehk's math, so far I've spent roughly 60,000 gold on mounts, and that's only considering the mounts that cost straight up gold, not considering the stacks and stacks of relics of uluar that I bought to get exalted with sons of hodir, or other rep grinds to exalted..... Now, granted that was my choice because I didn't want to have to count on 3 more rare drops instead of just buying the Grand Ice mammoth for 8,000g, or Traveler's Tundra mammoth for 16,000g, or the mechano hog for 13,500 (since I didn't farm any mats).... still.... WTB a little bit of thought to the mount for 100 mounts Blizz....

You are also forgetting the class specific mounts. Warlocks, Paladins, and Death Knights can get 2 mounts unique to their class.

How about Hardcore Pvpers (Deadly Gladiator's Frostwyrm) 310% flier, but oh no, not the avid collector's and hardcore players mount.

This was bound to happen when blizzard first mentioned achivements, people now use it as a part of the game and expect to be rewarded as such. Come now, since when does adventuring include getting some more horses in your stables? The games rewards were from bringing honor to the Horde by winning something great, or defeating a lengedary creature. Yes, it takes some lucky and lots of time and gold, but no skill, it takes no skill at all to win at RNG on a monster, no skill to kill level 50 furbolgs at level 80 and no skill to buy some mounts. Blizzard are keeping the good things for good people who want to achive something for great benefit, not for great sums of gold. If you dont like the mount, dont do the achivement. Collecting is not, and shall never be hardcore, if you dont like it, i dont know maybe switch to something that is?

the time and effort to collect 100 mounts would care more about a cool mount as a reward than a PvPer would.

Please, someone kill him. The EFFORT required to get 100 mounts is yes significant, the time is also significant, but please do you know how you get the PvP mount? You have to be in the top .05% of arena teams on the server, no easy feat, by far outmatching the effort and most importantly skill required to obtain the mount.

Well, long fight's over, went from 94 to 99 with the 5 new argent mounts, and spent the better half of a week catching 8832 fish until I caught the Sea Turtle. The Red Dragonhawk is about as dumb and slow as I could have imagined. You know it's funny, I hadn't even had the mount 10 minutes when I was getting flooded with spam about how gay it looks and nobody could believe it's a 280% speed mount. Even a guy on a Gladiator Frostwyrm said that it should be 310% and one guy on the phoenix said it should have been 310% too. Funny, seems like the only people that don't realize this mount should be better looking/faster is blizzard lol.

EDIT****** everybody please go to this site and post your opinions on the Red/Blue Dragonhawk, I'm really trying to get this changed and the more input that blizzard sees, it's quite possible that it gets changed.

I prefere this one. The alliance version is more for High Elves, because of their eyes and culture. And everyone knows that Blood Elves is perfectly suited for this mount.

I can't believe this is only a 280% mount, that's extremely dissapointing blizzard. It takes an extremely long amount of time to get this mount and thousands and thousands of gold. I myself am still working on it and have 86 mounts.

i dont know what blizzard is thinking with, griding for this mount is rly not fun, but then adding a dragonhawk on argent tournament that looks better then this one makes all my farming go to waste, and teh mount wound be unique anymore, i realy hope they remove the planned one from argent tournament.. and also, farming 100 mounts should award a 310% speed mount, not 280%

I just hit 100 mounts on the PTR, and to my surprise, I received both the red and blue dragonhawks in the mail... Is this a glitch on the PTR or is it going live and to make up for the red reward being so similar to the now purchasable Sunreaver dragonhawk?

100 mounts for that crappy dragonhawk is an outrage especialy since the much cooler sunreaver dragon hawk will be released which ironicly will most likely be bought to get to the 100 mounts.

Heres a better idea for a mount: A red cape which allows your char to fly around superhero style (at 310% speed ofc)

At the moment, this mount does not scale with character size. As a tauren, I must say I look absolutely ridiculous riding this.

I also have this mount on the 3.2 PTR, and can confirm that it scales with size in 3.2. Thank goodness. >.>

This is one of the hardest, most admirable achievements to do in the game. At least until the next patch when it'll be only a matter of time before most have it.

The Dragonhawk has no special animation, it has no ground animation, there are no saddles, seats or reins. The model is exactly the same as the ones you fight in the Blood Elf starting lands, as well as the color. To boot it's only 280% speed.

For such a hard achievement, it's a very bad reward, at least the alliance get a re-colour, although red is fastest of course.

To note, the fact that alliance even have a shot at a Dragonhawk mount is yet another imbalance in the cross-faction mount availability.

Losing the kodo was a big blow. It would amount to having mechanostriders on the Horde side.

The only redeeming aspect of this mount is that it proves publicly that you have 101 mounts, but c'mon, PvPers who roll a cheap class get a 310% to do what? troll around in capitals where you can't even fly anyway. Considering that some mounts in the 101 may be made up of 310% mounts, I firmly believe the reward should be worth getting, both for reasons of the model and practicality.

Personally, I will have done this, no for the crappy reward. but because I love to collect. (and maybe cuz im an achievement tycoon/%^&*! of sorts.)

It is my opinion, and apparently the opinion of many others that it needs to be changed, if not its model (a bit late, I understand), but at least its function. At least it will now scale, I look retarded on this thing atm (tauren, ty, its a start).

*EDIT* A nice idea. Ya know those broodmother dragons (those fully grown ones, like in Outland's Blades Edge or East Netherstorm), those giant dragons should be the reward for this. Scaled down a bit of course.

It's worth mentioning that they fixed the sizes with Patch 3.2
I play a female tauren, and the mount is huge now, easily one of the largest flying mounts, because of its extravagant tail.
Before it was the same size as the mount of the northrend flying trainer in dalaran.

I have a few things to say I'm alliance and im sad that only horde can get this color ive always wanted a dragonhawk in this color as a mount and since im a dwarf i dont need to worry about size also i agree with lots of others who say this should be a 310% mount like the arena mounts im along time away from this achievement but I think that a dragonhawk is a pretty cool idea but thats just my opinion and i kno frostwyrms are really cool to and i understand why you think there better than dragonhawks for this achievement

From the wording in the first paragraph it sounds like there's a possibility of another mount achievement in the future, but I won't speculate on that.

As said before in some posts, I too am a bit disappointed on the 'coolness' of the red dragonhawk. Considering the amount of time & gold you have to invest, this rewards seems a bit unepic. The albino drake at 50 mounts was a suitable reward for such achievement and the 100 mount reward should be an upgrade on originality & coolness, not a downgrade.

Ofc I have my own idea of a suitable reward for this achievement:
- a sweet looking Proto with unique looks, like they did with the Rusted/Ironbound proto
- a Frostwyrm damned!
- a combination of a frostwyrm & a proto: the looks of a frostwyrm, the skeleton of a proto
- a flying stuffed Thanksgiving turkey that allows u to get buffed with your food of choice while flying

The speed issue is another topic, though I feel that they might as well boost it. Hardcore raiders, hardcore PVP'ers & now even hardcore season questers all can get a 310%. Gathering 100 mounts is an expensive & time consuming effort, and since the achievement involves... MOUNTS! - I think the future FrostwyrmProto (crosses fingers) should be a 310% mount.

Finally picked this up was fairly easy to so tbh. All that you really have to invest is time into grinds and gold. Ive been collecting so long for it im not sure what im gonna do now. Guess pickup the other mounts im missing and start getting ready for the next achievements 150 mounts or 200. Oh and by the way as everyone else has stated this mount was very unimpressive as a reward, i picked up the rocket mount (got lucky in the tcg) on the grind and it looks much cooler than this.
