The feathers drop from the frostmane novice. There are only two frostmane novice in the cave all the way in the back and they only drop 1 feather at a time so you will have to wait until it respawns to kill and loot again.

The easiest way to get to them without going through the whole cave is once you enter the cave clear the mobs on the left side of the cave. This should save you some time.

Ugh, this quest made me mad.. They put the mobs SO far down into the cave, and then they put 2 of the 3 mobs you need to kill BESIDE a level 5 named boss which has a big aggro range. I died 3 times doing this quest, it doesnt feel good dying on a level 3 in a starting area when your level 70 is doing karazhan.. :'[

Did this quest no problem. Went left from the entrance and killed both Novices (they shoot from a range, so they aren't hard to kill without aggroing others). I waited for the respawn of a third (which was less than 2 minutes) and got the last feather, and left the cave all within 4 minutes. No deaths, no problems.

There is a 3rd Novice. He's in a small cubby behind the room where the lvl 5 named spawns. Approx 29,81

I stopped counting after four Novices, so there's plenty in there to get. I hugged the south tunnel mostly at level 4 and it was easy enough, although these troll blokes are the first mobs that aggro.

Yeah, there are at least 4 Novices if you know where to look. Hug the right wall as if you actually felt the cold of Dun Morogh.

This quest scales to level. I recently completed it as a level 63 human warlock and received 10400 XP. Easiest XP ever.

I was just doing the ironforge starting quests to get exalted to Ironforge being a Human Warlock level 70, when I noticed i had a warlock quest up, i could pick it up and see the reward would be: Summon Imp, but I have it for a long time, is this a bug ?

Don't forget to pick up "The Troll Cave", which can be obtained from Grelin Whitebeard which is a bit north-west of the cave.

You can also loot Felix's Bucket of Bolts, which is needed for the quest "A Refugee's Quandary", obtainable by Felix Whindlebolt at coords 28,68 (Anvilmar). The Bucket of Bolts is just outside of the cave and since the lovely patch it sparkles so its really easy to spot.

There are at least 3 novices; 2 near boss and 1 a little further back.

These will drop for more than 1 warlock at a time. So each novice drops a charm for all the locks in your party/group.

Ok there is something very wrong with this quest. It was given as a level 3 solo and the area is full of aggressive level 4. After dying TWICE with a group I have given up and deleted the character. It seems really unfair to put a quest this difficult in order to get a basic skill for the warlock class. Also I should add we had yet to find a single novice at this location.

Please tell me you are joking.

The drop rate is 100%, the mobs are inside the cave if you enter and take a right turn, head to the back of the cave. If you wait till level 4 (which takes no time at all) you can use immolation and corruption to burn them down. Just clear one mob at a time. Even with two just DoT and melee. Eat/Drink if needed.

The only way I can see someone dying to this quest is someone *very* new to the game. But if you are posting on Wowhead, I find that unlikely.

This is an unfair quest to gnome warlocks compared to the difficulty of other imp quests as the trolls are closely packed together pulling one may pull about 3 i would not attempt this until level 4 at least or with a group

I agree with most others here. This quests is extremely hard for this level. After keilling one I tried for another but pulled a level 4 and the level 5 mob and of course died. After that I rezzed and hand no water. So I had too wait for a respawn, kill him and get the feather, sit down and wait for my mana too regenerate and kill him again then hearth out. Yeah, quite a but harder than the undead version of this quest.

The diffuculty of this quest has a solution. Travel to the Ironforge Airport. These trolls POUR out of a cave there. They are also neutral, so they wont attack you unless attacked

There are only few novices in there, but they respawn quick. The other cave is west and has them also, but it does not show up as a cave on the map.

Found them inside the cave with blue trolls. Not hard to get, fine drop chance, just kill 15-20 of them, then done:)

Coords: 27,80 is entrance for cave.

this quest is easy, run into the cave with all the trolls (loc stated above) go to where the named character is and turn right. There should be 2-3 that spawn there, kill em, loot the feathers and off you go :)

The novice trolls need for the warlock imp quest are in the cave in Coldridge Valley (New player start are.) Cave entrance is at 27,80.

If you go to the left or right when you get into the cave you will find them.

Pretty simple, go to the frostmane cave, kill the troll whelps out front (don't bother trying to sneak by, might work at first but soon you'll have 3 trolls on you), then once inside, turn left and stick to the left wall of the tunnel. When you get to a larger cavern with an ice lake in the middle, and Grek'nir the Cold on the far side, you're i nthe right room. Clear out some space carefully, then go onto the lake and kill the trolls there. There is 2 Novices, one on each side of Grek'nir. Wait til they walk away from him, then hit them with immolate, and 3 shadowbolts and you've got a feather.

I got mine in 3 straight novices.

The trolls you are looking for ARE inside the cave but you must go in farther then the entrance...

i find this quest kinda hard for a lev2 class quest.
allready red ones and with loads of red mobs even before you can reach them.
Its kinda more a non beginning quest if you ask me.
I would have expacted yellow mobs not red ones at lev2

Finished this quest as a level 4. You can really expect to do it any lower than that and live without a group. Killed 3 novices and got my three drops. Don't bother with your dagger, just shadowbolts until they are nearly dead or kill them with it, you don't have the HP to mess around.

This quest is no longer in game. The "Summon Imp" spell is now learned through the trainer like other common spells.

I found that cave. How to reach these Feather Charms? To kill novices (I did but charms were not found) or to do something else?

It's pretty much straight south, actually; the cave is visible on the in-game map. Coords are 26,79. The cave is surrounded by Troll Whelps; as past poster mentioned, the Novices you need to kill are towards the back of the cave.

Quest gives 360xp and +100rep to both Gnomeregan and Ironforge.

The cave is really to the southeast for some wierd reason and the Frostmanes novices are at the end of the cave.

Do the mail delivery quests first. The second delivery will lead to the quest La caverne des trolls to kill trolls so you can do those at the same time.

Is it even possible to loot the items for this quest without aggroing the boss? Im playing a level 4 lock and I died 4 times on this quest because every time I looted a novice the boss got pulled.
