Wowhead Weekly is on a short hiatus as
new co-host Panser is moving
, so today instead we have an in-depth guide on how to 100% all missions with just 3 followers!
To learn more about follower basics, check out the
Warlords of Draenor Followers Guide
. You can even track your followers on Wowhead and get mission suggestions
following these instructions
.

I previously wrote
this guide
explaining how to go about setting up a team for raid missions. All the concepts from that post will apply to
Schwarzfelsgießerei
missions as well, but today I'm going to write about a new twist:
making a single team of 3 that can 100% all of the raid missions (and potentially, any 3-follower mission).
Here is a link
to one such team and their core abilities.
The purpose of this is mostly for fun, since it's likely to require more effort and resources than typical methods of reaching 100% on the raid missions (choosing teams of followers with the right ability counters). However, it does have the advantage of using up only 3 follower slots to handle all hard missions. So if freeing up space for more active followers is important to you, or you'd like to remove your
Kaserne Stufe 3
, this could be very useful.
The screenshot above demonstrates the secondary bonuses on the team.
Credit to
this Reddit thread
for the original idea, although the method described here is different from the one used there. Also to my guildmate
Vosk
for discussing the theorycraft of this with me.
The Concept
To reach 100% on a mission, you need to either counter all of the abilities, or make up for uncountered abilities using secondary bonuses. For this purpose:
Garona die Halborcin
's
Meisterassassine
counts for 1 full counter
An active racial bonus counts for 1/2
Other bonuses (environment/enemy counters,
Große Ausdauer
, and
Kampferfahrung
) count for 1/3
Having everyone at +15 ilvls from the requirement counts for 1/2, or slightly more in certain circumstances.
The goal will be to stack as many secondary bonuses as possible onto one team, so they can 100% a mission even with 3 or 4 uncountered abilities. The main method of doing this will be to set up as many racial synergies as possible--the maximum is 6 (each follower having a racial bonus for the other two), although 5 is quite acceptable. This will be achieved using
Eigenschaftsumschulung für Anhänger
and the new 6.1 racial bonus books from missions:
Wild auf Wildlinge
,
Voll auf Liebe programmiert
,
Mit den Arakkoa auf du und du
,
Gut Freund mit Ogern
.
For example, the team pictured above has 5 racial synergies (+2.5),
Garona die Halborcin
(+1), and ilvl 675 (+0.5), and therefore can 100% a mission with 4 uncountered abilities. So I only have to match 3 in any BRF mission, and even fewer in any other mission, which is very easy. Without
Garona die Halborcin
, I'd have to match 4 in any BRF mission, but that's doable with 6 abilities. For example: Danger Zones, Minion Swarms, Powerful Spell, Timed Battle, and Group Heal will match 4 in any BRF mission, with 1 ability to spare.
Setting up the Racial Synergies
There are two ways to go about this.
Method A
This method is based on luck and cannot include
Garona die Halborcin
. It involves simply waiting until you have 2 each of 3 different books that add racial synergies.
Once you do, choose one follower of each of the 3 races you get. For example, if the books you wind up with are Beasts, Ogres, and Arakkoa, you might choose
Fleischklops
,
Dagg
, and
Morgensucher Rukaryx
. Note that I did not choose
Leorajh
,
Blook
, or
Krallenpriester Ishaal
--they all have locked traits that make it more likely that your books will overwrite each other (you can make a case for
Blook
, since it's very nice if you get him with two racials, but it's risky since they're more likely to overwrite, and his
Kampferfahrung
is worse than a racial bonus).
Then, use 2 books on each follower (not their own race). The second book in each case has a 1/3 chance of overwriting the first. This leaves you with a 29.6% chance of having 0 overwrites and 6 bonuses, a 44.4% chance of 1 overwrite and 5 bonuses, and 25.9% chance of a worse result. With any luck, you get at least 5, thereby being able to do any mission with 3 missing counters. If you get bad overwrites, the team should still be useful, but you'll have to wait for more books to fully round it out.
From there, you can buy
Fähigkeitsumschulung für Anhänger
s at your leisure to get whatever abilities give the best spread across the team.
One issue with this approach:
Of the followers with these “unusual” races, virtually all of them are Warriors and Rogues:
Genussbot 8000
,
Ziri'ak
,
Dagg
,
Tormmok
,
Blook
,
Klauenwache Kurekk
,
Goldmähne der Häuter
, and
Fleischklops
.
The only exceptions are
Leorajh
and
Krallenpriester Ishaal
(
Leibwächter
s) and
Morgensucher Rukaryx
(whose ability list is sadly no different from Warriors and Rogues). You may consider someone like
Leorajh
simply so that your team has access to Group Damage and Magic Dispel counters, especially if you have extra books in case of an overwrite. But it's not required.
If you do your best to get a spread of abilities amongst a team of 3 Warriors and Rogues, you can still hit 4 counters in every BRF mission (
Eiserne Fertigung
will be the biggest problem).
Method B
This method will require using a lot of
Eigenschaftsumschulung für Anhänger
s and therefore a lot of
Garnisonsressourcen
, but does not require as much RNG on getting rare books, and has the option to include
Garona die Halborcin
. Instead of using 3 unusual races, you'll use 2 normal races for your faction and one unusual race.
Wait until you have 2 of any one racial book. Say you get 2
Wild auf Wildlinge
(Beasts).
Choose your favorite follower of that race, say
Fleischklops
. Do not use a
Leibwächter
or
Blook
.
Spam trait rerolls on that follower until you get 2 racial bonuses. Optional: keep going until one of the two is
Kind Draenors
(Horde) or
Verbündeter von Argus
(Alliance) if you want to include
Garona die Halborcin
. Say you get Orc and
Pandaren
.
You need to find a
Pandaren
with
Kind Draenors
(in this example). This requires either using trait rerolls on a
Pandaren
, or recruiting for
Kind Draenors
from the Inn until you get a
Pandaren
.
Same as step 4 for an
Orc
with
Bräuliebhaber
. If it's
Garona die Halborcin
, the odds of the successful trait reroll are low, and this step is optional.
Use the two
Wildling
s books on the Orc and the Pandaren.
Use ability rerolls as needed to get a good spread.
Notes:
Step 3 has approximately an 8.5% chance of success looking for any two racials, and a 2.5% chance if requiring a specific one. So you can expect to use about 12 trait rerolls, or 40 if you require
Garona die Halborcin
. The latter is probably only worth doing if you're very patient and flush with
Garnisonsressourcen
, and have had time to stockpile some rerolls before starting all this.
Step 4 has approximately an 8.2% chance of success, so roughly another 12 rerolls.
Step 5, if it's
Garona die Halborcin
, has roughly a 5% chance of success. So this would take 20 more rerolls, and coupled with the 50% chance of overwriting it in step 6, is probably not worth doing.
This was probably confusing, so putting it all together:
After step 5, you've likely used about 24 trait rerolls (actually less on average, since you have a large set of followers, you had some chance of having the right racials on people already). At this point, the endgame is the same as method A: use the books and then choose abilities. However this is a stronger position than method A since:
You only have 1-2 chances of overwrites instead of 3,
If you have a
Garona die Halborcin
, your final setup is stronger in every case, and
You have more of a selection of abilities, by choosing a follower who can complement the Warriors and Rogues better.
Conclusion
If you want to do this, first make sure you're willing to sink a lot of
Garnisonsressourcen
into making it work. If so, start spending excess
Garnisonsressourcen
on
Eigenschaftsumschulung für Anhänger
s any time you're about to cap out. Hopefully you'll have a reasonable stash by the time you get the two books you need for Method B.
Once you're through step 3 and know what races you're going for, you can also use your weekly Inn recruit to try to complete step 4. If at any point during all this you luck into the 6+ books required for Method A, you can swap to that as well (unless you're very determined to include
Garona die Halborcin
).
In short, this requires a lot of effort, but for the follower enthusiasts out there, constructing the most elite possible team may be a goal you can't resist. Good luck!
