Do not flag manually using the /pvp command. The quests will do it for you. It actually complicates the process of getting out of PvP if you do it manually.

You will automatically be flagged for PvP picking up any of these quests. In Retail, there are a few quests such as Escarmouches sur la rivière Noire and Mettez-les sur les dents that do not require being PvP flagged, since you can kill opposite faction NPCs as well as players. However, in WoTLK Classic, you will be flagged automatically when you pick these quests up.

You will not get a warning that a quest flags you. In Retail, there is a separate dialog box that pops up, informing you that this quest will flag you for PvP. No such polite nicety exists in WoTLK.

You will remain flagged for PvP with any one of these quests in your quest log. Toggling /pvp to Off will not turn off PvP if you keep these quests. To get out of PvP mode, you will have to complete or abandon all PvP quests before you can drop your PvP flag, even if you leave the zone.

Once you have completed or dropped all PvP daily quests, your flag will naturally drop off within 5 minutes with no PvP activity. You don't have to toggle /pvp to clear your flag; it will do it on its own. It assumes a /pvp off state as soon as you have no more PvP quests in your log.

Using a flight point will only clear your PvP flag, but only if you meet specific conditions:
If you have any PvP quests in your log, it will not clear the PvP flag. PvP remains on until you remove these quests from your log.

If you have no PvP quests left in your log and you have not toggled /pvp on and off, a flyer will clear the flag.

If you used /pvp to flag for PvP, you have to use /pvp again to turn off PvP before you get on the flight to clear the flag. If you do that midflight instead, it won't clear the PvP flag unless you land and get on another flight, or until five minutes have passed.

Teleporting or taking a mage portal to Dalaran will not clear your PvP flag, even though it turns your name blue in Dalaran.
