Nerubians are intelligent, hence you are skinning intelligent beings :P, I understand worgen and yeti since they are barely intelligent, but Nerubians are supposely one of the smartest races in Warcraft.

Why don't they just let us skin Tauren or Night Elves, it would be the same as skinning the Nerubians. And my dwarf always wanted a tauren's head for a hat. And my orc would very well like a stuffed gnome to play gnomeball with.

If the drop rates hold true, then for us LW's trying to create this quiver ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=60647 ) is really going to be a pain.

These also can be skinned from Scourged Flamespitters near Valiance Keep. Great way to get them right now that people are doing the beginning quests and this mob is needed for one of the first quests in that area.

Since I didn't care for the crowds doing the low level quests in WotLk, I went exploring. Found a nice little outpost in Ice Crown where I could dot the mobs(sometimes it took a few tries to get a successful hit), and the guards would finish them off before I looted and skinned them. Picked up 37 Nerubian Chitin, 120 leather, and 6 Arctic furs in about 2 hours. With a little practice this rate could probably be doubled.

I love theese, I farm them for about 1 stack / hour and sell for 350 gold, along with all the Borean Leathers that I get 10-15 stacks / hour, and sell for 25 gold / stack :)
Sometimes I get lucky and find an Arctic Fur or two too ;)

Run the two instances in dragonblight, the one's with the undead spiders. I ran both of tem tonight and got a full stack. Just make sure no one else is a skinner.

A reliable spot to farm these is around Kolramas, from the small skitterers. Not the best droprate, but I haven't found a better spot so far.

A good place for skinner to get Nerubian Chitin is Scourgeholme, in IceCrown.

U can alse kill the others mobs in order to get some Frostweave Cloth.

Incredibly low drop rate from the mobs around Warsong Hold. Probably less than 2% so not worth hanging around there to skin despite the loads of corpses lying around.

I have found that by far the best place to farm for these is the Forgotten Depths Slayer's and the Forgotten Depths Ambusher's they are found around the south-east most part of Icecrown in the area of 85-74 near the argent vanguard.

They may, however, only be available before and during the quest(s) that involve them, I only say this because I farmed them for a while whilst questing in that area but cannot seem to find them now that i have completed the quest(s) any info regarding this would be greatly appreciated!

I've found that obviously, a good spot is Azjol Nerub, and since the xpac, they've upped the drop rate of Nerubian Chitins. If you're level 80, a good place to go is around Warsong Hold. I just pull 6-8 at a time, and volley away. The best thing is that people are always questing there, and you can skin their kills as well. In about 45 minutes I got 25 chitins, and a decent amount of leather.

I farmed 20 for https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=60647... It took about an hour and a half, at Icecrown north of Argent Vanguard. It's great there because you never have to wait for spawns, you are always killing stuff! I also made 10 heavy borean leather, and 1 borean leather... I was an 80 BM hunter with a gorilla, that helped me a lot. Make sure you check inside the buildings, the one building in the north, has 2 guards and 4 guys inside, all give leather. Make sure you check in there!

The drop rates on this item aren't entirely accurate. I was just wandering around doing quests in Zul'Drak, skinning all of the Hath'ar Skimmers that I had killed, and got 12 of these Nerubian Chitins. I probably only killed about 50 of these mobs. Sometimes I would get a couple in a row, sometimes I wouldn't get one for a while, but the drop rate on these isn't too bad.

Very easy to farm the first two mobs in Azjol-nerub on normal difficulty (at least for me as a BM hunter).
Always get 1 chitin from the two, sometimes they drop two, but you can easily get 5-10 in an hour for very little work, and they give 3.4k xp at 77.

An amazing place to farm Nerubian Chitin would definitely have to be right outside the Argent Vanguard. Make sure you don't complete many quests and make the same mistake I did. If you complete a certain quest (Can't remember which one it is), the area will change (Damn you phasing!) and all the spiders will disappear. I made this mistake on my main and regretted losing such a great farming spot. So, when I was leveling my hunter, I rushed over to Argent Vanguard when I was halfway to 77. I did nothing but kill the spiders near the vanguard from 76.5-77. After seeing how much money I made grinding there, I'm definitely going to stay there until 80. Here's the drops I got, from half a level, along with the average price on my server:

430 Borean Leather - 215g
2 Arctic Fur - 80g
68 Nerubian Chitin - 204g
121 Frostweave Cloth - 60g
25 Infinite Dust (From disenchanting greens) - 125g
73g in pure cash (These mobs act like humanoids, in which they drop money and cloth)
87g in vendor trash (They drop ALOT of gray items)

The 73g in pure cash is also subtracting the cost of bullets and repairs, so they dropped even more money than that. They also dropped a lot of food/water/potions which I didn't include. Anyways, it comes out to a grand total of 844g. Not bad for a couple of hours of farming (I was only level 76, with a level 72 pet , so an 80 could probably have farmed 1.5 times as much as me in the same amount of time).

The best strategy I found is to run around attacking whichever ones you see. If one of the spiders is getting attacked by one of the guards, put a DoT on it. As long as you do at least 1 damage, the kill will be yours and you can loot/skin the mob. Also, if there are no spiders in sight, break the webbings. There's about a 30% chance there will be a spider inside. Just make sure you're not right next to it when you break it, as it'll explode and launch you backwards.

Edit: One thing I forgot to add. There's an extra reason to break the webbings. Apparently (This never happened to me at 76, but happens now at 77), the crusaders inside give you a buff and heal you. I get a 30 min Blessing of Might that adds 350 AP and they usually heal me for about 5k or so. So definitely break open those webs. You'll either get another spider to kill, or a nice buff/heal. It's a win-win situation.

I find it strange that you can skin the Gundrak raptors. They're about the only beast that doesn't drop meat in Northrend. But they do give chitins, and they're easy to kill. They have a fairly decent drop rate. I just wish there were more of them, or more beasts that could produce nerubian chitins when skinned.

For nerubian chitin I like to farm at Argent Vanguard area. Pre-quest completion.

NOTE: If you have completed the quests there, the mob's will NOT be available.

1. The mobs have a fast spawn time.
2. Argent NPCs in the area will assist in killing attackers.
3. Cocooned NPC's can open a paladin who will buff and heal you, or yield another enemy to fight.
4. Good farming spot for arctic fur.
5. Good farming spot for borean leather.
6. Good farming spot for Frostweave. Especially if you are a tailor.

For lower level people who need these things, kill the nerubians east of the Westwind Refugee Camp (Anub'ar Ambushers) in Dragonblight. I found that they have around a 30% drop rate. The Anub'ar Dreadweavers in this area also drop them. =)

can confirm that Kolramas is the best spot to farm these from the skimmers there. about a 30% drop rate as well, however i have skinned 5 chitins in a row from this spot. very lucky. on average i get 1 out of 3 or 4 skimmer spiders which isn't bad at all. in 45 minutes i farmed 27 chitins, the rest borean leather and got 1 arctic fur. not bad at all.

Best place i have found so far is Kolramas in Zul Drak.

After 30 min of farming, i ended up with:
24 nerubian chitin
53 borean leather
4 green items
30 drakkari offerings
about 19g vendor trash

They have changed the drop rate in Kolramas, i only got 2 after 10 min, so back to Icemist Village

I tried farming in Kolramas as most of you guys suggested, but I got unlucky, the drop rate was pretty low - only managed to get 15 chitins in an hour. However, I found another great place: Icemist Village in Dragonblight. The nerubians that overrun the small village drop the chitin as well. As they are only lvl 69-71, they are easy to kill, and drop rate for me was about 1 chitin in every 5-6 kills. In 45 minutes of farming, I got
- 40(!) nerubian chitin
- 3 arctic fur
- 5 green items (lvl 68-73)
- a few golds' worth of vendor trash
- about 35 borean leather (the mobs actually drop leather scraps only, but I combined them as frequently as I could)

I have tried Icemist Village too. After 30 min, i ended up with:
22 nerubian chitin
25g from drops and vendor trash
1 arctic fur
32 borean leather (from scraps)
2 green items and some super healing and mana potions

If you actually skin the Hath'ar Skimmers (which I'm assuming anyone looking for chitin can do) the drop rate is significantly better than 1.56%. Probably better than 1/10. And the place is crawling with 'em.

"Gundrak Raptors" in Zul'Drak actually have a reasonably high drop rate for this stuff. Why? Don't know. They're not spiders, so why do they have Chitin?
Incidentally, also skinned an Arctic Fur off this thing. Not sure where I got fur from a raptor, either.
