wouldn't be too shabby a weapon for a prot warrior to open with to get massive amounts of threat before switching to a mitigation weapon IMO.

As a protection paladin, I picked it up as a DPS (and there for TPS) increase over Red Sword of Courage. I then realized that is also decent for an avoidance set. I now swap the two according to the situation.

i use this as off hand with Angry Dead on main hand.
Combat mace spec of course and it means pure dps! .. i miss the faster combination of a dagger as off hand and fistweapon main hand and the 5% crit.. but who cares?.. in raids i have over 40% crit ..

Those (rare) mace spec rogues and dual wield DKs who still use this rather nice weapon in their offhand will want to look at Ulduar-10 trash drops for the Bloodcrush Cudgel ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=46351 ) which is basically an upgrade in every single stat, dps and is faster.

Well.. The slower weapons are usually the harder hitting ones, so as an enhancement shaman, I'd prefer having two powerful weapons hitting at once than two weak ones. Yes, with the offhand one buffed Flametongue

Imma combat spec rogue, and I use this as an off-hand with Silent Crusader as my MH. For now that is. I stack up on as much haste rating I can so that way I can have fast, yet powerfull weapons. Just starting Ulduar and Im prefering to get two 1H swords or maces.

The speed of your off-hand doesn't matter anymore as far as Flametongue Weapon is concerned, this is true.
Off-hand speed still matters for Stormstrike and Lava Lash, which both use your weapon's damage (weapon damage will generally be higher on slower weapons), and slower weapons will generally see more procs of Maelstrom Weapon.

MW is a normalized, procs per minute (PPM) spell, meaning faster weapons proc less, and slower weapons proc more, to create a similar amount of procs under normal, auto-attacking circumstances.
Thus, using a slower weapon has a higher chance per attack of proccing MW, meaning every time you use Stormstrike and Lava Lash, you are also giving your weapons another chance to cause a proc. With a slower weapon, this chance will be higher than a fast weapon, causing a slight increase in procs in the standard Enhancement DPS priority.

I tried to explain this as clearly as possible, but I have to hop in the shower now. Work sucks.
To make this post relevant to this item, 1.60 is a BAD weapon speed for an Off-Hand, or Main-hand for that matter, for Enhancement Shamans, and they need not roll on this.
