I also could not see this quest, and was confused about it.

However, I believe this quest was removed and replaced, by the following: Onward to Ashenvale, which was added in TBC.

It's basically the same thing, 'Hey, here's a new quest hub, go there and have fun!'

You can grab it at Thundris Windweaver in Auberdine, northern building, 37,41 - 40,17.

Don't you think it's to get the flight path from Theramore to Darkshore.

Surely that's quicker to get to darkshore than going back to Menethil Harbour.

The flight master is dead straight after you get off the boat.

I did this quest at level 19 (right after arriving in Menethil from Loch Modan), on foot. Yes, it did absolutely nothing.

I guess the point of the quest really is to get you to see more of the world, since the path on foot does take you through the marsh, the barrens, and Ashenvale. I did have some close calls with enemies way above my level (19), particularly in the swamp, and you have to leave the road to walk around the perimiter of the Crossroads (thankfully for me the cemetery was right next to the south gate where I got slaughtered by the guards). It was a pretty fun trek, since I'm relatively new to the game and it's my first character, but if I play another character I probably won't bother with it again.

If nothing else, it gives u some flight paths and im sure thats a good enough reason 4 many ppl. And no Charlynz, its faster 2 HS 2 IF (if ur stone takes u there) and then go Menethil/Auberdine cuz the flight from Theramore takes 10+ mins. Too dang boring 2 hang there in the air so long!

Confirmed at lvl 23, no xp, no rep... I can understand it's a quest to get the fp, though, anyone at lvl 20 not smart enough to find the fp first thing in a new city... Well, I'd say that's not too smart...
Though this kinda sucks, I forgot for a sec that there was a boat going to auberdine, so I flew for about 9 mins... for nothing...

Anyhow, advise: if ya ever been to astranaar already, don't do the quest. I you haven't been there already, you can do the quest or you can just get there for a q that does actually yield xp.

got at lvl 22, happened to finish the "the corruption aboard" quest at auberdine on the way. got 1450 exp for this quest. start running south, 145 exp for discovering maestra's post, 155 for astranaar but none for completing the quest itself.

I had already taken the boat to Auberdine so I flew it was good fun and since it was my first time I enjoyed it. I wouldn't do it twice though.

There are some nice quests in Astranaar for my level (23)

u might want to pick up the kayneth quest doing this will open alot of new quest that wheren't there at the begianing there are 7 to 8 quest there now

It's not a total waste if you want to level your cooking skill. In order to get your cooking past 150, you have to go there to buy a cookbook

While I didn't get any experience for turning in this quest, I did however get experience for getting there. From accepting the Fiora Longears quest to traveling to Astranaar, I got approx. 1250 exp, broken down like so:

Discovered Theremore Isle: 195 exp
Fiora Longears Completed: 775 exp
Discovered Auberdine: 81 exp
Maestra's Post Discovered: 145 exp
Astranaar Discovered: 155 exp
Journey to Astranaar Completed: 0 exp

I did this quest at level 19, so these numbers will differ with your level, and whether you've traveled to any of these places before. The numbers and time it takes to finish will also be wildly different if you travel by foot through the swamp and across The Barrens, as opposed to traveling by boat back to Menethil Harbor, then boating to Auberdine.

For a character who has never traveled much beyond their starting areas, this quest will still reward over 1000 exp, which in combination with the new flight paths and knowledge of the areas makes this quest worth it to me.

You can of course just as easily do another quest for more exp in the time that it takes to do this quest, but if you like exploring, then this is a fun quest.

Hi, I'm Circlemaker, a lvl 55 tauren druid on Drak'thul. If I see a lvl 19 alli wandering lost through the Barrens--I will kill them, no questions asked. You would do the same to me.

So please, for your own sake, get back on the boat. =D

Att: Newbies - Looking out towards the ocean, the boat to the far right takes you to Auberdine, Darkshire. When you step onboard, "Baradin Bay" pops up as the destination.

She's now on the dock in Auberdine which makes the trip to Astranaar a lot easier.

OMG. I already had the flight path, so I got no exp for going there because I flew. If there's no quest after this...I'll be mad.

Back on subject...
The flight path gets you no exp for flying there. The quest gets you no exp for finishing it. If you walk, then it's free and you learn new areas, getting ext. If you boat, it's free. Also it IS fast so it's almost better than the flight. If you just want to discover the place, do it, but if you want exp, don't. I suggest dropping it, especially if you can fly there already.

So, if you want exp, drop it. If you just want to know what Astranaar is like, you can go there some other time, because at lv 19, it's hard there.

i think it a little bit of a pointless quest but it does open up others, ok so you dont get EXP for doing the quest... but you still learn where places are and how to get there, also it gives you an award when you uncover the whole map of the place, so not completely a waste of time considering,

also, theres nothing wrong with noobs.. i am one, im only a lvl 19 hunter dreanei and i'm loving it.

dont be harsh to noobs, everyone is one at some point

This really is a crappy quest. Maybe all it should be is to go to theramore and accept any quest. I'm a night elf, so I just took the griffen flight path to Aubrdine/dark shore and then another flight down to astranaar. No reward or anything. Just a waste of my time.

Personally I liked the quest. I liked the whole exploring and looking over your shoulder aspect. It is what the game was designed for. Those of you that say you died x number of times? How? I got ganked by a ? but other then that I fended off all attackers. It did take some time however with all the running so I suggest if you do not have the time dont do it until you do. It can be quite boring if no action comes your way. My suggestion is to zig zag on and off the road. Discover the areas to the sides of the roads as well as the road. You actually get quite a bit of xp like that. I did not keep tally but at level 21 I prolly gained well over 2k in just discovery not counting what I killed on the way and the quest options it opened up. All in all I would say with discover and kills I netted upwards around 5k total while on this quest.

I took the easy way and took the boat back to darkshore and down to Astranaar. I got *nothing*! I don't know if it expects you to hoof it or what, but I was pissed.

Well i walked the whole way as a lvl 34 paladin. Thought it was plain sailing til i got got my butt handed to me by all the lvl 40 Horde guards. Didn't realise they were going to be on the way. That'll teach me for not doing my research :p Saw some stuff I hadn't seen before though so i did enjoy it

yeahhh. im a 22 nightelf druid, walked someways then decided id just do it the easy way and hearth to darkshore.

btw i discovered an area called the quagmire....

As a level 24 Mage I got killed 4 times in the before I reached the next town. Staying on the road helped NOT at all and everything was to high level for my spells to stop.
So I hearthstoned out for now may try it later.

Fiona Longears is now on the dock at Auberdine. Which is the zone she should have been in from the beginning. Don't know how permanent this is. They haven't changed any of the text.

This is a good quest, it serves its purpose, no idea what people are crying about. I just did this on my mage, decided to go the Darkshore to Astranar route. Long walk but the point of the quest is to explore differant areas and also to open up your questing options. Granted this quest differs from others becasue you dont get money/exp/ZOMG GREENS etc. but exploring is way more rewarding than experience.

I just did this quest. It is either broken, or you do have to WALK the whole way. I took the flight from Theramore to Auberdine and then ran to Astranaar. Completed successfully, but got ZERO experience. grrrr.
Nice 15 minute flight though.... <sarcasm>

Today is March 2 2005 and I was rewarded 195 exp for finishing this part of the quest. I finished this at level 27.

I took the hard way there and walked all the way from Theramore to Astranaar and got zero experiences as a level 25 Human Paladin.

I really enjoyed the run down to Theramore - got exp from all the new places, found out how to avoid the Horde guards(after a death of course)

As people said, this is a quest to get people 'out there', as it were. As I'm a level 18 Night Elf, I just took the boat to Darkshore, and flew the rest. However, I imagine it's a good one to run (and explore), provided all those nasty ? Alligators don't kill you. >_<

The point of this quest is just like the various ones in Westfall/Lakeshire/etc that send you back and forth between those areas and, say Darkshire. Or the Dwarven ones that send you to Dun Murgoth and then to Menethil Harbour - it's just to get people to visit zones X, Y and Z to "see the world".

Of course if you've already seen it, there's not a great deal of point to them, but it's to get the more ..timid players to see some new zones.

I've had the quest for months and just can't be arsed with it anymore.

I ran all the way (it was scary - many of the beasties were very high level to me - like around level 35+) and I was grateful of my Divine Auras and Blessing sof Protection. But, exploring new places is exciting. When I arrived in Astranar, I spoke to the NPC and got the exp reward.

With HC being out now: dont get the idea to run towards Astranaar through Dustwallow Marsh. Take the ship back and this time use the right boatsteg. Youll end up in Darkshore and wont get killed on your way to Ashenvale if youre 20+.
